RE: [Bug 968785] Re: ghostscript runs for indefinitely long period of time when called by foomatic-rip

2012-04-02 Thread Mark Desrousseaux
** Hi Till, thank you for your interest in this problem.
** I just tried to print a web page
(http://www.mindtools.com/pages/article/newPPM_94.htm)** The print job is
stuck in the print queue and gs is using 100% cpu...
shompoe@shompoe-TOSHIBA-NB305:~$ ps -e | grep gs 1225 ?00:00:05
gnome-settings- 3708 ?00:00:52 gs
shompoe@shompoe-TOSHIBA-NB305:~$ ps -efw | grep 3708lp3708 3705 98
13:32 ?00:01:05 gs -q -dNOPAUSE -dBATCH -dSAFER -sDEVICE=ps2write
-sOUTPUTFILE=%stdout -dLanguageLevel=3 -dCompressFonts=false -dNoT3CCITT
-dEncodeMonoImages=false -dEncodeColorImages=false -c save pop -f
/var/spool/cups/tmp/00e794f7aa26fshompoe 3719 3554 0 13:33 pts/2
00:00:00 grep --color=auto 3708
shompoe@shompoe-TOSHIBA-NB305:~$ sudo cp /var/spool/cups/tmp/00e794f7aa26f
.[sudo] password for shompoe:
* next I deleted the print job through gnome so the print queue is
empty* and I confirmed with top command that gs process has
terminated...
shompoe@shompoe-TOSHIBA-NB305:~$ sudo chown shompoe 00e794f7aa26f
shompoe@shompoe-TOSHIBA-NB305:~$ sudo chmod 777 00e794f7aa26f
shompoe@shompoe-TOSHIBA-NB305:~$ gs -q -dNOPAUSE -dBATCH -dSAFER
-sDEVICE=ps2write -sOUTPUTFILE=%stdout -dLanguageLevel=3 -dCompressFonts=false
-dNoT3CCITT -dEncodeMonoImages=false -dEncodeColorImages=false -c save pop -f
00e794f7aa26f > output.ps
* gs process is using 100% cpu as before so I interrupt with CTRL+C...
shompoe@shompoe-TOSHIBA-NB305:~$ gs -q -dNOPAUSE -dBATCH -dSAFER
-sDEVICE=ps2write -sOUTPUTFILE=%stdout -dLanguageLevel=3 -dCompressFonts=false
-dNoT3CCITT -dEncodeMonoImages=false -dEncodeColorImages=false -dNOTRANSPARENCY
-c save pop -f 00e794f7aa26f > output.ps
* this time gs completes in about 2 - 3 seconds and the file output.ps
opens in evince looking not identical but reasonable.
* I hope you are able to reproduce this problem. It happens for me
printing almost anything from firefox or evince unless it has really really
simple graphics.

[Bug 971296] Re: Help "menu" should have an "About" item

2012-04-02 Thread Greg Auger
Thank you for your fast response to this bug.

I believe that Chromium in Ubuntu under the Unity environment does have
a Help menu (but maybe I am using the wrong terminology). Please see the
attached screenshot.

[Bug 804662] Re: jockey-gtk crashed with TypeError in _execute_child(): execv() arg 2 must contain only strings

2012-04-02 Thread drklunk
when I activated the ATI/AMD proprietary FLGRX graphics driver there
were two options within 'system settings>additional drivers' there were
two options, one "post-release updates" the other just the ATI/AMD...
driver. the "post-release updates" provided me this conflict; when I
tried the second option it worked fine, as far as I can tell.

Given that this error message comes from evolution, I'm not sure there's
much that can be done from update-manager to address it; I think the
package itself would need to take care to notice that it's in an
inconsistent state somehow and avoid such broken pop-ups.

[Bug 914348] Re: Touchpad LED on Dell's laptop is not working

2012-04-02 Thread AceLan Kao
Yes, I'll submit SRU to the kernel team to cherry pick those patches.
But, we still don't have a good way in userspace to cooperate with the kernel
driver.

It just comes to my mind, maybe ubuntu kernel team will accept the way turning
on/off touchpad LED in the driver until we have a better way doing this in
userspace app.
I'll try it.

[Bug 971311] [NEW] use gvfs-open/xdg-open in Lib/webbrowser.py

2012-04-02 Thread Michael Vogt
Public bug reported:

The webbrowser.py is using gnome-open. This is no longer supported by gnome,
instead they use gvfs-open.
The attached patch adds support for this and will also use xdg-open if
available as this is meant to be the
cross desktop tool to use for this kind of task, see
http://portland.freedesktop.org/wiki/

[Bug 966793] Re: 19disable_sslv2 patch breaks TLSv1.1

2012-04-02 Thread Tyler Hicks
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.
