[Bug 371444] Re: [Feature Request] Add Wireless configuration screen to oem-config if wireless is available

2010-07-17 Thread nUboon2Age
** Description changed:

This is a requests to add a wireless network selection screen to oem-
  config if wireless is avaliable.

This would set the wireless settings for the newly created user that is
- created during the use of oem-config. f no wireless is available then
+ created during the use of oem-config. If no wireless is available then
don't show the wireless selection screen. Also feature a skip button if
users do not want to setup wireless.

It has been reported that many users have a hard time figuring out how
to connect to their home wireless network. By having a screen in oem-
config it would greatly help with usablity. This is a feature that is in
newer versions of competing operation systems during the initial setup
  by users.

[Bug 578506] Re: [Kernel] ACPI: EC: input buffer is not empty, aborting transaction

2010-07-17 Thread Vinicius Frömming
Must be the worst ubuntu bug i ever experienced. When it first occurred, i
thought it was some kind of hardware failure, so i tried another kernel (rt)
and it went fine until i replaced it with the main kernel again, and it *does*
break everything exactly like described on the first bug report.
Btw, why is this HUGE bug marked as "incomplete"?

I think the problem was with libusb. Looking at the synaptic history

and it had another update today. Since today's update I'm able to

As far as I am concerned, the bug can be marked solved.

[Bug 606587] [NEW] Rhythmbox missing core feature: Drag and Drop for playlists ( .pls / .m3u ) from File and Folder Manager(s)

2010-07-17 Thread HX_unbanned
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

This feature would be VERY handy and useful because currently only
option to create / import playlsit is from Rhythmbox GUI.

It would be great to have such feature directly by dragg9ing and
dropping playlist file to Playlists section in Rhythmbox GUI.

In my humble option this feature is very easy to implement.

[Bug 561802] Re: [lucid] [i915] blank screen on Latitude E6410

2010-07-17 Thread RProgrammer
Another temporary workaround is simply to fall back to the VESA driver
which works with every video card, but disables acceleration.

i. If you cannot install Ubuntu, use the alternate install cd

ii.a. If you cannot boot into the installed Ubuntu system without
getting a blank screen, use the recovery mode (which is chosen in grub
after holding down the shift key during boot) but edit ('e') the kernel
parameters, adding i915.blacklist=true to the end. Then boot (Ctrl-X)

ii.b. Another way to get it to boot is to use a live cd, like RescueCD
(http://www.sysresccd.org/Main_Page), mount the hard drive and edit
boot/grub/grub.cfg manually

1. Edit the file /etc/default/grub to read
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="i915.blacklist=true"

2. Run update-grub

[Bug 606589] [NEW] relative mouse movement in games - cursor/view jumps to same position approximately every second

2010-07-17 Thread Forrest
Public bug reported:

Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description:Ubuntu maverick (development branch)
Release:10.10
Codename: maverick

After an update on 2010-07-14, relative mouse movement in two SDL-based
games broke. Also, a clean install on a separate computer has the same
problem.

Slightly more often than every second, the view angles in an FPS
interface/the cursor jumps back to the same spot while using relative
mouse movement.

This is not a bug in libsdl1.2 because with it downgraded the problem
still exists.

Any ideas as to the cause? Might it be related to the fact that as of

starts to flicker in the login screen, or xorg does not start up
correctly.

[Bug 606595] [NEW] Unity crashes on startup with rs690m

2010-07-17 Thread a...@adamhooper.com
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: unity

On my Gateway LT31u (Radeon X1250, a.k.a. rs690m), unity crashes on
startup. I installed amd64 Ubuntu Desktop Maverick Alpha 2 and then the
"ubuntu-netbook" package. Everything is dist-upgraded.

When I try to log in, the top-left quarter of the screen gets a white
box which disappears soon after; then the background, top panel and left
panel appear. (The clock and indicator applets are present.) After about
half a second, the panels disappear and the whole thing repeats.

The crash occurs in the "mutter" process. I get different crashes
depending on whether KMS is enabled. (I usually disable KMS because
otherwise compiz's wobbly windows cause a crash and
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=27529 causes me grief; but
those are bugs for another day.)

Perhaps related to Bug #596292

I've tried putting "AccelMethod" "XAA" and "AccelDFS" "off" into my
xorg.conf; they don't change anything. I've also tried "DRI" "off", but
that just prevents mutter from running entirely.

Attached: three full backtraces, lspci info.

uninitialized, and they'll be never recovered after resume.

This patch adds the proper recovery of cleared pin controls on resume.
Also it adds a check of bus->shutdown so that pins won't be cleared at
module unloading.

[Bug 606599] [NEW] BenQ nScreen i221

2010-07-17 Thread DDarko
Public bug reported:

I installed Ubuntu 10.04 on BenQ nScreen i221, and most work well,
however, when turn the volume control located in the lower right corner
of the monitor is to suspend almost all of the panels. can't expand any
menu and can't enter any data. blinking cursor and the mouse works, but
writing is impossible.

Pressing CTRL + ALT + F1 and then CTRL + ALT + F7 helps, but I don't
want to do this every time.

As all of you, I don't know why, but Radeon + KMS + Compiz doesn't work: it's
too slow!
I use an ATI X1600.
Even if I use Radeon driver and KMS is enable, Compiz doesn't work.
Hope it will be fixed soon, i'm very curious to know the benefit of KMS .

[Bug 606602] [NEW] openoffice writer crashes compiz

2010-07-17 Thread Holstener Liesel
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openoffice.org-writer

Ubuntu 10.04
openoffice.org-writer 1:3.2.0-7ubuntu4.1

Writer should display the content of a footnote when the mouse is
hovering over its superscripted number in the main text. When doing so,
it does however not break lines. Once a footnote gets very long (around
140 words) compiz crashes whenever I move the mouse over its
superscripted number.

Steps to reproduce: Have compiz running. Create a very long footnote
that won't fit on the screen in one line. Move mouse over its
superscripted number.

I will gladly be providing further needed information or log files.

Re: [Bug 587272] Re: gajim doesn't have indicator support

2010-07-17 Thread Jonathan Michalon
Me giving up means that I'm now facing too much difficulties to make this
proper for Ubuntu official release, starting with the fact that I'm no
Indicator user/fan and that I'm really lacking time.
But the preliminaries (working indicator) are available on my _personnal_ PPA,
based on the patch provided here.
So, I don't think this would be in the next release(s) (unless someone more
capable and motivated stands up quickly), but it is on my PPA, which you could
use easly.
Perhaps things would change when a new release of gajim happen and get
packaged...
You say you couldn't replace me, but what you could try is find someone that
could ;-) this is the key of all that stuff since the patch looks (AFAICT) nice.

[Bug 220696] Re: Connection to SSH via file browser disconnects

2010-07-17 Thread donquixote
Lucid.

For me it doesn't crash, it just freezes.
1. Open nautilus ssh, click some remote files to open in gedit.
2. Hibernate, wake up.
3. Try to edit one of the remote files opened in gedit.
-> gedit freeze.

Solution (for now):
4. In Nautilus, unmount the ssh connection. (and copy the location before doing
it!)
-> gedit becomes responsive again.

Now you can choose one of two solutions:

5a. edit and save a file in gedit (just add a space and delete it again)
-> gedit will ask for a password, and reconnect. I can continue my work, yeah.

5b. Ctrl-l in Nautilus, paste the ssh location from clipboard, go.
-> Nautilus will ask for a password, and reconnect. I can continue my work,
yeah.

--

This is still better than what I remember from Windows (with WinSCP and putty),
but still far from ideal.

[Bug 606607] [NEW] smplayer outdated

2010-07-17 Thread Ákos Maróy
Public bug reported:

I installed mplayer and smplayer as a GUI frontend to mplayer, but when
I start smplayer, it reports that it is obsolete, and the mplayer that
is installed with it 'too new'.

smplayer reports 0.6.8, while mplayer reports MPlayer
SVN-r1.0~rc3+svn20090426-4.4.3

my expectation would be that these packages would be in sync...

[Bug 606608] [NEW] Screen goes to powersave during boot with ATI HD5670

2010-07-17 Thread K Dietrich
Public bug reported:

After installing Ubuntu 10.4 (AMD 64)
(with alternate installer to avoid https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/560306)

I installed all the updates after booting with recovery option. Screen
goes tho powersave after reboot.

Then I installted fglrx and did aticonfig --initial -f

Afterwards the system still goes to powersave during boot.

My previous Install worked till upgrade to vmlinuz-2.6.32-23-generic when I
experienced similar problems.
For ech restart the system writes 6 different Xorg logfiles (Xorg0-5.log and
Xorg.failsave.log)

I have two graphics adapter attached: Internal ATI HD 3200 (which can't
be disabled) and ATI HD 5670)

Attached are
Xorg0.log ... Xorg5.log
Xorg.failsave.log
xorg.conf
