[Bug 804435] Re: Wallpaper is loaded twice with different alignment by gnome-session and nautilus (Oneiric)

2011-09-05 Thread Lucazade
@Alberto
left margin seems small, just few pixels.. anyway it is not the only movement
and stretch of wallpaper.
I made a video to explain the issue better, it is a bit slow becuase it is in a
virtualmachine, from 0:36 to the end is relevant.

Florian told me a couple of days ago on irc that these issues are different,
sincerly things are not so clear for me.
if you need anything else, i'm here!

2011-09-05 Thread Alberto Mardegan
Thanks Lucazade!
Indeed, the issue that I experienced is what Florian described in bug 839610:
it's also visible in your video, when the background quickly shift to the right
by a few pixels. I couldn't reproduce the grey band on the left.

It seems you have disabled compositing; did you do it on purpose? If so,
can you enable it again and see if things behave differently?

[Bug 816358] Re: Latest 11.10a2 fails with GLX under VB

2011-09-05 Thread Sefer Tov
Hi,

This issue appears to still persist with Ubuntu 11.10beta1.
It appears to be a regression from Ubuntu 11.04 which runs compiz just fine
under the same VirtualBox 4.1.2. I also get frequent crashes from the 2D panel
now (you might want to try running it under VB).

Any clues as to why 3D support is rejected with 11.10beta1 (while allowed in
11.04)?
Let me know if you can dig out the difference between the releases that causes
this regression.

Thanks,
Sefer.

[Bug 841595] [NEW] lock screen wallpaper does not track session wallpaper change

2011-09-05 Thread Paul Collins
Public bug reported:

Version: 3.1.5-0ubuntu6
Release:11.10

I noticed that the lock screen now shows my background image, which is
much more reassuring than natty's bottomless void. However, when I
change the background image during my session, the lock screen does not
follow along, but instead continues to show the old image.

El OS pareciera estar instalado correctamente pero aparece la opcion (1°

[Bug 184721] Re: linux-source-2.6.22-2.6.22 ships with deprecated asus_acpi.ko

2011-09-05 Thread dino99
wonder about the actual kernel settings as asus_acpi is blacklisted (oneiric)
found this on: http://en.gentoo-wiki.com/wiki/Asus_P5W_DH_Deluxe

For kernels 2.6.31 and above the w83627ehf driver conflicts with ACPI.
The asus_atk0110 driver should be used instead.

To prevent ACPI from stealing I/O ports, and then reuse the w83627ehf driver
and restore the old behavior (which might be dangerous), add
acpi_enforce_resources=lax to the kernel cmdline when booting.
Warning: You MUST understand that using the old behavior can be harmful for
your hardware. Actually, having two drivers working on the same I/O ports can
set unattended values to voltage controls.
Note: Using the asus_atk0110 gives nice results for reading/monitoring, but
this driver does not have any fan control ability. Also, at least
sys-apps/lm_sensors-3.1.0 is required to support this driver (current stable
portage version is 3.1.2)

Ah, that would make sense then :)
So, I prefer to let it crashing right now as you won't be able to save OneConf
data otherwise once you are back to a working session.
Just remember to delete those 2 owned-root directory when it's the case.

I'll use this bug to remember I have to prevent saving data if root is
the current effective euid in the user directory.

Thanks for your answer :)

If someone is seeing this please try running 'top' in a terminal and
check whether the PID of zeitgeist-daemon keeps changing every so
often... I have a hunch that the daemon may be restarting over and over
again...

[Bug 341015] Re: update-manager crashed with TypeError in _get_last_apt_get_update_text()

2011-09-05 Thread Robert Roth
Setting this to fix released, as this does not happen with update-manager on
oneiric with translations without parameter placeholders, tried the
translations without the %s for the "last updated %s hour" and "last updated %s
day" ago strings (singular forms). The translations which do not have the
placeholder are : eu, et, he, ar. If you still experience this issue, feel free
to reopen this bug by setting its status to new, and describe in a comment the
update-manager version you are using, and the output of the locale terminal
command.

This is probably a dependency problem in Ubuntu because it built on

I don't have much time to investigate right now, but a simple give-back

[Bug 841612] [NEW] Banshee crash on Last.fm login (for Audio CD "Get information from track fingerprint")

[Bug 684599] Re: Memory leak in nm-applet

2011-09-05 Thread Stas
I got this bug in Natty with 0.8.4~git.20110318t152954.9c4c9a0-0ubuntu1
Anyway I'm just telling people to use wicd, it is so much better for everyday
use.

NM was never good enough even for simple network setup, few years ago it
was better to configure everything manually, now it is still better to
use wicd or something else that works.I cannot understand why have
you taken NM into Ubuntu? Just because it has nice gnome-applet and
palsma-applet in KDE? Sure it does, however it still works really bad as
of 2011.

[Bug 840433] Re: Xorg gestures conflicts with uTouch

2011-09-05 Thread Jussi Pakkanen
I tried #1, and what happens is that when you are pinching sideways, no
scroll events are generated. When pinching vertically, scroll events are
generated. This seems to be a bug in the part of X (or kernel driver?)
that detects two finger scrolls. It is a bit tricky, though.

Currently if you hold one finger and move the other, the second finger
movement generates scrolls. This is similar to how OSX window drags and
it seems quite sensible. Unfortunately the finger motion is
indistinguishable from a pinch. The detector should do something like
this:

- when one finger is stationary and the other moves, generate scrolls according
to the second finger
- when both fingers move in the same direction, generate scrolls
- when fingers move in opposite directions, do nothing

#2 is possibly caused by bug 839379. Please try again once the new
libgrip package gets uploaded.

[Bug 840470] Re: translated catogory names to wide for dash

2011-09-05 Thread John Lea
de-duplicated the bug because different fixes are required for each

** This bug is no longer a duplicate of bug 833919
"Science & Engineering" string doesn't fit into lense button.

** Description changed:

Some of the category names are to wide to be shown properly in the dash.
Not only are they truncated (which is fine) but the first letter is
rendered outside the box for that category, see the screenshot attached.

- Would it be possible to make the 'buttons' for a category as wide as the
- biggest category name? There is still free space in the dash window as
- you can see in the screenshot, and I dont expect translated category
- names to be ridiculously long.
+ Desired solution:

- ProblemType: Bug
- DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.10
- Package: unity 4.12.0-0ubuntu1
- ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.0.0-9.15-generic 3.0.3

- ProcEnviron:
- PATH=(custom, no user)

- SourcePackage: unity
- UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install)
+ - For languages that have on average longer words than English (e.g.
