[Bug 673919] Re: Syntax error in geoip plugins

2010-11-15 Thread imagine
Hello,

the bug exists in every Ubuntu/Debian/Upstream version (6.7.dfsg-1ubuntu0.1,
6.9~dfsg-1ubuntu3, 6.9.5~dfsg-4, 7.0 development branch, etc).
It was probably introduced with the first version of the GeoIP-plugin (which
was yonks ago) and is living happily since then.

[Bug 668666] Re: ubuntuone-syncdaemon check all the files every time

2010-11-15 Thread Naty Bidart
Hi Nicola,

I don't think the new syncdaemon (which is not ready yet) will be
available for older versions of Ubuntu. The older versions of Ubuntu
will only accepts fixes for bugs, this issue (despite not being minor)
is not a bug fix but a performance issue.

The fixes will be available in Natty and above.

Cheers!

Re: [Bug 668251] Re: Nautilus Czech translations need manual import

El ds 13 de 11 de 2010 a les 15:52 +, en/na Sesivany va escriure:

Well, it's no one's "fault", really. GNOME and Ubuntu are translated by
volunteers, so the fact that translations were submitted outside the
deadline most probably simply means that they had other obligations and
couldn't make it for that day.

There are many ways in which you can help:

  * Translations. Help the Czech team with translations, so that
they can be finished earlier.
  * Get upstream translations. Upload the upstream translation
manually as explained in the previous messages, so that they are
available in the next language pack
  * Testing. Before they are released to the majority of users, help
testing the Czech language pack [1]. The start of the testing
period will be announced on the translators mailing list [2].

As mentioned earlier as well, the schedule for language packs is being
redeveloped [3], so I cannot tell you exactly when the next Maverick
language pack will be released, other than "soon". If you'd also like to
contribute on that, please have a look at the specification and get in
touch with me to find out in what you can help.

In summary, if you are willing to contribute, just get in touch in
whichever way you prefer with the translations team [2], or feel free to
contact me directly.

Thanks!

[Bug 299869] Re: [intrepid] quanta suggest install cervisia that is already installed

2010-11-15 Thread jervin
That doesn't seem to work for me

For Cervisia: in Quanta + 3.5.10 on Ubuntu 10.10 with Cervisia 3.5.0, and in
Settings/Configure Plugins...
I have tried setting location to /usr/lib/kde4 and file name to cervisiapart.so
and I've tried setting location to nothing and file name to
/usr/lib/kde4/cervisiapart.so. Both modules cervisiapart.so and
cervisiapart.la are in the specified subdirectory and Cervisia is listed as
installed by the package manager on my system. But I still get the "the file
cervisiapart.so is not installed or it is not reachable" The owner of the so
(and la) module is set to root and the flags to 644.

Pretty much the same for Konsole except there is not "la" module in
/usr/lib/kde4.

None of the moduels cervisiapart.so/la nor libkonsolepart.so exist in
/usr/lib/kde3. It just appears that Quanta + doesn't like the kde4
versions or either la or so modules.

[Bug 538256] Re: Screen brightness not controllable on Lenovo Ideapad S10-3, U350, and Z360

2010-11-15 Thread Ali Onur Uyar
The bug also affects Lenovo Ideapad U150. On this laptop, the brightness
buttons work, the brightness applet notification pops up to show current
brightness level and the respective files in /sys and /proc folders are
updated with the brightness value, but the display brightness level
stays at maximum value.

Only by using setpci command I am able to set display brightness, so I am using
/etc/acpi/ideapad-video.sh script as a temporary
workaround.

I've also tried upgrading to 2.6.36 kernel from the Kernel PPA, but
there is no improvement to the brightness setting issue.

[Bug 362783] Re: fist double-click does nothing, second opens eog but not image

2010-11-15 Thread Id2ndR
Interesting, I tried this : $ while true; do eog
109d51c36a79b78f81d31867daca03dd.jpg & sleep 2 ; kill %1 ; sleep 1; done

On my computer, the image appears about 50% of the time. I often get 3
or 4 tries with the images, and the 3 or 4 next tries the window of eog
doesn't appear. I fail to get the window with no image inside using the
commands above.

[Bug 674417] Re: unable to get logs either in daemon nor foreground

2010-11-15 Thread Mathieu Alorent
Hi Chuck,

As suggested, I've tried to add '-vvv' directly in the upstart job.

now it looks like :
exec /usr/sbin/in.tftpd -vvv --listen --user ${TFTP_USERNAME} --address
${TFTP_ADDRESS} ${TFTP_OPTIONS} ${TFTP_DIRECTORY}

then:
sudo service tftpd-hpa stop
sudo service tftpd-hpa start

but still the same issue :(

My guess is that it has nothing to do with upstart as if I launch tftpd-hpa
manually with foreground option
(/usr/sbin/in.tftpd -vvv --foreground --user tftp --address 172.31.20.5:69
--secure -vvv -m /srv/tftp/remap /srv/tftp/fai) I don't get any log output too.

[Bug 675576] [NEW] grab-attachments doesn't work with private bugs anymore

2010-11-15 Thread Peter Petrakis
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubuntu-dev-tools

This appears to be a regression. I work alot on the OEM side and
have to deal with private bugs almost exclusively. Some time after a launchpad
update, I found that grab-attachments ceased to function. At first I thought
it was my system and ruled that out, then I brought it to IS's attention to
explain
to me the use of lplibrarian.internal why it's no longer accessible.

Here's the trace, the same tool works perfectly fine with public bugs on
the same system. Yes I have credentials to access this bug.

[Bug 675581] [NEW] NV50 freeze when doing intensive tasks

2010-11-15 Thread Odin Hørthe Omdal
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau

A sure-fire way to freeze the machine is to use Rawstudio on my 12MB
NEF-files, and quicksave them to JPG. Then the machine freezes after 1-3
tries.

It also freezes quite frequently other times.

[Bug 675579] [NEW] UbuntuOne crashes when stopping synchronization; Bug Buddy is confusing

2010-11-15 Thread David Owen
Public bug reported:

Everything starts when I tried to stop synchronization with ubuntu one
of my folder "documents". Gnome stops working and I was forced to quit.
>From that instant "bug buddy" starts with a message requiring the
installation of a system debugger since it hadn't catch enough
information to fill a report (?).

That window insists in appearing continually. And when I force it to
quit, good by gnome.

Solution?! I don't know. I've killed ubuntu one and removed "Bug Buddy"
with synaptic, and things are normal again. But if I restart ubuntu one,
the system keeps in creating processes (gnome windows?), a lot of them.

How do I fix this problem? Is this a bug? Thanks for any help.

[Bug 656631] Re: resume from suspend does not initialize the display on 2.6.35 kernel

2010-11-15 Thread Jamie Krug
It looks like I may have a fix/workaround that works for me, from this forum
thread:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=10100625&postcount=75

Basically, I add my wireless module ID to SUSPEND_MODULES in
/etc/pm/config.d/unload_module. Not only does this seemed to have made
my suspend/resume blank screen hangs disappear, but I've also noticed
reconnecting to wifi networks, or connecting to a new one upon resume to
be much faster (read above forum post for more details).

I should state that I barely understand what this is doing or why I'm
doing it, but it was a suggestion that I've tried and it seems to work!
I hope this somehow moves this issue along to a more final resolution.

Here's the basic commands I've used to apply this workaround...

$ lspci | grep Wireless
03:00.0 Network controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8191SEvB
Wireless LAN Controller (rev 10)

$ lsmod | grep r8192
r8192se_pci 507324 0

# edit this file...
gksu gedit /etc/pm/config.d/unload_module &
# ...paste this line and save:
SUSPEND_MODULES="r8192se_pci"

[Bug 675179] Re: SMplayer doesn't display video in MKV files where video isn't the first stream (mplayer works)

2010-11-15 Thread mlx

Interesting, but it seems not to be - I'm fairly certain I didn't see any
video from this file right from trying to play it the first time. Now, I
moved the ~/.config/smplayer/file_settings folder to /tmp/ and it still
doesn't display video. After stopping the playback, there was one file in
a newly-created smplayer/file_settings folder, which I'm also attaching,
along with this "new-first" playback logs of both mplayer and smplayer.

[Bug 675585] [NEW] [Realtek ALC1200] No sound thru speakers (hdmi); sound only thru headphone jack

2010-11-15 Thread ppp
Public bug reported:

I have no sound in my system. When I connect headphones to the headphone
jack, I get sound (thru headphones). But I want sound through the
speakers (inbuilt in moniter - HP2228h) connected by a hdmi cable. Works
well under Windows. So no hardware problems.

Recently installed Ubuntu 10.10. Was with Fedora 12 before. Under Fedora
12, I downloaded the latest alsa driver, changed the file
'patch_nvhdmi.c', to include the following two lines at the appropriate
place.

{ .id = 0x10de06e0, .name = "My HDMI", .patch = patch_nvhdmi },
MODULE_ALIAS("snd-hda-codec-id:10de06e0");

And I got sound through speakers. With Ubuntu I tried the same trick,
but then aplay -l did not show any sound devices (and I had to reinstall
the entire Ubuntu system; didn't know how to roll back).

Please somebody help me.

Thanks a lot for your advice.
Prasad.

2010-11-15 Thread Monkey
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem.
2. include the information requested at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingUbiquity/AttachingLogs as separate attachments
by visiting your bug's web page.

[Bug 675588] [NEW] Filenames with non-ascii characters are not extracted properly

If the zip file was created on windows and it contains files or
directories with non-ascii (or maybe non-utf-8), those characters are
not extracted properly.

For instance, if there's a file called 'García.txt' it will be extracted
as 'Garca.txt (codificación no válida)'.

Similar things happen with unrar.
However, if the file is created in Ubuntu, it will be extracted properly in
Ubuntu.

Bluedevil does contain translations for some languages.

Check out

I guess the test can be done in any of those languages that are
complete. If their translations are not in the kde language pack, this

[Bug 675591] [NEW] apport-bug scrolls slowly with large amounts of text

2010-11-15 Thread Kevin Hunter
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: apport

When I want to inspect a bug report, I'll often expand one of the
triangles to see what information apport wants to send to Launchpad.
When it has collected a large amount of information, such as when it
decides to include a very large log file, the apport window slows very
slowly, and jittery in chunks.

If I had to hazard a guess, it looks like the scrolling algorithm
depends on the amount of the text in an exponential fashion, like O(n^2)
or something.

I'd expect it to scroll as fast when it has a 1 GiB of text to display
as when it has 1 KiB.

[Bug 675587] Re: Please remove and blacklist pyxpcom from the archive

2010-11-15 Thread Chris Coulson
Just to be clear - the Debian package installs a binary component
directly in to /usr/lib/xulrunner/components. On Ubuntu, this is a
volatile directory, as it has a version number in it which changes
between minor versions. This would mean we'd have to do a pyxpcom update
every time we rolled out a Firefox security update.

In general, dropping random binaries in to the application directory is
bad, and is strongly discouraged by Mozilla (this is why we have a
components.list, to prevent these binaries from being loaded at run time
and to discourage vendors from doing exactly this type of thing).

The only correct way to distribute the binary component provided by
pyxpcom is to bundle it as an extension.

[Bug 600782] Re: fatal error on startup - "ramzswap: Unknown parameter `disksize_kb'"

2010-11-15 Thread Giuseppe Scarciglia
Hi,
I've the same problem on startup of my ubuntu 10.04, the message is:

FATAL: Error inserting ramzswap
(/lib/modules/2.6.35-22-generic-pae/kernel/drivers/staging/ramzswap/ramzswap.ko):Unknown
symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)

And in dmesg i can see:

ramzswap: module is from the staging directory, the quality is unknown, you
have been warned.
ramzswap: Unknown parameter `disksize_kb'

The message comes from when I installed the kernel 2.6.35-22.34 from
Lucid PPA. I had to install this kernel version because the 2.6.32
kernel does not recognize the entire hardware of my laptop. Does anyone
know how to fix it or, where applicable, disable compcache/ramzswap?

Thanks to all,

[Bug 380126] Re: [Karmic] Touchpad not recognised correctly, synaptics driver not in use

2010-11-15 Thread Odin Hørthe Omdal
This bug seems to be a broader version of this bug:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/359363

I'm also on Dell Precision M4500 with Ubuntu 10.10 64 bit. It might even
be a duplicate?
