[Bug 594258] Re: When clicking on links that open new windows, I experience periodic crashes.

2010-06-15 Thread drew212
Could you please generate an apport crash report for this? A crash report is
key for resolving your problem.
You can enable apport for one instance like this in the terminal:
sudo service apport start force_start=1

I am marking this invalid as apport will open a new bug when the crash
is generated. Please include any relevant information from this report
in the new bug report. If you cannot generate a crash report, you can
reset the status of this one to new and we will try something else.

** Changed in: firefox (Ubuntu)

That would indeed work for some use cases, but unfortunately fixed IP
addresses would be required, which isn't always an option.

I was thinking something like /etc/exports, with one entry per line,
which would make it easier for postinst/postrm scripts to handle. In
essence the two methods are the same except that the whole "section" is
in one line, and the full path is used as the "section name" - I can't
see any differences security-wise. But sure, the configuration file
format (or config.d directory if implemented) is not an issue at all.

Thank you very much,
Alkis

[Bug 161818] Re: firefox flash-plugin automatic installation fails on youtube

2010-06-15 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
** Description changed:

  Problem occurs with:
  * Ubuntu 8.04 LTS
  * Ubuntu 9.04
  * Ubuntu Karmic, all updates installed

  1. From a fresh Ubuntu installation, go to .
  2. Go to any of the videos.

What happens: "Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version
of Adobe's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player."
What should happen: Firefox's plug-in finder bar appears.

Sites like YouTube query firefox about the availability of the flash
plugin, and if not found, display fallback text (usually including a
link to Adobe's download page) instead of triggering the browser's
native behavior for uninstalled plug-ins. This is usually
implemented using the Adobe Flash Player Detection Kit
   and,
  more recently, SWFObject .
SWFObject will be included in upcoming versions of Adobe Flash Catalyst
- and Adobe Flash Builder. and as of 1 October 2009, it was used by around
- 13% of Web site front pages sampled by Builtwith.
+ and Adobe Flash Builder, and since May 2009 it has consistently been
+ used by about 13% of the top 10 000 Web site front pages sampled by
+ Builtwith.

Ubuntu's plug-in finder bar works only for elements, and
therefore it is working for fewer and fewer Flash sites over time.

A simple solution might be to hack firefox to always provide the
information that the flash capability is present, even when the flash
plugin is not yet installed. Therefore, the site would provide the flash
object, and the automatic flash plugin installation would kick in.

[Bug 594468] [NEW] package oss4-dkms 4.2-build2002-2 failed to install/upgrade: oss4 kernel module failed to build

2010-06-15 Thread Jim Kinder
Public bug reported:

I reported a problem with oss4 an hour or so ago.
Now, the "same" problem (oss4 failing to build), seems to be locking me out of
installing any other packages.
Maybe it is only packages that need a sound card?
But I really need to play midi files.
Right now, I can't play anything. No sound.
Is it a sound card recognition problem, not a prob with oss4?
Please help.

I had the same problem as described by the majority -- unable to add my

setup -- less and except the fact that I had no debug messages displayed
when said issue appeared. This is most definitely not an user interface
issue as per original comment #26 states.

Thanks to comment #77 by Yuioup on 2010-06/09 has saved me!
Instantaneously started working 100% as expected upon executing those
two commands within a terminal. I would personally advise trying this
potential fix before enduring the mundane chore of compiling & patching
from the source repositories and see if this works for you as well.

[Bug 594470] [NEW] Mozilla Firefox crashes, ubuntu session terminated, re-logon necessary

2010-06-15 Thread Johannes Koukouliatas
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox

I'm using
- Mozilla Firefox 3.6.3
- Ubuntu 10.04

The error appeared after upgrading to ubuntu 10.04.

Reproduced following error couple of times, but not the only way to
trigger it.

1) opening www.map24.de (German route finder page)
2) filling in start and destination points, clicking on next ("weiter")
3) after couple of seconds, black screen appears filled with following text
line: "wlan10 error fetching interface information: device not found"
4) the screen / lines appears for about 2-3 seconds
5) Ubuntu presents after some HD activity the usual login window, I can login
normally despite all previously active programs aborted

I use a T42 IBM Laptop without integrated WLAN device. I occasionally
use a USB WLAN device which is working pretty well without any crashes.
With same devices and Ubuntu 9.x I had no issues.

I first suspected JAVA and deactivated JAVA script in Mozilla, but error
appears again, just using the search bar (top right corner) to find
something in google.

[Bug 594469] [NEW] [needs-packaging] Memcached::libmemcached

2010-06-15 Thread Clint Byrum
Public bug reported:

Memcached::libmemcached is a perl wrapper around the C library
libmemcached. It can be used in place of a pure-perl library for greater
performance and features not found in the perl library. Many user
applications use Cache::Memcached which has a libmemcached adapter
called Cache::Memcached::libmemcached.

It is part of this spec:

[Bug 247571] Re: Text boxes with active autocomplete drop down swallows multimedia keyboard controls

2010-06-15 Thread Rune Juhl Jacobsen
I'm pretty sure that this isn't a problem with Firefox, but a problem
with Gnome instead, as multimedia key presses are also swallowed
whenever you have an open menu, no matter if it is inside an application
(File, Edit, View menus and so on), or the start menu or a right click
menu.

Reproducibility: always
Steps to reproduce:
1. Start a media player.
2. Play a track.
3. Open a menu of any sort.
4. Try any media control button, such as pause or volume up/down.
Expected: The track pauses/changes volume.
Actual: Nothing, the button has no effect.

I'd be tempted to say that this bug is yet another duplicate of bug report
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gtk+2.0/+bug/10905 .
A lot of duplicates have been reported, ie.
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gtk+2.0/+bug/243584 which has a
description that matches this one a bit better.

Does anyone have any insight on this?

Keep in mind that f-spot documentation is not translated at all
upstream, so this rather then being a bug is a wishlist.

I'm marking it as invalid since there is no translation at all upstream.

[Bug 530394] Re: gwibber claims my Facebook password is incorrect but the same password works on Facebook itself

2010-06-15 Thread Austin Vaughan
There are two problems here I have been having using gwibber 2.30.0.1 on
Ubuntu 10.04. Both of them have been experienced by other people,.

1. Since Saturday I have not been able to post anything. It worked fine on
Saturday, now it doesn't. You click send, and nothing happens.
2. After deleting my facebook account from gwibber in an attempt to set it up
again, gwibber would not let me add a facebook account to my list. After
entering my username and password, the Add button was simply not there.
3. After reinstalling gwibber and deleting the config files, I could add
facebook again, but I still could not post anything and the feed was bearing no
relationship to current events. This time, after clicking send, I get the
message telling me there was an authentication error.
Deleted the account from gwibber again, and now I'm back to the situation
where there is no Add button.

Can anyone help with this, or is this bug considered closed? If it is
solved, could someone please help me reproduce the solution? It doesn't
help if someone just says "well it now works for me, therefore problem
solved."

It is interesting.

I also enclosed the with packages of fonts installed on my system.
And this is the output of pdffonts but I still don't know how to come

[Bug 548891] Re: keyboard input broken due to invalid keyboard variant set by VMWare installer

2010-06-15 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package xorg-server - 2:1.7.6-2ubuntu7.1

---
xorg-server (2:1.7.6-2ubuntu7.1) lucid-proposed; urgency=low

  [Bryce Harrington]
  * Add 123_exa_sys_ptr_nullpointer_check.patch: Patch from upstream to
verify a pointer is not NULL before dereferencing it. Fixes X
segfault in miCopyRegion which occurs while using firefox (e.g. typing
into fields in AOL). Issue found by Jerry Lamos.
(LP: #539772)
  * Add 19-exa-handle-pixmap-create-destroy-in-lower-layers.diff: Patch
from Debian to fix X segfault on mouse click in xfig, when pixmaps
are created in the course of software fallbacks.
(LP: #553647)
  * debian/rules: Don't reference the package uploader for support; instead
point
users to the standard Ubuntu support page.
(LP: #589811)

  [Martin Pitt]
  * debian/local/64-xorg-xkb.rules: Ignore XKBMODEL=="SKIP" and
XKBVARIANT=="U.S. English", which happen to get into
/etc/default/console-setup in some cases like the VMWare automatic
installer.
(LP: #548891)

[ Christopher James Halse Rogers ]
  * Update 122_xext_fix_card32_overflow_in_xauth.patch to most recent version
on patchwork tracker. This one actually fixes the crash with xauth
generate (LP: #519049)
