[Bug 696361] Re: Ubuntu sso fails with 'An HTTP non-2xx response code was received'

2011-01-06 Thread Vincent Ladeuil
Same problem here after an upgrade to maverick for a machine that has
been working fine with u1 in the past.

As indicated in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuOne/Bugs, I did reset my
previous key from gnome-keyring, tried connecting and got this error.

Let me know if I can provide more info or where I can search for more
details from my side.

2011-01-06 Thread D3m0n1q_733rz
What I'm trying to get at is that I'm pretty certain that the source of the
leak is in the ubuntu patches. Specifically,
../ubuntu/dm-raid4-5/dm-region-hash.c
Mr. Susi, if you could please take a look at my compilation output from above
and see if that helps track the error, I would appreciate it.

[Bug 138682] Re: ntop permissions are not set right during install

2011-01-06 Thread Jarl
I just experienced this on Maverick 10.10 (after upgrades from previous
releases).

However when I did
sudo apt-get purge ntop
sudo apt-get install ntop

There was no problems. The purge command removed /var/lib/ntop. So the
install after that did not run into directory-exists problem.

[Bug 697999] [NEW] lirc init script seems to load things backwards

2011-01-06 Thread Joel Ebel
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: lirc

The lirc manual describes how to load multiple devices here:
http://www.lirc.org/html/configure.html#multiple

Assuming that the primary device get started on lircd and the secondary
device gets started on lircd1:

In short the proper method is to start lircd1 with --listen, and then
lircd with --connect

The lircd init script does this backwards, lircd with --listen, and then
lircd1 with --connect.

The result is that only the primary device is visible on lircd. Both
devices are visible on lircd1, however, most applications will require
additional configuration in order to communicate with both devices.

I did some more testing. An external USB DVD writer (Samsung) is working with
no problems. Inserted discs are immediately recognized.
The internal drive does not recognize inserted discs. The command "udisks

[Bug 495423] Re: update to grub-pc writes MBR without checks, prompt or backup

2011-01-06 Thread Christian Bejram
Hello,

This very same issue affected me January 1st 2011.

My setup is:
 - a laptop with HDA encrypted using SafeBoot (require a SafeBoot MBR to work)
 - Ubuntu 10.04 LTS 64-bit version on an external USB disk (this becomes
HDB/SDB)
Selecting using BIOS boot menu whether to boot using internal disk or
external disk. (this works very well)

On January 1st I received an system update of grub-pc (and other packages),
accepted and installed all of them.
After the system update it was no longer possible to boot on the internal HD.
Discovered that grub-pc update had trashed the MBR of the internal HD.

Had to do a SafeBoot MBR recovery (which is a bit cumbersome) to get the
system back to normal again.

To me grub/grub2/grub-pc is viral, it should not overwrite and destroy
the MBR without asking.

[Bug 580112] Re: gnome-disk-utility doesn't detect SMART data on T60p

2011-01-06 Thread Martin Pitt
Can you please send the output of

in particular the SMART bits? If that says "unknown", can you please try

then wait some seconds, and use --show-info again?

[Bug 138682] Re: ntop permissions are not set right during install

2011-01-06 Thread Jarl
OK. I can see that I need to be a bit more specific. What I just experienced on
Maverick is exactly what MarcRandolph wrote on 2008-11-08:
Installing ntop (sudo apt-get install ntop) on a machine (10.10 Maverick) where
ntop have never been installed before gives messages like
Warning: The home dir /var/lib/ntop you specified already exists.

and

The home directory `/var/lib/ntop' already exists. Not copying from `/etc/skel'.
adduser: Warning: The home directory `/var/lib/ntop' does not belong to the
user you are currently creating.

However when tried to reproduce it with
sudo apt-get purge ntop
sudo apt-get install ntop
There was no problems.

PostgreSQL 9.0 has the psql option --no-password/-w, which is what you
want to use. It should be OK to also use this in older versions because
they will just fail and print nothing, which is no worse than the
disabled state now.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

It would appear that the mysql-server package has not been installed
prior to installing bacula (as described in the configuration screens
during bacula setup).

Please could you confirm whether this is the case; if mysql-server is
not installed then install this package first and then re-install
bacula.

[Bug 380126] Re: [Karmic] Touchpad not recognised correctly, synaptics driver not in use

2011-01-06 Thread diroots
Hello you all

This post to tell that I tested the patch yesterday.
Good news! now I have a fully fonctionnal synaptics touchpad on my Vostro V13

I applied the patch on a 2.6.32 kernel
I am using Linux Mint LMDE, debian based on testing branch.

Now my synaptics touchpad is well recognized on gpointing-device-
settings, and all options seems to work (horizontal, vertical and circle
scrolling, lock of the pad when typing on the keyboard, ...)

I followed this tutorial (in french, sorry) :
http://ashgenesis.developpez.com/linux/kernel-debian/

so to give a summary of what I did, for other to test :
I modified my /etc/apt/source.list to include sources :
deb-src http://ftp.fr.debian.org/debian testing main contrib non-free

then I download linux-source-2.6.32

I followed first steps, ie :
cd /usr/src
debian:/usr/src# tar -xvjf linux-source-2.6.32.tar.bz2
debian:/usr/src# ln -s linux-source-2.6.32 linux
debian:/usr/src# cp /boot/config-‘uname -r‘ /usr/src/linux/.config

then I downloaded the above patch in the /usr/src directory, named it v13.patch
and applied it :
debian:/usr/src#cd linux
debian:/usr/src/linux#patch -p1 < ../V13.patch

once applied, i launched last line of the tutorial to build the kernel (debian
style) :
debian:/usr/src/linux#make-kpkg --append-to-version "-v13" --initrd
buildpackage --config menuconfig

this last line generated a .deb I installed :
debian:/usr/src/linux#dpkg -i
../linux-image-2.6.32-flo_2.6.32-v13-10.00.Custom_i386.deb

After a reboot, with no xorg.conf specific config file on /etc/X11, with
xserver-xorg-input-synaptics installed, my synaptics touchpad now works
on my Vostro V13.

Many thanks to the author of the patch!
Very happy to get back a fully functionnal touchpad on my V13

(hoping this will be included in future kernel releases)

and btw,... Happy new year!!

[Bug 294648] Re: svn over https with client certificates broken (regression in intrepid)

2011-01-06 Thread Joe Orton
Ignore the contortions of the neon packaging in Debian/Ubuntu.
"libneon-gnutls.so.x" is an invention of Debian, who weirdly persist in
shipping two builds of neon. The Fedora neon (libneon.so.x) is built
against GnuTLS.

If anybody can show me SSL sites which fail with neon 0.29.5 please
speak up. If you are seeing failures with a 0.29.3 build which doesn't
have Bryan Cain's patch applied, that is expected. Upgrade to 0.29.5.

[Bug 698008] [NEW] Relative font sizes/weights not possible in gtkrc

2011-01-06 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
Public bug reported:

[This is copied from
so that it can be linked to a blueprint.]

Currently the "font_name" field in the gtkrc file is the only way to
change fonts and it only allows an absolute change. If a user wants to
use a smaller font for certain widgets or if an application tries to
provide a gtkrc file that results in a more compact dialog layout, it
would be a lot nicer if the font could be specified relative to the
desktop-wide configured font. This missing feature leads for example to

[Bug 698007] [NEW] lirc init script can create circular symlinks

2011-01-06 Thread Joel Ebel
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: lirc

This is related to bug 697999 and specifically my need to work around
that bug.

If, in /etc/lirc/hardware.conf, you set REMOTE_SOCKET to /dev/lircd1 and
transmitter_socket to /dev/lircd, then the lirc init script will create
a circular symlink loop between /dev/lircd and /dev/lircd1. The script
tests if OLD_SOCKET != REMOTE_SOCKET, but it should also make sure that
OLD_SOCKET != TRANSMITTER_SOCKET  Additionally, before removing
${OLD_SOCKET}1 the script should do the same checks, which it currently
does none.

A patch for this solution is attached.

My preference would actually to be to use the new socket locations in
/var/run/lircd, however, then the the order I create those sockets is
irrelevant, as the magical symlinking always symlinks /dev/lircd to the
remote and /dev/lircd1 to the transmitter, which is backwards from how I
need it to be. I'm not actually sure what the best fix is here.
Perhaps it could just test if the socket is /var/run/lirc/lircd\d+ and
if it is, then just symlink to /dev/$(basename $REMOTE_SOCKET) If this
is an acceptable solution, I can probably write up a patch for this
behavior if necessary. However, there may be other cases the current
behavior is designed to correct for. If bug 697999 gets fixed, then
this problem will no longer affect me.

[Bug 638585] Re: package bacula-director-mysql 5.0.1-1ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2011-01-06 Thread James Page
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

It would appear that the mysql-server package has not been installed
prior to installing bacula (as described in the configuration screens
during bacula setup).

Please could you confirm whether this is the case; if mysql-server is
not installed then install this package first and then re-install
bacula.

Thanks

[Bug 698010] [NEW] Importing photos from 2011 does not work.

2011-01-06 Thread Cirion
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: shotwell

Shotwell does import my 2011 photos to the Pictures folder, and they get
sorted by year and date, but they do not show up in shotwell.

I have tried deleting the database, moving the folder, then restart
shotwell and do a new import. All photos from 1999 - 2010 show up, just
not the 2011 photos.

I'm running Shotwell 0.8.0

[Bug 697520] Re: Inspiron 1018 F2 Key and RFKill

2011-01-06 Thread Keng-Yü Lin
reported as bug 698006. I will report my latter finding there.

** Description changed:

The Dell Inspiron 1018 is no longer able to enable wireless. The F2 key
does not disable rfkill as it should. I believe this is a regression
since 10.04, since there was a patch related to this in that release. I
will be installing with 10.04 and will be able to verify that this is in
  fact a regression shortly.

I have tried the k3b.mo file from

it works, after copying it to its location, the accented spanish

Thanks for fixing it.

Could this fix be added to security lucid updates?

[Bug 676080] Re: support temp sensor

2011-01-06 Thread SabreWolfy
Aaron,

Thanks for the information. The text I pasted in my previous post shows
that my sensors reports a CPU temperature, a MB (motherboard I presume)
temperature and core temperatures. Are you saying there is a "CPU
motherboard" value and a "motherboard" value?

byobu is picking up the one called "CPU", which is fine I think. I have
confirmed that this values DOES change over time, so sensors is
reporting something dynamic. In my experience, some sensors temperatures
report some arbitrary fixed temperature value which never changes.

Also my thanks to Dustin for adding this :)

[Bug 627134] Re: Cursor position markers are not cleared from rulers

2011-01-06 Thread Alex Valavanis
The importance field refers to Ubuntu as a whole, not just to the
Inkscape package. Please see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Importance
for details of what each importance means. Accordingly, I'll bump it up
to "Medium" with the rationale that it is "A bug that has a severe
impact on a non-core application." I don't think the importance can
reasonably be set higher because this bug doesn't affect a core Ubuntu
application.

There's not much point in patching the existing Ubuntu package right
now. Inkscape 0.48.1 is due to be released very shortly, and this will
fix numerous bugs. As soon as it is released, we can package it for
Ubuntu.

** Changed in: inkscape (Ubuntu)
   Importance: Low => Medium
