[Bug 622563] [NEW] Hamster is causing many wakeups
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: hamster-applet I've noticed (by running powertop) that hamster-applet is causing a lot of wakeups --- in my case, around 90 per second. This is rather a lot when trying to conserve battery power. I don't see why it should have to wakeup that often. Is there perhaps a way to make it less power hungry? If it matters, the command line for hamster is "python /usr/lib/hamster- applet/hamster-applet --oaf-activate-iid=OAFIID:Hamster_Applet_Factory --oaf-ior-fd=24" Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS hamster -applet 2.30.1-0ubuntu0.1 ** Affects: hamster-applet (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Hamster is causing many wakeups https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/622563 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 609921] Re: plymouthd assert failure: plymouthd: ./plugin.c:697: open_input_source: Assertion `backend != ((void *)0)' failed.
could it be that somehow thread synchronization is the cause? I'm connecting it to the general plymouth bug that is particularly noticeable in plymouth/nvidia interaction, the low chance of a desktop; as there when viewing the log messages, at times they are brief / few, at times there are more messages, it seems that possibly a successful boot is when there are more messages? -- plymouthd assert failure: plymouthd: ./plugin.c:697: open_input_source: Assertion `backend != ((void *)0)' failed. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/609921 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 621075] Re: Python app indicator fails to send "activate" signals
All menu items fail to send the activate signal. As in, when you click a menu item, the signal which is sent is "activate" and it's never received by my callbacks in ibus/ui/gtk/panel.py. This includes both the input method selection, and the other items in the menu. It's bizarre, but I think it's related to the python bindings and not a problem in libindicator/libappindicator. -- Python app indicator fails to send "activate" signals https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/621075 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 620522] Re: gnome-terminal crashed with SIGSEGV in g_type_check_is_value_type()
While looking through this, I realize there was another library that it would be good to have debug symbols for, libvte9, so I installed the debug symbols for that, reproduced the crash and attached the trace here. The last trace within gnome-terminal before it goes off to the libraries is this one: #9 0x0042460d in terminal_screen_realize (widget=0x9de0f0) at terminal-screen.c:301 priv = 0x9ded60 If we look at the code after this line in terminal-screen.c we get - 301GTK_WIDGET_CLASS (terminal_screen_parent_class)->realize (widget); 302 303/* FIXME: Don't enable this if we have a compmgr. */ The terminal_screen_realize function has six statements. Before the last two is this Fixme comment. So I guess that this has been a problem is already known, or at least, this has been a problem for something similar before. ** Attachment added: "More robust trace - with libvte9 debug as well" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-terminal/+bug/620522/+attachment/1512258/+files/gdb-gnome-terminal.txt ** Changed in: gnome-terminal (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Confirmed -- gnome-terminal crashed with SIGSEGV in g_type_check_is_value_type() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/620522 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Another thing I should mention - when in gnome-appearance-properties and switching the visual effects state from normal to none, if I have various windows of different programs in the different workspaces, they all wind up in the first workspace after the switch, as does my view. Ciao. Dovrebbe essere risolto da un bel po' di tempo. Era un problema con il power-manager di gnome, che con questo hardware interagiva in maniera non corretta. [Bug 622582] [NEW] gnome-appearance-properties: visual effects change combines workspaces
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-control-center In Meerkat, when in gnome-appearance-properties, in the Visual Effects tab, changing visual effects from normal to none results in all windows in all workspaces to wind up in the first workspace. So workspace one has every window that was opened, and all the other workspaces are empty. This behavior seems to play a role in crashing gnome-terminal's which are open as well ( https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source /gnome-terminal/+bug/620522 ). The preferred behavior would be that one could turn off visual effects without gnome-appearance-properties, or some function it calls, mucking with the workspaces as it does. $ lsb_release -a No LSB modules are available.
