[Bug 136940] Re: should allow opening non-removable partitions (port to Gio)

2011-06-01 Thread Goatsly
I would rather call it a bug fix, not a new feature, because exo-mount
is no more present in natty, and thus the user gets an error message. I
don't think that's desired for a default installation.

Come on! It's a really boring bug. 2 months confirmed, unassigned and
undecided... It's unbelievable! Do you know that some PC have not easily
accessible ports? I can't replug the mouse everytime i reboot the PC.
I'm working, I'm not doing a pic nic in the park!

[Bug 410636] Re: Right-click should not pre-light first option, too easy to accidentally select the first Context-menu option.

2011-06-01 Thread Aditya Sharma
I had similar symptoms to the ones mentioned above. A single click
worked like two very quick single clicks (and not a double click). This
was of course not showing up on my other Linux Laptop or when used with
any other OS.

In the end it turned out to be because of having both an external USB
mouse and my laptop touchpad enabled simultaneously. When I used my
laptop's "Fn+Disable Touchpad" key to disable touchpad, the issue goes
away and i can use the USB mouse ok. I wonder if some of you folks were
facing the same issue.

[Bug 790469] Re: invalid security certificate 11.10

2011-06-01 Thread Chris Coulson
The upstream bug is a different issue (the reporters clock was wrong).

This is just happening here because the certificate for
testpilot.mozillalabs.com is issued by a CA with no chain of trust to
one of the roots in NSS. The issuers root is already included in newer
NSS versions (it's fixed on Aurora and mozilla-central already). I'd
rather not do an upload just to disable testpilot (note that we disable
it automatically when we switch to the release channel anyway). I don't
really think this is a blocker for alpha 1

[Bug 791074] [NEW] blur plugin messes up window shadows

2011-06-01 Thread Bogdan Butnaru
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: compiz

Hello! On Natty, if both “Window decorations” and “Blur” plugins are
enabled, and the settings for blur include “Alpha blur”, the windows
where alpha blur applies have messed up shadows. (I use “normal” as the
window filter for alpha blur; examples of transparent areas are the
gnome terminal in some profiles, and unfocused window title bars, and
some popups.)

First of all, the shadowed areas are also blured, which I believe to be
wrong behavior. (Only translucent part of “logical” windows should be
blured, not effects like shadow.)

Second, the shadow becomes “messy”: it’s a dynamic bug, the exact
effects vary when moving windows around, including darkening or
lightening of the shadow, and various lines and areas of varying
opacity. I’m including a screenshot with an example.

(CCSM shows “/usr/bin/compiz-decorator” as the “Command” in the window
decorations plugin, by the way.)

[Bug 762918] Re: Natty Screensaver freezes system after some period of inactivity

2011-06-01 Thread MikeCz
FWIW: Sean Fenton's advice about disabling sync_to_vblank in gconf-
editor seems to have done the trick: I just left my laptop on overnight
with Transmission running (which was a recipe to activate the bug) and
it came back no problem.

The key location is:

/apps/compiz-1/plugins/opengl/screen0/options/sync_to_vblank

(since there are a couple of keys with the same name).

I still fervently hope that this bug gets fixed soon, however.

[Bug 791082] [NEW] Battery monitor doesn't show level on new ThinkPad model

2011-06-01 Thread Aaron Kavlie
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

On a ThinkPad X220, the battery monitor usually fails to report the battery
level after unplugging. Though the time remaining is reported, the meter shows
with a red outline, as if it's completely out of power.
If the problem doesn't show up immediately after unplugging, try putting the
machine to sleep and restarting. Then the problem should occur.

[Bug 550409] Re: Slow disk IO for all guests with all disc modes and types.

2011-06-01 Thread agent 8131
People should be aware that cache=writeback should only be used if you
do not care about the very real possibility of guest disk corruption
should the guest or host fail unexpectedly. Given that there is no
facility for shutting down guests cleanly on host shutdown one should be
very wary of risking their guest data for anything important.

[Bug 378240] Re: Please merge xen 4.0.1-2 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

2011-06-01 Thread agent 8131
For anyone that's interested I've packaged Xen 4.1.0 and 4.0.1 for
Ubuntu. So far I've only released on 10.04 but I hope the debs will
work for other Ubunutu versions, and Debian as well. My strategy was to
create a package that duplicated the Xen install without all the extra
packaging done by the Ubuntu and Debian packages. I've also catered to
my needs, so at the moment no SDL and no pvgrub. Still it's a lot
easier than compiling Xen on every single server. You can find them
here:

https://launchpad.net/~agent-8131/+archive/ppa

They seem to work well with the Debian 6.0 Xen kernel.

[Bug 791084] [NEW] LASH to ladish transition

2011-06-01 Thread Alessio Treglia
Public bug reported:

LASH Audio Session Handler was abandoned upstream in favor of the new session
management system, called ladish: LADI Session Handler.
ladish will allow users to run many JACK applications at once and save/restore
their configuration with few mouse clicks.

What we need now is dropping the LASH support for all those packages able to
build without it.
On those packages which need to find lash's headers and development libraries
to build, we just need to replace the build-dependencies on liblash-dev with
liblash-compat-dev, which provides a dummy support for the old LASH layer; the
programs compiled against the new liblash-compat won't be able to cooperate
with the old lashd daemon anyway.

[Bug 136940] Re: should allow opening non-removable partitions (port to Gio)

2011-06-01 Thread Nick Holloway
Although it may not be default in 11.04, it was included and part of the
default panel configuration for earlier Xubuntu releases, so anyone
upgrading to 11.04 will be met with the error message.

This is a functionality regression for existing Xubuntu users.

Yeah, we're binding the framebuffer wrong. I had a look into this bug
I'm not sure what's causing it. Maybe if we get time I can get one of
our GL experts to take a look.

[Bug 791055] Re: Firefox is slow

2011-06-01 Thread Brendan Donegan
Hi,

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and help make Ubuntu
better. In order to get an idea of your problem, I need to get two
details:

1.) Which graphics card do you have? Looks like an ATI one, but if you
could open a terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T) and type 'lspci | grep VGA' then that
will tell the exact model.

2.) How is it slow? Is it slow loading pages or is it that when you move
the mouse around in the Firefox window it stutters around?

** Summary changed:

- slow
+ Firefox is slow

[Bug 791088] [NEW] ecryptfs-mount-private no longer works after upgrading to Natty

2011-06-01 Thread Andy Brody
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ecryptfs-utils

After installing 11.04 while preserving my home partition, ecryptfs-
mount-private can no longer mount my ~/.Private/ folder. Nothing in
~/.ecryptfs/ has changed since 2009. The folder does not use file name
encryption. The login password for the user was the same prior to
reinstalling. There is no ecryptfs group on the system, if that's
relevant. Using ecryptfs-unwrap-passphrase gives the same hex string as
I have in the backup I created when setting up the folder.

[Bug 775117] Re: Thunar hangs on first launch of each session

2011-06-01 Thread Miles Prower
This affects me on two machines. One is running Xubuntu Natty, upgraded
from Maverick fresh install, 64-bit. The other is running a fresh
install of Mythbuntu (which also uses xfce), i386. Both see a delay on
starting Thunar, followed by no error messages. On the 64-bit install I
get another duplicate folder window open around 10 seconds after the
original (without having started Thunar twice).

[Bug 762987] Re: RT2870 WLAN Stick (D-Link DWA 140) not working, wrong modules loaded

2011-06-01 Thread Wolfgang Kufner
It is a misconception that rt2800usb is the wrong module. It is the
right module. It is just not the only module on your system that says
that it can drive hardware with this ID (which consists of vendor plus
device id).

>From http://wiki.ubuntuusers.de/WLAN/Karten/D-Link I see that there are
two likely device IDs for this device. One is based on RT2870 and one on
RT3070 according to that list. lsusb will give the vendor and device ID
for this stick. Please post this ID. From the staging driver loaded I
assume it will be 07d1: 3c09 (RT2870 based).

Historically, the staging driver might have been necessary for this device, but
I think it should now work with the preferred (in-kernel, non-staging)
rt2800usb.
from the source[1]:
 126 config RT2800USB
127 tristate "Ralink rt27xx/rt28xx/rt30xx (USB) support"
 [..]
 135 ---help---
136 This adds support for rt27xx/rt28xx/rt30xx wireless chipset
family.
 137 Supported chips: RT2770, RT2870 & RT3070, RT3071 & RT3072
 138
139 When compiled as a module, this driver will be called
"rt2800usb.ko".

As Gustav wrote there might be a conflict between the two available
drivers. Could you please blacklist (or even rename the module to
something like rt2870sta.ko.disable) rt2870sta and then shut down and
boot (not just restart) and try again with the rt2800usb? If it doesn't
work we should try and get to the root cause of this so that it will
work for everyone out of the box in oneiric.

[Bug 791089] [NEW] unexpected reboot after rebooting or shuting down from Ubuntu 11.04

2011-06-01 Thread Alex Colorado
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: acpi-support

I have several partitions, 1 with Win 7, 1 with Ubuntu 10.04 and 1 with Ubuntu
11.04.
When I reboot from Ubuntu 11.04, the PC crashes/reboots itself. If I shutdown
from Ubuntu 11.04, on restart the PC crashes during POST. After the
crash/reboot, everything works fine.

Here are the different scenarios:
Reboot from Ubuntu 11.04 back into Ubuntu 11.04: No issue.
Reboot from Ubuntu 11.04 into other OS: Crash and reboot after more or less 40
seconds
Reboot from Ubuntu 11.04 and wait in grub2 menu screen: Crash and reboot after
more or less 40 seconds.
Shutdown from Ubuntu 11.04: Crash and reboot during POST. No issues afterwards
in Windows or Ubuntu
Reboot or shutdown from Windows 7: No issues

Version: Ubuntu 2.6.38-8.42-generic-pae 2.6.38.2

It seems to affect a few users (someone posted this issue in Ubuntu forums)
I chose acpi-support as the culprit package, but it was really a shot in the
dark.

[Bug 790125] Re: Problem installing Datacard SP75 Plus printer

2011-06-01 Thread Till Kamppeter
The problem here is that an unsupported printer (the Datacard SP75 Plus)
is connected to the system and no suitable driver was found for it.
There is no driver associated directly to this model nor the printer
understands any standard printer language like PostScript or PCL.
Therefor it is not possible to use this printer under Linux as long as
the manufacturer does not publish appropriate Linux drivers.

This is not a bug of Ubuntu, it is a problem of the printer manufacturer
not supplying drivers. Closing ...

So we just need to add lsb-release to the build-depends

[Bug 709778] Re: Libreoffice base form design doesn't show toolbars, can't show them

2011-06-01 Thread Onesimus
Why is it that OpenOffice is not in the repositories ? I understand and
accept that LibreOffice is now the default Office suite. But there are
multiple audio applications available in the repositories, and if I
don't like the default one then I merely install the one to my liking.
Why is this not the case for OOo ?

That way it would be easy to revert to OOo given the severity of the
bugs currently encountered in LO.

[Bug 790633] Re: Unity should be more themable and configurable

2011-06-01 Thread Niklas Rosenqvist
I changed the bug to ayatana-design when I learned that it was a more
appropriate category but then also changed the unity affections to
invalid but later learned that those should stay the way they were.
That's why I'm changing back the status to new.

** Changed in: unity
   Status: Invalid => New
