[Bug 614853] Re: kernel panic divide error: 0000 [#1] SMP
In an attempt to figure out the issue I decided to change the IO scheduler thinking it might help considering the contents of the trace. I set one group of nodes to noop and another to deadline. I have seen panics on both groups of machines since doing so. From the (partial) traces I've gotten from those machines the noop trace looks quite a bit different while the deadline trace looks pretty similar with lots of bits regarding xfs. [Bug 618933] Re: Unable to install flash 10 (32b), nspluginwrapper, and its wrapped flash so not showing up in about:plugins
Sorry, I missed your original update. Let's try something else. Sometimes Firefox profiles can become corrupt and/or extensions can conflict. Could you please try this with a new profile and see if the problem still exists? You do not need to delete your old profile to test. If this helps, you might want to try to disable all your extensions and re-enable them one by one until you find the problematic one. Now it is working. I'm not sure what fixed it, but here are a few factors: I set: LC_ALL=en_US.UTF8 I put the international keyboard as the default keyboard. I installed qt-ibus support, and set ibus input method to none (not xim). [Bug 618967] [NEW] gnome-power-manager reports BadAtom, crashes on launch
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager Running latest updated gnome-power-manager (2.31.6-0ubuntu1) on maverick, my laptop doesn't show battery info in the power management configuration, doesn't sleep correctly, and has reduced runtime. Turns out gnome-power-management isn't running, and will not launch manually. Attempting to launch on command line: Gdk-ERROR **: The program 'gnome-power-manager' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadAtom (invalid Atom parameter)'. (Details: serial 161 error_code 5 request_code 150 minor_code 15) (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously; that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it. To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.) aborting... Trace/breakpoint trap (core dumped) gnome-power-manager will not start on boot, from Alt-F2, or from command line. Not sure if this has anything to do with the fact that I'm stuck using the radeon driver instead of fglrx due to the Xorg upgrade. Hi Randall, thank you for reporting this bug and working with us to make Ubuntu better! I notice these lines in the Dmesg.txt: [1.890131] EXT3-fs: INFO: recovery required on readonly filesystem. [3.820009] EXT3-fs: mounted filesystem with ordered data mode. Is it possible that you had a hard system crash that may have corrupted sda5? According to the attached Df.txt, that is your root drive and has all of the binaries on the system. Given that you had a very abnormal error from perl, I'd suspect that there may be an issue with your disk being corrupted. Make sure you backup your data immediately! And then try ' sudo apt-get -f install' to re-attempt the configuration of the system that caused the error. If it succeeds, then this may be a false alarm, though I would still be suspicious of system integrity. If you see the error again, then I would recommend reinstalling the system without deleting or formatting the filesystems (after backing everything up!). Marking Incomplete pending information from Randall. Marking High as this would be a very serious problem if it turns out to be an issue with perl. ** Changed in: openssh (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete ** Changed in: openssh (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => High -- package openssh-server (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-installation script killed by signal (Aborted) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/618775 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 598780] Re: Gtk-WARNING **: Failed to load type module: (null)
Confirmed since I'm also seeing this (in my case on firefox 3.6.8+build1+nobinonly-0ubuntu2 - and a lot of other programmes). Note I do not have appmenu-gtk installed - it was installed but I apt-get removed it. Ah - I think I might see what's happening here. 1) Installing appmenu-gtk adds /etc/X11/Xsession.d/80appmenu 2) This sets the environment variable UBUNTU_MENUPROXY to libappmenu.so 3) If you remove appmenu-gtk the variable is still set - and you get these errors 4) apt-get remove on appmenu-gtk leaves behind the /etc/X11/Xsession.d/80appmenu causing these errors to persist. [Bug 618979] [NEW] Python imports being mixed with actual definition
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: exuberant-ctags The behavior of exuberant-ctags has recently changed so that, when indexing Python code, imports will be mixed up with definitions. In practice, it means that when one searches for ClassName, everything which lists ClassName in an import statement will be included in the result next to the definition itself, which is pretty bad. To workaround the problem, include this in your ~/.ctags file: --python-kinds=-i Colin found the actual commit and upstream bug related to the problem: Probably this commit (from the bzr import): revno: 693 committer: elias timestamp: Sun 2009-07-05 15:38:06 + message: Synchronized the python parser with the geany tagmanager, including the following geany commits: r3788: nestlevel.c and some other stuff r3804: Parse Python import statements to get symbol completion for the imported module names. r3809: Parse Python calltips. r3831: Fix grouping functions/classes under a nested function. Many thanks to the geany devs!
