were already installed, but not libasound2-plugins:i386). Shouldn't

[Bug 992424] [NEW] ext4 filesystem errors on SSD disk

After Upgrading from 11.10 to 12.04 I quickly got EXT4 Filesystem errors
on my root-fs, which will result in / being remounted as readonly.

How to reproduce:

1. Boot 12.04 with latest 12.04 kernel (3.2.0.24.26)
2. Start some io-heavy (probably write-intensive) task, like syncing your 
mailboxes with offlineimap
3. Bumm -> / is mounted as readonly (there are 2 partitions /boot and / )

Dmesg then Usually shows these 4 lines, but nothing more:

You can then reboot your system, let fsck find a few errors it can fix,
reboot again (as /-fs changed) and repeat the steps above.

I can boot my 12.04 with the kernel of 11.10 (2.6.38-12.51) and everything 
works fine (except the wireless card, but that's probably an unrelated bug). So 
I assume it must be a regression in the EXT4-code of the latest 12.04 Kernel.
Also I had no problems with 11.10 and all its previous versions.

This happens only on my laptop that uses an INTEL SSDSA2CW160G3. On
another machine, which I upgraded at the same time and I use as
frequently as my laptop, but with a normal SATA disk it didn't happen so
far. Both machines, have 2 partitions, while the LVM for the root
filesystem and swap is on the second - an encrypted partition:

/dev/sda1 /boot
/dev/sda2 -> cryptsetup
  -> lvm
-> root
-> swap

As both systems are setup the same way, but only the desktop behaves
badly on the latest kernel, I assume it could have todo something with
the SSD disk, therefor SSD in the title of that bug report.

default in Network Manager but document how to turn it off (comment

`apt-get dist-upgrade`. We have hit this on 11 machines both servers and
desktops, none of which have been able to upgrade from Lucid to Precise.

I do not see this bug with latest unity-2d 5.12.0-0ubuntu1. All accented 
characters are entered correctly in the Dash, even if the accent key is pressed 
twice by accident.
However, I see a similar problem with the unity-2d HUD. Should I file a new bug 
report?

Ok, it all worked fine when I first installed Ubuntu12.04.  Indeed it
works if I use the USB installer and boot from it.  Dies a horrible
death if I try to use the alsa-hda-dkms stuff.  Actually removes all
audio devices completely.

I needed to do this to get back the card after trying the alsa_hda_dkms

sudo apt-get purge alsa-hds-kms

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-audio-dev/ppa; sudo apt-get
update;sudo apt-get dist-upgrade; sudo apt-get install linux-sound-base

i just noted on ubuntu 12.04 server edition x64 that if i use only rc4
chiper on apache mod ssl, the curl could not fect the https://. but if i
enabled higher chiper such as camelia or aes, the curl https:// command
is running fine.

i don't know on which package this bug is. is it from curl, php5-curl,
apache, or openssl.

Fail to fix the problem, leaving a dependency problem with python-
minimal, which if I manually install, leaves a trail of disaster
beginning with libc6 and continuing upwards through the distribution.

I figured out that if I autostart workrave with simply "workrave"
command, the status window shows.

While if I autostart workrave with the following script, status window
doesn't show, and problem solved.

For sleep like 2 seconds, status window still shows.
Weird though, problem solved.

I had a new machine yesterday to install a fresh Ubuntu. While this
problem can be replicated on my two machines... this was not the case
with the new machine. It would seem then that the problem is video-
hardware-related and that whether tweak or background settings is used,
given some hardware context, the problem will always occur! The forum
posts (see above) show some other workarounds other than having to
resort to redoing an install.

https://mydomain.com here.

if i set it to RC4 only from apache mod ssl.conf, then the curl
https://mydomain.com produced an error message regarding handshake
failure.

i don't know which package cause this bug, whether is it curl,
php5-curl, apache, or openssl.

hope there will be better solution on next update. we used curl to send
email through google mail smtp. it breaks after upgrade from ubuntu
11.10 to 12.04. :(

I have this issue too on Ubuntu 12.04 amd64. My ICQ account is disabled after 
starting of empathy.
The account may be enabled by switching of the enable button in the Accounts 
window.
The pernament solution is to remove and add the account again.
So this issue is related only to ICQ accounts which were made in previous 
versions of Ubuntu.

Hello,

if I try to install the libicu48:i386 package on my amd64 precise
installation, apt wants to remove a huge list of essential core
packages, including Unity, Nautilus, LibreOffice, Software-Center, etc.
. For the exact list of packages to be removed see the attached output
of apt-get.

In Ubuntu 12.04 amd64
When pidgin starts first time (e.g. in Startup Application) its icon isn't 
showed at all.
After I switched in Preferences->Show system tray icon from "Always" to "Never" 
and back to "Always" empty space emerged between Skype icon ad keyboard 
indicator (picture2). It is a clickable space, behaves like icon: double click 
shows buddy list, etc.

BTW, systray-whitelist set to ['all']

This morning after starting my computer, I tried to program using R language

Even though I have my power management settings are set to sleep when
lid closed (both on battery and AC); sometimes the computer would stay
in it's regular running state and not get a signal to go to sleep when
the laptop is closed. Other times it would get the signal to go to
sleep, but the only OS goes into sleep mode, and leaves the computer on
(no, i am not making a sentence mistake). I am using Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.

It doesn't seem to be a ubuntu-tweak problem after all... whether you
use it or background-settings to configure a desktop wallpaper, the
problem will eventually occur.

There is however no consistency... on occasion one of the other std
wallpapers may also lock up the login process as well. If one configures
the greeter screen to have the same background as the current desktop
which is an image from ~/Pictures, then the and the login process will
also lock up. Using gradient colors instead of a wallpaper is one
surefire workaround.

This seem to be related to frame buffer mode. If I enable text mode
console in the grub script, then the console Ctrl+Alt+Fx works fine. But
when returning to the graphic screen Ctrl+Alt+F7 the screen is totally
corrupted. Moving the mouse repaints the screen back to normal. So far
it has not locked up but this maybe pure chance. Also disabling splash
in grub stops the corrupted text characters during boot. Perhaps
plymouth uses frame buffer mode too?

[Bug 992449] [NEW] Ubuntu 12.04 downloads i386 sources on amd64 system

I've only done 2 amd64 system upgrades to 12.04 but on both I've found
that after the upgrade the sources are pulled for both the amd64
architecture as well as the i386 architecture whic leads to various
problems.  On a test machine I'm running in the the "Dynamic MMap ran
out of room" error.  I do not need any i386 packages on my amd64
systems.  There should be an option to disable this new behavior but I
have yet to find it.

I upgraded ubuntu from oneric to 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin). Im using 
severals layouts for my keyboard : English (US), English (US, International 
with dead keys), English (US, alternative international) and French.
I usually used English (US) but this morning my settings were changed and I 
have to precise each time I start my computer which keyboard to use. The 
default one is not conserved from one time to one other.

Eric, I can confirm that removing the nvidia-current and nvidia-settings
packages solved the problem for me as well.

Updating bug description for temporary fix... Hope they can fix this
ASAP, provided it is an LTS.

  I have a hybrid system, and to date I have always been using by default
  the grapbhic drivers for my integrated  i7 graphics card. I now see it
  defaults to the Nouveau drivers, that must be the cause of the
  regression.

[Bug 992452] [NEW] Software Center has blank screen

When initially running Software Center all is OK but after I close it,
when rerunning it come up with a blank screen.

This all started when I upgraded to 12.04. It was OK with 11.10

I have done a complete removal, reboot and install form the package
manager but that made no difference.

If I type "killall software-center" in a terminal it will then run OK
but once again, after closing it will fail the next run.

If run from the terminal, after closing these errors are reported...

Hi Stephano,

Thanks for the PPA. I'm still with oneiric at work however, and I cannot
install the cntlm_0.91~rc6-0ubuntu2.1_i386.deb version due to the
following dependency not being met :

dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of cntlm:
 cntlm depends on libc6 (>= 2.15); however:
  Version of libc6 on system is 2.13-20ubuntu5.1.

I'll switch to precise in a couple of days (I'm a bit busy at work right
now). Is that ok to wait a little while ?

[Bug 992453] [NEW] Xorg freeze

Interface freezes sometimes when waking up from suspension. Not able to
tell the conditions of freezing.

I have the login-screen from suspension enabled.

When it freezes,  sometimes the screen stays black where I can move the mouse 
cursor around and sometimes the frozen desktop appears without showing the 
login-screen first. 
I can press always press alt+f2 to do a system reboot in the terminal.

This did not happen in Ubuntu 11.10
