[Bug 532405] Re: netbook-launcher should depend on mesa-utils

2010-03-05 Thread Didier Roche
I've added a check in main.c to switch between the 2D and 3D launcher in
main.c, I didn't noticed the old one. This is based on the "Software
Rasterizer". I guess we can drop the other test in nl_config.c. Also, I
don't call glxinfo but directly implement the needed code from X to get
it (for effenciency).

[Bug 462530] Re: ICQ doesn't work in Empathy

2010-03-05 Thread Brett Randall
@Omer - thanks, did that and it looks like a good outcome, Empathy can
now connect to AIM and ICQ.

FYI during the partial dist upgrade I had failures on python-2.4 and
python-2.5 but seems not to have mattered.

[Bug 532465] [NEW] gnome-terminal causes Xorg to close on livecd

Public bug reported:

[Bug 532464] Re: WARNING: at /build/buildd/linux-2.6.32/kernel/power/suspend_test.c:53 suspend_test_finish+0x88/0x90()

2010-03-05 Thread Jeremy Foshee
Hi Laurent,

The warning reported here typically indicates that it took longer for
your system to resume from suspend than expected. I believe there is a
5 sec barrier which your system likely exceeded. Based on your dmesg
output I see PM: resume devices took 11.900 seconds. I'm setting this
to traiged for further investigation. Thanks!

[This is an automated message. Apologies if it has reached you

[Bug 532286] Re: Samba: remote Win XP and Mac OS X machines can no longer mount shares

2010-03-05 Thread Thierry Carrez
Looks like a networking issue more than a samba issue... as samba is
probably not involved in deciding to ACK a specific SYN packet or not.
One difference between your Windows XP and your Linux hosts is the IP
address (192.168.1.64 in one case, 128.83.133.100 in the other): are
both of those networks routable from 216.110.51.120 ? If yes, could you
place a Linux system in that 192.168.1.0/24 network and reproduce the
trace ?

AFAICT it looks like the Lucid server TCP queue considers the
192.168.1.64 packet a martian and just discards it. Anything in your
kernel logs ? Do other TCP-based services on that Lucid host succeed in
talking with the Windows XP host ?

[Bug 513152] Re: Keyboard layout panel indicator ignores theme font color settings

Hi,

I've made a clean install of latest Lucid netboot to make sure the issue
is present by default and none of my personal settings affect it anyhow.
Just check out the attached screenshot to decide if this bug is really
of only a low priority to you.

Desktop keyboard layout indicator is just plain unreadable on the new
default theme.

I confirm this bug with my mother too.

Absolutely same symptoms: shutting down ubuntu on a stage of updating
packages left the system with 'wont boot' state the next morning, which
was VERY surprising to me since I already got used to stability in
ubuntu updates. The update was interrupted via shutdown from GNOME user
menu.

@NoOp: I thought anyone was able to edit the status of a bug, since I'm
just a user myself. I can set it to 'Incomplete' or 'In progress', I
guess.

For solving your issue, I think you'd be better served by posting it to
the alsa-devel mailing list with an alsa-info attached that was
generated under 2.6.31-19 with the PPA drivers. (The ALSA developers
don't tend to look at their own bugtracker, much less Launchpad, but
they're responsive to reports they receive on the list.) The URL is

[Bug 532470] [NEW] ServerSideIncludes - Documentation

2010-03-05 Thread Peter Lamb
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubuntu-docs

Hi

The following page has an omission -
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ServerSideIncludes

The line needs to include an alternative instruction based on my testing
on Mythbuntu 9.10 (AMD64)

  gksudo gedit /etc/apache2/sites-available/default

but to get SSI working I had to edit a different file

  gksudo gedit /etc/apache2/sites-available/default-mythbuntu

Perhaps the alternate line could be included eg

  gksudo gedit /etc/apache2/sites-available/default

or for some Muthbuntu versions

  gksudo gedit /etc/apache2/sites-available/default-mythbuntu

Thanks

[Bug 531536] Re: euca-get-console-output repeats output on subsequent runs

2010-03-05 Thread Thierry Carrez
I say Medium, you say Critical, let's say it's High. It's not a
regression, it does not kill any kitten, it does affect quite badly a
secondary feature (the console output) but doesn't make it completely
unusable...

@Dustin: you marked it as affecting euca2ools, does that mean you
determined part of the bug lies in euca2ools ? Could you make sure
Eucalyptus is aware of that bug, since we didn't mention it in
yesterdays call ?

** Changed in: eucalyptus (Ubuntu Lucid)
   Importance: Critical => High

[Bug 510004] Re: [lucid regression] random graphics effects after resume from suspend to RAM

2010-03-05 Thread Per Ångström
I have downgraded to nvidia 173.14.22 and that gets rid of the corrupted
graphics. I still have to switch between virtual consoles until I can
eventually activate the display.

[Bug 354220] Re: asyncq.c: q overrun, queuing locally

2010-03-05 Thread FiX
I did not test with the latest alpha, because that would require
upgrading my personal productivity system to a non release version. That
being said, I no longer see these error messages. They likely were fixed
by some update. Here are my new versions:

virtualbox-3.13.1.4-57640_Ubuntu_karmic (upgraded since
pb)
pulseaudio1:0.9.19-0ubuntu4.1 (not upgraded since
pb)
linux-image-2.6.31-19-generic 2.6.31-19.56 (upgraded since pb)

Pb automagically disappeared. Either fixed in kernel/vbox or worked-
around by vbox team. You can close the defect as far as I am concerned.

[Bug 288807] Re: [i815] Wrong resolution on Vaio PCG-SRX51, PCG-SRX41 and PCG-FX370 due to incorrect h/v rates

2010-03-05 Thread TJ
With Lucid Alpha 3 things have got worse. Xorg crashes each time the
LiveCD "ubuntu" user tries to log-in, resulting in the user returning to
the standard GDM log-in screen. Manual attempts to log-in result in the
same Xorg crash and restart of GDM. There appear to be a lot of similar
reports for installed alpha-3 too (#532183, #532173, #532047 ...).

Additionally, the tty consoles become invisible when doing a
Ctrl+Alt+F1-F6 switch. The user can type blindly but sees nothing.

Using this 'facility' I was able to do "sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-
get install openssh-server" and subsequently connect to the SRX51 from
another PC using SSH (after a blind "sudo passwd ubuntu"). I pulled the
contents of /var/log/ as a tgz archive and the ubuntu ".xsession-errors"
log. The Xorg logs show input device errors but nothing definite on the
reason for the crash, e.g:

(EE) PreInit returned NULL for ""Macintosh mouse button emulation""

>From an apport.log entry it looks to be gnome-panel failing:

apport (pid 3302) Fri Mar 5 08:02:22 2010: wrote report /var/crash
/_usr_bin_gnome-panel.999.crash

Until these issues are resolved it isn't possible to diagnose this
screen resolution problem.

[Bug 531997] Re: netbook-launcher desktop menu and icons don't always work

2010-03-05 Thread fyo
I tried Lucid Alpha3 and the netbook-launcher issue is fixed. The
release is completely unusable, however, as EVERYTHING except netbook-
launcher flashes white several times a second (weird random-seeming
blinking). The netbook-launcher displays perfectly, no dead areas,
nothing.

The flashing is a different bug, for a different report (but what to
file it against? there doesn't appear to be a bug filed already).

Would you happen to know if the original bug is indeed with the
launcher? Or is it xorg? Since Lucid is unusable, I'd like to try just
updating the one package that's causing the dead area problem.

The bios files are missing from the package, instead there is still a
link pointing nowhere:

lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 22 2010-03-05 08:26 vgabios.bin
-> ../vgabios/vgabios.bin
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 29 2010-03-05 08:26 vgabios-cirrus.bin
-> ../vgabios/vgabios.cirrus.bin

When the two links are removed from debian/links the new BIOS are placed
in /usr/share/qemu. Attached is a debdiff for the change.

[Bug 532320] Re: falha na busca

2010-03-05 Thread Kees Cook
Thank you for using Ubuntu and taking the time to report a bug. Your
report should contain, at a minimum, the following information so we can
better find the source of the bug and work to resolve it.

Submitting the bug about the proper source package is essential. For
help see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . Additionally,
in the report please include:

1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'cat /etc/lsb-release' or System ->
About Ubuntu.
2) The version of the package you are using, via 'dpkg -l PKGNAME | cat' or by
checking in Synaptic.
3) What happened and what you expected to happen.

The Ubuntu community has also created debugging procedures for a wide
variety of packages at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures .
Following the debugging instructions for the affected package will make
your bug report much more complete. Thanks!

[Bug 532482] [NEW] non-ascii escape commands don't seem to wor

[Bug 318286] Re: Network manager forgets WPA Personal hidden network

2010-03-05 Thread LanoxxthShaddow
I have a similar problem which is that network manager tends to forget the
wireless password sometimes. Here is what happens:
1. I am connected
2. I suddenly loose connection
3. When I try to reconnect network manager does not react to my click on the
network name, that is, it does not even try to connect it simply shows no
reaction and no cycling green or grey bubbles.
4. When I go to edit connection and click on wireless my wireless ap is unter
last used: "Never" even though I was just connected.
5. I have to click edit, enter the system password (or is it for the
keyring?!?) and then go to security and reenter the password, i notice that the
password field is empty when the dialoge opens.
6. Sometimes I have to repeat steps 3-5 (suspending/resuming helps sometimes if
it wasnt successful after several tries through 3-5)
7. I can connect now.

This happens serveral times a week. Analogous to being connected and
loosing the connection I sometimes also resume from standby to find that
i can not connect, here also steps 3-5 are the same.

While the above steps show a workaround this is quite annoying as
everyone can see, especially if you quickly need connectivity.
