Time to reopen this sordid affair, since 12.04 LTS still suffers from
the exact same problem, which can be worked-around with the exact same
work-arounds. (I see no "reopen" here.)

[Bug 1022226] [NEW] mirror should depend on libperl4-corelibs-perl

2012-07-08 Thread Andre Koopal
Public bug reported:

Mirror gives me the following warning:

Legacy library timelocal.pl will be removed from the Perl core distribution in t
he next major release. Please install the separate libperl4-corelibs-perl packag
e. It is being used at /usr/bin/../share/mirror/dateconv.pl, line 50.

Which tells me it should have a dependency on libperl4-corelibs-perl

[Bug 999910] Re: [IVB]12.04 64 bit System freezes (mouse, keyboard)

2012-07-08 Thread Kai Nickel
I just installed Kernel 3.2.0-27._43_ from proposed updates, and my
system froze hard a minute after login.

@Timo: Does Kernel 27.43 include your changes from 27.42? (I hoped so.)

System specs: Ubuntu 12.04 64bit, i7-3770, 16GB RAM, Intel SSD 520,
Intel DZ77BH-55K Mainboard.

(I am back to some old nvidia graphics card now, just to be able to
write this message...)

[Bug 812936] Re: iBus does not saves my settings regarding the toolbar

2012-07-08 Thread Ma Xiaojun
Thank you for your feedback.

Whether properties on language panel are saved are engine dependent.
Since you are talking about cangjie5, I think you are using "ibus-table" engine.

"ibus-table" in Ubuntu 12.04 should be able to save Chinese Mode setting.
If you still using older Ubuntu releases, you may change
/usr/share/ibus-table/engine/table.py manually as a workaround.
Please refer to:
http://code.google.com/p/ibus/wiki/FAQ
https://groups.google.com/group/ibus-user/browse_thread/thread/facecd92ec2a3e5f?hl=en_US

If you still have problems, feel free to reply or ask in ibus-user.

[Bug 787322] Re: Input methods in ibus missing

2012-07-08 Thread Ma Xiaojun
Can you install "ibus-pinyin" and "ibus-unikey" package manually?

sudo apt-get install ibus-pinyin
sudo apt-get install ibus-unikey

IBus has neven been a monolithic software.
The more additional package you install, the more input methods be available
for use.

[Bug 1013798] Re: Blink SIP client segfaults with libgcrypt11 1.5.0-3ubuntu0.1

2012-07-08 Thread Joe Petri
Dear Vedavata, you're welcome !
I didn't understand what you meant exactly , i list the commands needed to make
blink works again :

- install libgcrypt11 package, according with your ubuntu version and
system architecture, in my case 64bit lucid ubuntu.

http://packages.ubuntu.com/lucid/amd64/libgcrypt11/download

another example 32bit precise ubuntu
http://packages.ubuntu.com/precise/i386/libgcrypt11/download

- after you download, install the package by clicking on it or through
terminal command sudo dpkg -i package_name.deb

- next echo libgcrypt11 hold | sudo dpkg --set-selections.

Thats it ! No more steps needed . About the definitive solution on
libgcrypt11 package , we have to wait for blink's team ultimate work as
gdi2k reported on comment #3.

Hope this will be useful for you and you'll have blink working again
following the steps above.

Cheers.

[Bug 993659] Re: The tables of all Cangjie are incomplete

2012-07-08 Thread Ma Xiaojun
If you are using 12.04, the default Chinese Mode is still locale based
which has already confused many people.

However, you should able to save Chinese Mode setting once you change
Chinese Mode in the language panel.

If you cannot see the language panel, you can either:
1. Set "Show language panel:" as "Always".
2. Use Ctrl + ; to switch Chinese Mode blindly

Subject: [Bug 738241] Re: gvfs-gdu-volume-monitor crashed with SIGABRT in
__kernel_vsyscall()

It is a possible duplicate of #571038 .
I had gvfs-gdu-volume-monitor crashed after I upgraded to Precise from Oneiric.
Since I'm affected by #571038, I had to patch udisks. After that
gvfs-gdu-volume-monitor did not crush for me.
Does palipmsest tool start okay for you? If not try patching (or using ppa) as
described in #571038.

Thank you for your feedback.

Due to some technical reasons, after enabling IBus, you must restart

I noted that bug # 654355 expressed similar concern as yours and there are
already some discussion there.
So marked your bug as duplicate.

[Bug 800840] Re: unable to install grub 2 on btrfs

2012-07-08 Thread filip
i experience this bug in quantal 12.10 daily (7/7/12).
i've installed quantal, as a test, on a 8 gb stick formated btrfs as / and
there everything works.
Then because this worked, i decided to install it to my internal harddrive and
got most likely this problem.
I have seen these messages:
ubuntu grub-installer: Embedding is not possible. GRUB can only be installed in
this setup by using blocklists. However, blocklists are UNRELIABLE and their
use is discouraged.
ubuntu grub-installer: cannot read `/@/boot/grub/core.img' correctly"
in the window below of the installer.

Also as above, i reinstalled from the same live envirement (didn't
reboot) and used ext4 and the installation finished without a problem.

Hi, all.

It's 2012.
Several things changed.
The upstream issue is already closed.
Shawn Huang's PPA is no longer maintained.
Ubuntu 12.04 comes with latest stable release of IBus.

I'd like to whether newer version of IBus still have this issue?
If not, I'd like to close this bug as "Fix Released".

[Bug 128357] Re: boinc does not idle with mouse movement

2012-07-08 Thread Matt Dittloff
I'm using 12.04 Precise, BOINC version 7.0.24, and it does now seem to
stop computation. However, now I'm having the opposite problem. It
doesn't seem to detect that the computer is idle to be able to resume
computation.

I have while computer is in use unchecked, and I have if the computer
has been idle for 2 minutes. My work units switch to a status of
"Suspended - computer is in use". I now step back from my computer and
wait 2 minutes. My work units do not resume computation.

I think the idle detection is still broken. Now, instead of not
detecting computer active to stop computation, it's now not detecting
computer idle to resume computation.

[Bug 1022232] [NEW] installing boinc-client requires too much dependencies

2012-07-08 Thread Ace Suares
Public bug reported:

On a personal server with no X environment installed. I am wondering at
some of the dependencies of the boinc-client package. One in particular
that comes to mind is "bluetooth"... why is that a dependency? I can
understand the i386 libraries... it does however seem there are a quite
a few extra packages in there. Perhaps I am ignorant to some of the
needs of various projects out there. If that is the case... cool! Let me
know. Thank you.

Here is the search for boinc packages on "packages.ubuntu.com"

[Bug 1021517] Re: Full system crash using any tool in Gimp

2012-07-08 Thread melchiaros
I have tried to reproduce, but it fails. Indeed that was what I have
expected. The bugrate on this is to low on launchpad as that could be a
common bug of GIMP to all.

"step5: crash (login window appears)" from comment 5.

That is a very valuable hint.

It says that you have not so far a problem with GIMP, it is the xserver
of your system that crashes. Gimp is just hitting the weak point of
xserver.

Xserver bugs are mostly hard to debug, but in your case it is possible,
because you can reproduce it.

---

The easiest way would be, if the system has gathered the crash by
itself, but has not send it.

Please check the directory

/var/crash/

with nautilus

if there is a .crash file of xorg or metacity or similiar. (You can post
a list of files here if you want).

With a right mouse click -> open with -> report problem you can send
this manually.

It should be entered in the crash database(no seperated ticket), but
maybe you get a launchpad ticket

Please report back. When there is no .crash file we do it more
complicated.

[Bug 1022238] [NEW] Forgets to scan on startup

2012-07-08 Thread WheelDweller
Public bug reported:

I've used XBMC for many years. When it starts, it scans the library it
knows, looking for new stuff.

But now it doesn't, on the version in Precise (12.04). Edit any "files"
entry to point to media. Check the box that says "scan this area on
startup" and end the edit normally. Leave XMBC, re-enter and watch as it
does nothing.

This isn't seeing it wrong or a single test; every machine in my house,
running Precise and XBMC, having turned on these checkboxes, never scan
on startup.

While not a segfault on boot, it's still kind of a pain...and I'll bet
it's something simple that was overlooked; the code has worked for
years.

Thanks so much for what you do! If I can help with docs or diagnostics,
let me know; thanks!

2012-07-08 Thread WheelDweller
Ya know, when you're the only one reporting an obvious bug, and it's
4am? Double check yourself.

Sorry, guys. I thought I had a real one- I don't. I'm just an idiot,
and God saw fit to remind me. There's an "enable scan at startup" that
I'd forgotten all about. Under settings->library I believe. It was OFF.

I'm so sorry to bother you...

[Bug 1021581] Re: Printing large pdf documents fails

2012-07-08 Thread Hendrik Knackstedt
Capturing print job data gives me very strange results:

(1) When trying to print using Evince:

printout is a PDF file containing just a single white page which is
printed by the DCP395CN (well it just feeds an empty page but the
original document wasn't a white page).

(2) When trying to print using Adobe Reader:

printout_adobe is a PostScript file looking like the original PDF file
but DCP395CN printer does not do anything and job does not appear in
printing queue.

(3) When trying to print to PDF file using Evince:

same as (1)

(4) When trying to print to PS file using Evince:

same as (2)

2012-07-08 Thread melchiaros
I can confirm, but in my reproducing apt shows that the configuration of
qmail needs a full qualified domain name.

May be it is not so a problem with the package itself and more with the
environment.

[Bug 969165] Re: hdparm: excessive Load_Cycle_Count with some WD "Intelli-Park" HDDs

2012-07-08 Thread Lukáš Chmela
I have a WD7500BPVT-22HXZT1 and the Load/unload cycle count in disk
utility increased from 12,000 to 13,000 within about an hour on battery!

hdparm -B doesn't have any effect on the frequency of parking of disk
heads up until 254 which completely prevents the heads from parking, nor
hdparm -S has any effect on the delay between individual parkings (if it
should have any).

The drive is a Western Digital Scorpio Blue.

[Bug 945603] Re: lxkeymap crashed with IndexError in finish_initializing(): list index out of range

2012-07-08 Thread Daniel Clem
For some reason my system said the bug I was trying to report (via the
automatic bug reporter) was the same as this bug. But from the
description, its not because the lxkeymap thing won't even start for me
at all. I am using CR-48 Chrome notebook. the CPU is a Intel Atom model
N455 @ 1.66GHz if that helps.

Also, I will probably try to find how to report another bug on Lubuntu
in general. Because I had a strange issue in package management. I
wanted to uninstall Chromium from Lubuntu (cause I prefer Midori, much
lighter, faster, and has all the needed extensions included by default)
But when I did remove Chromium, Firefox was automatically installed. I
have no idea why. So I uninstalled Firefox, and then Epiphany was
install (also called "Web"), I uninstalled Epiphany, then for some
reason, Rhythmbox was installed. And it continued to get more strange
from there. The only way I was able to solve this, was use Synaptic, and
each time a package was marked to be installed because I was removing
another, I "unmarked".

It took about 10 or 15 minutes, but finally got all the strange packages
removed. But it was very frustrating to have to go through all that just
cause I wanted to remove Chromium. >:-(

That aside, I am still willing to stick with Lubuntu for a while, cause
it is WAY too fast to give up on it so easily. Like, crazy insane fast.
I may actually put it on my Bigger machine, solely of the speed.

[Bug 901097] Re: Add option to use glXSwapBuffers on every frame, not just full-screen redraws.

2012-07-08 Thread Lasse Kärkkäinen
Care must be taken with removing glFinish as doing so may cause
additional latency. Ideally the drawing should occur as late as
possible, right before the buffer swap (1-5 ms latency at compositing
stage) but it may be difficult to guarantee that the deadline isn't
missed (causing frameskips). Drawing right after the previous swap is
much easier and still acceptable (one frame latency). If no glFinish is
done, the display driver may buffer multiple completed frames, leading
to high latency.

Nothing happens

(2) When trying to print from Adobe Reader:

Starts printing. First 2 pages come out correctly, then something
crashed (something like "gzedo" or similar) and it stopped printing.

[Bug 1018001] Re: Please sync rabbitmq-server 2.8.4 from Debian

2012-07-08 Thread Dave Walker
@Emile

Hi,

Reviewing the delta between Ubuntu and Debian's 2.8.4-1.. The Ubuntu
package still has binary packages, rabbitmq-erlang-client & rabbitmq-
stomp. What do you think of these? I'm not certain we still need
these, but would like to get your feedback.. They are currently rdepends
of mcollective-middleware.

Thanks.

Which Rhytmbox folder?
I found NO xml files in my Music folder, nor in my Podcasts folder.

only rhytmdb.xml in this folder. No filename with %20 instead of space.
