[Bug 642996] Re: Maverick beta: suspend only works once after boot on Thinkpad T60

The suspend process begins and then switches over to resume. In the attached /var/log/messages, the suspend/resume tagged mostly as Sep 19 07:43:04 was successful; the one tagged Sep 19 07:43:34 aborted and went into resume. [Bug 745502] [NEW] Netbook Remix, Can't Switch Users
Public bug reported: Problem: Ubuntu netbook remix 10.04 is unable to fast switch users. If I click on the indicator applet for power/user switching and click on a different user, the computer tries to log out, flickers black a few times and then comes up with a password prompt for the currently logged in user. The same issue happens if I go to "Switch from USERID", it does not go to the login screen as expected to select another user, instead if flicks black and comes up with a password prompt for current user Expected: I'm not sure if this is a unity issue or some other issue but the expected outcome would be similar to other releases/desktop environments. If you click on another user name from the indicator applet it should come up with a password prompt for that user, leaving the current user logged in as well. Same goes with if you go to switch from USERID, this should not log out the current user, only bring up the GDM screen to login to another user at the same time. Another note is that I can log out of current user and then log in to another user, the problem seems to be related to Unity Desktop on Ubuntu 10.04 trying to login to multiple users at the same time without logging out. [Bug 575319] Re: Music doesn't play correctly in pingus
IMHO the conversion to OGG should only be used as a work-around, since it makes the music files unnecessarily large (doesn't it?). I also think it would be a good idea to report this bug to the SDL developers if it is really caused by SDL. Do you know where to do that? Then after that bug is fixed it's probably best to restore the IT files. A point worth mentioning is that those IT files play fine in an external player. [Bug 563878] Re: Ubuntu splashscreen big and ugly after installing ATI/nVidia proprietary graphics driver
The real problem here is people who pretend that the greatest thing a linux distribution can do is immediately embrace new technologies that are not yet fully supported by vendor drivers, yet continue to harass users to install vendor drivers right after installing their OS. When you go even deeper, the real problem is that Ubuntu wants to be at the forefront of technology, but at the same time has a solid following from people who expect it to be stable and presentable as a demonstration of the advantages of Linux above other operating systems. Ubuntu developers can't keep trying to walk along both of these tightropes; they have to decide eventually. Personally I am happy to see Ubuntu keep pushing into new technologies. In the meantime they can't keep simultaneously pushing themselves as a leader in new things like wayland (which I couldn't be more excited about) yet still present themselves as a stable, professional system. They need to branch out into a "hardcore linux guru" version and a "window convert" version if they want to keep pursuing these two completely different career paths. And gslack, you might want to try reading posts before replying to them. I've tried and condoned many solutions to the splash screen problem. I've just taken these posts beyond this simple problem and applied them to the project as a whole. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/563878 Title: Ubuntu splashscreen big and ugly after installing ATI/nVidia proprietary graphics driver -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I want an auto import option , which will automatically import all the pictures added to the system(downloaded wallpapers, etc). [Bug 744325] Re: Unity Launcher stops autohiding and is not responsive
Just a note on this particular bug (that shouldn't influence the decision of what's the best option by default): - this issue is due to compiz being puzzled in the stack order (mainly, it doesn't know that there is a window under the launcher). It's the same issue which leaded to the "invisible windows" that we still sometimes gets. That's basically why when you are in that state, clicks "go through" the launcher and the apps below (or the desktop) are affected. This doesn't only impact the intellihide, as sometimes, some windows can be on screen and appears completely unresponsive. There is a workaround in compiz which should "fix" this issue (regularly restack the whole windows in the right order) that will be uploaded right away beta1. - the only false positive case we seem to encounter in the intellihide behavior as of today is a case where nux doesn't send us (or that we don't capture unity-side) the "leave" events. I'm investigating it this week to see if that can be fixed. Again, this is an update on this bug and the intellihide state. It shouldn't influence the usability of what should be the default option :) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/744325 Title: Unity Launcher stops autohiding and is not responsive -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
