[Bug 23707] Re: nscd should notice system changes

2010-10-09 Thread Anzenketh
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all
reported bugs in a timely manner.
There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and
your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a
lot if you could test the current Ubuntu development version (10.10). If you
can test it, and it is still an issue, we would appreciate if you could upload
updated logs by running apport-collect , and any other logs that are
relevant for this particular issue.

[Bug 657209] [NEW] CPU usage spike when apt-get writes to an SSD formattted in btrfs

2010-10-09 Thread ks64
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: btrfs-tools

On a netbook's SSD formatted in btrfs (with a separate /boot partition
of course), whenever I run apt-get in a terminal or Software
Center/Synaptic in a GUI, the CPU usage spikes to near-100% (it's an
Intel Atom). I have absolutely no idea what's causing this CPU spike,
but I definitely think it's a bug within btrfs itself.

I just did a fresh reinstall of Xubuntu 10.10 RC, and yes the problem is
that 'xfsettingsd' is not running for some reason. You can fix this by
adding 'xfsettingsd' to your "Application Autostart" group in the xfce 4
settings manager.

[Bug 22070] Re: Logitech Quickcam Messenger is not usable

2010-10-09 Thread Lee Jones
Yes, it will only happen to the ST6422, as most 'boards' have a
secondary "Low-Bandwidth Mode" to switch to when -ENOSPC is received
from the USB subsystem. However, the ST6422 lacks this functionality. As
I say, the real issue is in the USB subsystem. This has been addressed
in the latest kernels i.e. Maverick.

Leave it with me and I'll see what I can do.

[Bug 390959] Re: Microsoft digital media pro keyboard recognised as joystick - interferes with some games

2010-10-09 Thread Lee Jones
Here is a snip from Documentation/devices.txt

13 char Input core
  0 = /dev/input/js0First joystick
  1 = /dev/input/js1Second joystick
...
 32 = /dev/input/mouse0 First mouse
 33 = /dev/input/mouse1 Second mouse
...
 63 = /dev/input/mice   Unified mouse
 64 = /dev/input/event0 First event queue
 65 = /dev/input/event1 Second event queue

For some reason the Microsoft Digital Media Pro Keyboard driver is
requesting to be handled at a joystick. I don't know much about the
area, but I will have a dig around in the code soon enough.

[Bug 575000] Re: Conflict between webcam and wifi

2010-10-09 Thread mrhonne
Recently I tried a Logitech Quickcam E2500 on my computer and it worked
(after I switched of the "auto exposure", but that's a different
story/bug). So this bug is quite sensitive concerning the web cam.

Next I tried the Logitech Webcam C500 again. I had a look at the syslog
when I plugged it in. After the kernel reports the registration of two
new usb devices (uvcvideo and snd-usb-audio), the NetworkManager reports
the deactivation of the wifi device and tries to reestablish an internet
connection (without success). Finally, the syslog becomes flooded with
messages from the kernel. There are only two different messages:

phy6 -> rt2x00usb_vendor_request: Error - Vendor Request 0x07 failed for
offset 0x3040 with error -108.

phy6 -> rt2x00usb_regbusy_read: Error - Indirect register access failed:
offset=0x308c, value=0x8800

The Vendor Request has sometimes the value 0x06 and the offset changes between
several values, I saw 0x30c0, 0x30c4,
0x3040, 0x308c and 0x3090. The first message comes about five times in a row
and then comes the second. This seems to repeat endlessly, even after
unplugging the web cam!

Is there any other information I can retrieve to solve this bug?

With best regards

mrhonne

PS: here is a part of the syslog after plugging in the web cam:

[Bug 194157] Re: vim can't expand buffer names after detaching/reattaching from a screen session

[Bug 623825] Re: Install poppler-data for CJK languages

2010-10-09 Thread madbiologist
It's not just required for CJK documents. I have come across other bug
reports with incomplete/incorrect text rendering which were fixed by
installing poppler data. I can't find any of them at the moment,
presumably because they are marked Fix Released.

I probably closed some of them myself. How can I view bugs which I am
subscribed to but have marked Fix Released?

Re: [Bug 293970] Re: bonobo-activation-server : could not associate with desktop session

2010-10-09 Thread hipster
Hi,

I had this problem before...

What I did was reset my bios setting. I don't know what the value was
before (sorry) nor did I know what the values are now. But something in the
bios somehow change the way Ubuntu behave and I stop having this problem...

I try this after reading a post send before for this bug.

Good luck.

[Bug 657227] [NEW] gnome-shell doesn't respect user font settings

2010-10-09 Thread Delan Azabani
Public bug reported:

gnome-shell always seems to be using DejaVu Sans, bold, at a particular
size, for the shell top bar, and DejaVu Sans, regular weight, at a
smaller size, for the 'activities' panel. If the user sets a different
font, however, nothing changes in gnome-shell as the font settings seem
to be hard-coded.

[Bug 655024] Re: Using higher cpu usage

2010-10-09 Thread Taylor "Ripps" LeMasurier-Wren
Okay, I captured it while the cpu was spiking. It's lowest is about 4%.
It had 2 torrents queued up, both of them were inactive.

As I mentioned in a previous post, I'm using an ATI Radeon 9600 Pro
using the Xorg r300 drivers, default to Maverick. Other programs don't
seem to be as laggy as Transmission. It's like the program itself needs
a second before it will register any clicks to it.

I've started using renice on it so that everything will work more
smoothly while I'm downloading torrents, but I'm going to start looking
for other clients to use soon if this keeps up.

[Bug 178442] Re: Pulseaudio fails to initialize ICE17xx chipsets

2010-10-09 Thread jmaasing
This has been a problem since pulseaudio was introduced. I did a fresh install
of 10.04 Lucid and the same bug is still there.
Personally I solve it by removing pulseaudio but I tried the suggestion in #30
first and it worked for output.

[Bug 657214] Re: package linux-image-2.6.32-25-generic 2.6.32-25.44 failed to install/upgrade: defektes Tar-Dateisystem - Paketarchiv ist defekt

2010-10-09 Thread Marcel Stimberg
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that there was an error caused by a corrupted
archive. Please execute the following commands, as it will clear your
package cache, in a terminal ( Applications -> Accessories -> Terminal )
:

sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get update

Then try performing the update again. This will likely resolve your
issue. If so please set the bug's status to Invalid. Thanks in advance!

[Bug 657198] Re: Computer Janitor wont delete files, saying close other package managers, but there are none running...? help?

2010-10-09 Thread Marcel Stimberg
Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does
not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to
a question in the support tracker. We appreciate the difficulties you
are facing, but it would make more sense to raise problems you are
having in the support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if
you are uncertain if they are bugs. For help on reporting bugs, see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#When%20not%20to%20file%20a%20bug.

[Bug 587209] Re: DSUM() does not recognise concatenated values for search criteria in OO 3.2 (does in 3.1 and windows OO 3.2)

2010-10-09 Thread Guillermo Molleda
Same behaviour, in my Ubuntu 10.04 with OpenOffice 3.2 of Oracle, in
english (DSUM) and spanish (BDSUM).

To reproduce error, put in a new Sheet

1A  B   C   DE  F
2   A   B
3   10  1   A  A
4   20  2   >20>20
5   30  3   >20
CONCATENATE(">2","0")
6   40  4
7   50  5   20 0
8   60  6   DSUM(B2:C8,"B",D3:D4)  DSUM(B2:C8,"B",E3:E4)

In the column D I wrote >20 with keys, but in column E I wrote the equation
=CONCATENATE(">2","0") in cell E4.
The results is 20 in manual and 0 with concatenate equation.

[Bug 655024] Re: Using higher cpu usage

2010-10-09 Thread Sherlock
Transmission 2.04 is also very laggy for me. The download/upload speeds
are ok, but the gui is terribly slow. It takes 0.5-2 seconds while the
app respond to any clicks (eg. pause/start or changing priority of files
in the torrent etc. All other apps are fine.

I have an Asrock A330ION mainboard (Intel® Dual-Core Atom™ Processor 330
1.6 GHz, NVIDIA® MCP7A-ION Chipset, Integrated NVIDIA® GeForce 9 Series
using DVI-I at 1400x900), 2 GB RAM, unmodified Maverick RC (updated
every day), default Transmission settings (as I can recall).

Please tell me if you need more info or if I can help in any way.

[Bug 197548] Re: nvtv cannot find a supported video card

2010-10-09 Thread mhotze
FAQ file in /usr/share/doc/nvtv says: "The GeForce4 MX, GeForce4 GO and
GeForce4 MX GPU cards sometimes use an internal TV encoder chip (which
shows up as 'NVIDIA', 'NV17' or 'NV18' as the name of the TV encoder in
the XFree log). This encoder is not supported at all by nvtv yet, and
without the hardware it's impossible to figure out how to do it."

Since the Xorg.0.log says "(--) NVIDIA(0): TV encoder: NVIDIA", it's
basically it's no use installing nvtv: the NVidia card is unsupported.
Please note there has been no activity of NVTV since April 2008.
