[Bug 481819] Re: [i945gm] external monitor hotkey breaks gnome-display-properties, changes theme
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-evdev I have a Lenovo X60 with an external docking station, and an external monitor attached. When I dock the laptop, and press Fn+f7 to activate the external monitor, the following happens: 1. My gnome theme is changed from DarkRoom to (I guess?) the standard theme. 2. The monitor is activated with the laptop screen set up to the left of the external monitor. 3. Using gnome-display-properties or xrandr to change the layout, does nothing and gives no error message. 4. After logging out and in again, my gnome theme comes back to DarkRoom and gnome-display-properties works OK. 1. and 3. are the problem. [Bug 673366] Re: Default worker_connections too high for default system
“If you get into that much load, you should know how to configure your system to deal with it.” I don’t feel it is unreasonable to expect that the default OS settings won’t cause the disk to fill up (and, in doing so, cause other stuff to crash) when the default connection limit is reached. In our case, someone started hotlinking to a resource which caused an abnormally high number of connections; normally, this server is very low-load and doesn’t see more than 10 concurrent connections at any given time. What I am hearing from you is that it’s dangerous and unwise to assume that Ubuntu can provide sane settings out of the box, and it was foolish of me to not plan to receive 100 times the normal amount of traffic. While you are entitled to this opinion, it is not a position that I understand or agree with. If that’s not what you intended, I apologise for misunderstanding, and hope you can clarify. [Bug 574585] Re: Windows on widget layer move up screen
Interesting. I've been noticing this with any old window in general (I don't use the widgets layer, I hardly know what it is). Any time I hide and then show a window, it climbs up the screen by one title bar height, until it hits the top. Then it stops. By hide/show, I mean make the window completely disappear using some sort of toggling built into the app, not just minimize/restore. This upward movement happens in compiz, but not in metacity. This was especially annoying me in audacious (see bug report at http://jira.atheme.org/browse/AUDPLUG-301). As mentioned in the above comments, I've also discovered that if I disable audacious's title bar by switching it to the classic winamp GUI mode, the upward movement disappears. I've confirmed the same problem in my own custom qt app. I'm running amd64 maverick, which was upgraded from lucid. I suspect this problem began after upgrading to maverick. I'm using the latest nvidia binary driver from the repos. I have my panel at the bottom of the screen. I can't replicate this problem on other maverick machines running compiz. I suspect I have some strange setting somewhere that might be causing this problem, and I bet it's related to everyone's problem here regarding the widgets layer. In other words, this may not be so much a bug as a misconfiguration. I've tried disabling the "Place windows" plugin in CCSM, with no luck (it always automatically re-enables itself). For audacious, I now simply force it to always be at the bottom right, but that's not a solution. Any ideas where this misconfiguration might be occurring? Is there an easy way to reset all compiz setting, like perhaps deleting some config file or folder, or completely reinstalling all compiz packages? Also, bug #574856 and bug #631664 seem related. -- Windows on widget layer move up screen https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/574585 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 664431] Re: QT on armel is built with NEON by default
That's already so: $ git ls-files *_neon* src/gui/image/qimage_neon.cpp src/gui/painting/qdrawhelper_neon.cpp src/gui/painting/qdrawhelper_neon_asm.S src/gui/painting/qdrawhelper_neon_p.h These files are the ones that contain 99% of the Neon code in Qt and they're properly run-time detected now (as far as I know). The only unprotected code is in qstring.cpp: the cost of runtime detection is higher than the benefit, so we decided not to do it. What exactly do you think should be done so you don't have to monitor what's going on in your own system? [Bug 681361] Re: [945GM] dual screen crash with total resolution bigger than 2048x2048
Hello again Tested. When I use compiz without "visual effects" problem doesn't exist. I had mutter enabled when the problem was happening, well... I think mutter _is_ using some compositing or whatever... I've installed compiz-icon to enable compiz with it. Unfortunately I can't enable those "visual effects" right now- with or without dual-head. Any attempt makes windows loose it's decoration and then things fall back to previous settings. I must say that "the 2048x2048 problem" was looking quite similar- the X didn't crashed totally, only windows kept flickering, without its decorations, and then after a while it felt back to previous settings. I've installed intel drivers from natty; no difference (although it seems graphics are working a bit faster :-). Just upgraded from 10.04 I have 2 ati radeon 4870s which worked fine before the upgrade. After the upgrade opening up applications at random crashes the display so I'm back at the login. An example is opening up a browser is fine. Playing YouTube crashes Opening a terminal window is fine Opening up an X application like keypassx crashes Nautilus explorer is fine Try to play something with VLC media crashes really annoying, tried doing a clean and replace with the fglrx drivers directly from ati as well as the ones provided through the additional driver option under administration, same thing happens. -- Xorg crash on attaching or detaching any USB device https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/681321 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 683531] Re: panel not there after maverick -> natty upgrade
While this is part of the release notes for alpha1 I think it would be better to show *something* even if its just a zenity dialog saying "sorry, logout and select classic session". ** Summary changed: - panel not there after maverick -> natty upgrade + panel not there after maverick -> natty upgrade with no 3d -- panel not there after maverick -> natty upgrade with no 3d https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/683531 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
