[Bug 669792] [NEW] Current version is not compatible with sync servers
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xul-ext-sync The official Firefox Sync package is at 1.5. I get an "error while syncing" in Firefox when I use 1.4.3, with the message "You need to update Firefox Sync to continue syncing your data". Oddly, setting up sync works just fine. [Bug 657031] Re: [08ff:2810] AuthenTec, Inc. AES2810 fingerprint reader not recognized after upgrading to Ubuntu 10.10
Scott, I don't think I was missing your point. Lenovo only sell T500 with Windows so they only care about Windows drivers. AuthenTec will only do something if it makes a profit and the only operating system that people can get on their T500 machines in the shops is Windows, so only Windows matters to them. Thus no-one with any financial clout is going to care, except Canonical, who I thought had a policy of all hardware working under Ubuntu out of the box. Clearly this is not the case for the T500. So unless a big corporate suddenly decides it has to fund Canonical to have the driver, Canonical will have to fund the project internally or it will never happen. I am guessing from the apparent lack of official Canonical corporate interest in this bug, the answer is this bit of hardware will not now ever work in Ubuntu and definitely never in Debian. [Bug 669808] [NEW] Nagios3 checks not scheduled after clocks change from DST
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nagios3 http://labs.opsview.com/2009/10/nagios-scheduling-bug/ describes a bug which we also encountered on nagios 3.2 in lucid. After the clocks are set back 1 hour for Daylight Saving Time (last weekend, in the UK), nagios fails to schedule any service checks for the next 24 hours. Manually rescheduling a check causes that check to start being checked properly again. I believe this was fixed in nagios v 3.2.2; the changelog (http://www.nagios.org/projects/nagioscore/history/core-3x) includes "Fix for choosing next valid time on day of DST change when clocks go one hour backwards". However I can't find a corresponding bug in nagios's bugtracker. Would it be possible to apply the same patch to the 3.2.0 source in Lucid? Or failing that, consider upgrading to 3.2.2 in some future release of Ubuntu, to avoid this problem? ** Affects: nagios3 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Nagios3 checks not scheduled after clocks change from DST https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/669808 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 669807] [NEW] Banshee doesn't see some of my songs
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: banshee Hi, Upon hearing that Banshee would be the default music player in Natty, I installed it to try it out. However, it seems to be missing more than half of my music collection: whereas Rhythmbox shows 994 songs, Banshee only shows 443 (so it's missing more than a half!) Even when I tell it to import a folder where I know are mp3 files it failed to detect, it still won't find them. Is this a known bug? I have tracked down the problem with mainline kernels up until 2.6.34.y where it remained working. [Bug 606794] Re: Language preference is not stored
It's not totally clear whether you tried to set language from the language-selector UI or from the language picker on the login screen. Anyway, since ~/.profile was missing, I'd like to mention that extensive code reorganization was made after v. 0.5.8. At least the current language-selector code should create ~/.profile if it does not exist. As regards language setting from the login screen, new code is about to be committed that changes the behavior. I tried 10.10 but it is unusable (network manager stops working after resume, gtk forgets theme after resume, twinkle has huge memory leak although it is the same package version as in 10.04 [it is the only SIP VoIP program I can get to work]) and my display problem is not solved either. So I switched back to 10.04. In https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=29767 (see comments 6 and 5) there is a patch to the intel gpu drivers in the kernel which make at least the video output on the HDMI monitor work. I think it is more a workaround than a solution: audio must be disabled (see comment 6) although the monitor has audio support, otherwise the screen stays black. ** Bug watch added: freedesktop.org Bugzilla #29767 http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=29767 -- monitor does not accept hdmi https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/571406 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 390001] Re: Gnome visual effects not retained after reboot
I found that by booting using Debian Squeeze with the user home directory in a partition shared by Debian and Ubuntu, doing the set up in Debian and rebooting in Debian, the configuration was saved. I use Unison to mirror my home directory between laptop and workstation so that technique cured the problem ont he workstation without having to load Debian at all. [Bug 668196] Re: Can't get contextual menu for maximized windows
This raises another issue; let's suppose I have two windows: - Window A (unmaximized, focused, at the front). - Window B (maximized, unfocused, at the back). Of course it does nothing: at that moment, the panel looks like B's titlebar but is actually A's toolbar. [Bug 669817] [NEW] [feature request] common network-settings between different frontends
Public bug reported: It would be nice to share network / connection settings between different network-manager frontends such as nm-applet, cli or kde based ones. Therefore it would make sense to move the place where the settings are stored out of the gconf-tree to a more common place like e.g. ~/.config/network-manager and store the settings in a common format e.g. XML-based. To encrypt the wep/wpa etc keys in the config file a symetric encryption algorithm like AES could be used and the required passphrase for that algorithm could be stored in the respective session store like gnome keyring or kwallet.
