[Bug 411691] Re: many Exception... "update.locale file doesn't exist" in console

2009-08-15 Thread Marlin Forbes
The linked thread from the Debian bug report says to simply touch the
missing file:

http://groups.google.com/group/mozilla.feedback.firefox/browse_thread/thread/cc67945318eafad3/2c3b310cf1cb3f97?lnk=raot

I assume that Thunderbird is using the same Gecko/Mozilla rendering
code, hence the same error in different packages.

[Bug 360740] Re: Mute button not turning red

2009-08-15 Thread David Monniaux
Similar problem with HP Pavilion tx1219. The "mute" light stays orange
(muted) regardless of whether the sound is truly muted. The "mute" key
does work when pressed.

The problem is only that the current state of muting/unmuting does not
get propagated to the leds. I'm unsure to what these leds are connected.

LC_IDENTIFICATION="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_ALL=

So it seems that regional settings in "Country or region" are not
recognised by system.

I tried to edit /etc/default/locale file where I entered following lines
(in order to get Slovak settings):

LANG="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_CTYPE="sk_SK.UTF-8"
LC_NUMERIC="sk_SK.UTF-8"
LC_TIME="sk_SK.UTF-8"
LC_COLLATE="sk_SK.UTF-8"
LC_MONETARY="sk_SK.UTF-8"
LC_PAPER="sk_SK.UTF-8"
LC_NAME="sk_SK.UTF-8"
LC_ADDRESS="sk_SK.UTF-8"
LC_TELEPHONE="sk_SK.UTF-8"
LC_MEASUREMENT="sk_SK.UTF-8"
LC_IDENTIFICATION="sk_SK.UTF-8"

and the result was that OpenOffice.org Spreadsheet recognised coma as
decimal separator (",") and also it typed coma when I pressed decimal
separator on keyboard's numpad. But SpeedCrunch did not recognised coma
as decimal separator (I had to use dot ".") and also when I pressed
decimal separator on keyboard's numpad, the dot showed in SpeedCrunch.

[Bug 413947] [NEW] dolphin cannot mount ntfs disk

2009-08-15 Thread Ulaş Şahin
Public bug reported:

ntfs disk is visible on the places list...
When clicked dolphin displays this message:

org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.Volume.InvalidMountOption : The option
'locale=en_US.UTF-8' is not allowed for uid=1000

so mount is unsuccessfull.

installing ntfs-config and selecting this disk and labeling a mount point
allows the disk to be correctly mounted.
The interesting detail is that after pressing Ok on ntfs-config the disk icon
on dolphin adds a mini sign with a usb port..

[Bug 413949] [NEW] ubuntu karmic alpha 4 - possible partition editor bug

2009-08-15 Thread Piscium
Public bug reported:

I downloaded the alpha 4 CD image, checked MD5, burned a CD, and run it.

I did not go far. After choosing language, location, keyboard, it says
it is starting the partition manager, and that is it. Nothing happens
after, so I had to press the power button to switch the PC off.

Nothing much special with my PC. It is a 4.5 year old Dell Dimension. It
has two hard disks, the master with two partitions, Dell Utility, and
Windows XP. The second disk however, has 12 partitions with a number of
empty spaces in between. Some partitions have Ubuntu or Kubuntu (ext4),
others are empty, one is for Windows swapping. Also the partition
numbers are not in order, for example, after sdb10 comes sdb5. My guess
is that the partition editor got confused and lost!

Today I installed jaunty for a different test and all went well. So this
is a karmic bug.

[Bug 413948] [NEW] Evince can no longer read comicbook archives

2009-08-15 Thread Taylor "Ripps" L-Wren
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

Today, I suddenly can't read any of my comicbook archives anymore. I have tried
several .cbz and .cbr archives, but I get a Permission Denied warning on
everyone. I've checked the file permissions and there's no reason why they
can't be opened.
In order to double check, I installed qcomicbook and it was able to read them

Hi Andres,

Thank you very much for reacting to my message.

I tried to run the command 'alsa-collect -p alsa-base 412723' in the terminal
display, but it says that the command wasn't found. I tried it several times
but the system's answer is always the same. I had to type the command because
copy and paste from your message to the terminal display didn´t work. Can you
see whether I made a mistake in the command or there is no solution to this
matter in this stage?
Thanks a lot!

[Bug 413954] [NEW] gnome-power-manager displays some values at 1/10 of the correct amount

2009-08-15 Thread Andrew Aylett
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

Gnome-power-manager reports some battery statistics at 1/10 of their
true value, while others are correct. For example, the battery current
charge, last full charge and design charge are given at 2.4Wh, 2.4Wh and
2.6Wh when the battery was actually built as 26Wh. Similarly, the
discharge rate is given as ~1.1W, while it should be 11W. The charge
rate, however, is given at 65.5W, which is correct. This also leads to
wildly incorrect remaining charge times, with around 1m20s quoted for a
50% charge, which is roughly 40x out.

[Bug 413953] [NEW] USB modem disconnect on Jaunty (uhci_hcd: host system error, PCI problems?)

2009-08-15 Thread Eric Hammond
Public bug reported:

I've been using a Verizon USB727 (USB modem) with Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty and
it works beautifully most of the time.

However, after a number of hours (or sometimes minutes) of usage, it
suddenly disconnects from the network. The full errors from syslog are
available on:

  http://paste.ubuntu.com/253430/

but they start with:

  kernel: [150839.260420] uhci_hcd :00:1d.1: host system error, PCI
problems?
  kernel: [150839.260431] uhci_hcd :00:1d.1: host controller halted, very
bad!

I can unplug the USB modem from that USB port and plug it into the USB
port on the other side of the laptop. It connects and everything works
well for another while. When the error happens again, I am unable get
it working again without rebooting the laptop.

I'm running 2.6.28-14-server #47-Ubuntu SMP on a Dell Latitude E6500.

The lsusb -v output is available here:

  http://paste.ubuntu.com/253450/

Let me know if any other information would be helpful in diagnosing the
problem.

gnutls26 (2.7.14-1) experimental; urgency=low

  * [debian/control] set section setting of source package to libs instead of
devel.
  * New upstream version.
+ Drop debian/patches/16_symbolversioning_fix.diff, included upstream.
+ Bump shlibs, new symbols added.

gnutls26 (2.7.12-1) experimental; urgency=low

  * Fix typo in changelog. Closes: #526427
  * New upstream release.
+ Does not ship the scripts libgnutls-extra-config and libgnutls-config
  and the .m4 snippet to use it anymore. Please switch to pkg-config or
  standard autoconf test. Drop manpages and
  both patches/13_lessdeps_gnutls-config.diff and
  patches/13_lessdeps_gnutls-config.diff from the debian diff.
+ Update remaining patches.
+ Bump shlibs, new symbols added.
  * [patches/16_symbolversioning_fix.diff] Since gnutls_x509_crq_set_key was
already present in 2.6.x it needs to be versioned GNUTLS_1_4 instead of
GNUTLS_2_8.
  * New upstream uses separate ./configure scripts for the different
libraries. Invoke the main ./configure script with
--cache-file=$(CURDIR)/config.cache to speed things up.

[Bug 283058] Re: [RS482] does not work properly in 3D. Software fallback:ctx->RenderMode != GL_RENDER

2009-08-15 Thread guille
The bug was fixed for me. The warning message still appears in blender
when an object is selected for the first time:

*WARN_ONCE*
File r300_render.c function r300Fallback line 374
Software fallback:ctx->RenderMode != GL_RENDER
***

but now objects can be selected so blender is usable. I don't know how to
get/use `ubuntu-bug xorg`.

[Bug 413967] [NEW] Network manager doe not connect wlan0 on startup

2009-08-15 Thread Mathieu
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager

each time the computer starts the first time, the network manager fails
to connect to my wireless network (WPA protected). The nm-applet shows
its moving icon but can't connect and after some time, it just tell me
not connected. The scanning of several wirelsee network in my
neigborhood is also not fully displayed.

The notebook is an eeepc asus 1008HA with atheros wireless card (using
ath9k driver)

A workarround is unfortunately to kill the network manager (sudo killall
NetworkManager) and then restart it again (sudo NetworkManager). Mostly
I need to repeat that 3-4 times before connecting to my router.

[Bug 413969] [NEW] f-spot scambles image display of images from Fujifilm FinePix J12 when in edit mode

2009-08-15 Thread keithpeter
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: f-spot

Using Karmic Koala updated to Saturday 15th at 0800 UT.

I use a Fujifilm FinePix J12 snapshot camera, and I import the images
using the card reader on my computer. When clicking 'edit' on an image
imported from this camera, f-spot displays the image broken into three
rectangular sections, with the bottom two sections transposed. Does not
change image, does not alter export, image normal when editing in GIMP.
New behaviour since using Karmic, was fine in Jaunty with same camera,
cards &c. PC is Pundit AH2 with nvidia graphics, lspci below. Images not
imported from the SD card (e.g. images from Web) do not show this
problem in edit mode. I intend to borrow another card based camera to
reproduce.

[Bug 411350] Re: gnome-screensaver not functioning

2009-08-15 Thread Mike Butash
I filed a report about similar behavior a few days ago when upgrading
from ibex to jaunty and then to karmic, where my screensaver stopped
working correctly. Running gnome-screensaver in debug as you did, I see
no events at the one minute mark, which the timeout is set to. Using
gnome-screensaver-command -a as you did put my screensaver into proper
fade out as I'd expect at the timeout, without the error.

One thing I did notice is restarting gnome-screensaver in debug, while
waiting for the screensaver to kick in, all of a sudden I did get a DMPS
shutdown of the screen, which hadn't occurred at the timeout interval
either. I had upgraded yesterday to an updated build of gnome-power-
manager (2.27.5-0ubuntu2) supposedly resolving the timeout issue, but
did infact not. I did restart it, but not gnome-screensaver, so at
least DMPS seems to be behaving, still not gnome-screensaver.

I think the two are somehow related, but I'm not certain if gnome-
screensaver and gnome-power-manager use the same event engine
(hal,dbus?) to signal "idle" state, or from xorg itself that may be
broken. Seems gnome-screensaver just isn't figuring itself to ever go
idle, while they fixed whatever it was in GPM. Now that I just tested
the DMPS timeout again, I see it's not working again either.

FWIW, another system recently upgraded to Jaunty has variable issues
with gnome-screensaver not always turning on at the set timeout as
well, really almost random when it works or doesn't. Almost exactly the
same output as this one on karmic.

[Bug 410948] Re: Volume too loud

2009-08-15 Thread phenest
Karmic alpha 4
I'm finding the same as Taylor. I have a Dell Precision M90 laptop with an LFE
channel (sub-woofer). Watching alsamixer, I see that PCM goes up first,
followed by LFE, followed by Master. I won't allow anything else. Using the
volume hotkeys gives the same results. This means my sub-woofer is at full
volume before the main speakers start to do anything.

A fresh install of Karmic alpha 3 shows all the channels working
independently in alsamixer. So there has been an update since then that
has broken it.

[Bug 350826] Re: [jaunty] Rhythmbox no longer showing UPnP devices

2009-08-15 Thread ullix
this issue continues to exist in karmic alpha4. Furthermore, it appears
that the 'python-coherence' package for the framework is either missing
completely or is being renamed to 'coherence'. If so then neither
rhythmbox nor totem knows about this, as the 'DLNA/UPnP sharing and
control' plugin cannot be activated in neither of the two.

Using the tools from the gupnp-tools package I can see the various upnp
devices on my net.

[Bug 281335] Re: ZeroCD devices (on 3G modems) are not ejected automatically

2009-08-15 Thread Sergiu Bivol
Tested on Karmic - it doesn't work. Debug output:

r...@dell:/lib/udev# ./modem-modeswitch -v 0x19d2 -p 0x2000 -t option-zerocd -d
D: Found mass storage device:
D:   Endpoints: 2
D:   Class: 0x8
D:   SubClass:  0x6
D:   Protocol:  0x50
D: Found modem mass storage device '005'
D: 005: found already attached driver 'usb-storage'
D: 005: REZERO command sent.

It does something to the CD-ROM, causing it to disappear, but nothing
else. The modem itself does not switch. Replugging the modem and doing
'eject sr1' Just Works (tm).

I suppose it'd be easier to use the simple and tested 'eject' command
instead of debugging 'modem-modeswitch' and trying to figure out other
alternative ways of ejecting a CD :)

[Bug 413971] [NEW] Cursor jumps to top-left of screen using tilt wheel on mouse

2009-08-15 Thread phenest
Public bug reported:

Karmic alpha 4
Linux testing 2.6.31-5-generic #24-Ubuntu SMP Sat Aug 1 12:47:58 UTC 2009
x86_64 GNU/Linux

I have a bluetooth Kensington Si670m mouse with a tilt wheel. This works
perfectly in Jaunty, but has never worked in Karmic since alpha 1. The
horizontal scrolling does appear to work, but the cursor immediately
jumps to the top-left of the screen. I have seen, on rarer occasions,
this behaviour from just moving the cursor around. But it does do it
*every* time I use the tilt wheel.

[Bug 413558] Re: Please merge aoetools 30-1(universe) from debian unstable(main)

2009-08-15 Thread Stefan Lesicnik
Hey Bhavani,

I see in the diff we have the following

-- aoetools-30.orig/Makefile
+++ aoetools-30/Makefile
@@ -63,7 +63,7 @@
done

 clean :
-   rm -f ${CONF_SCRIPTS} ${AOE_PING_OBJ} ${AOE_CFG_OBJ} ${PROGS}
+   rm -f ${CONF_SCRIPTS} ${AOE_PING_OBJ} ${PROGS}

 aoeping : ${AOE_PING_OBJ}
${CC} ${CFLAGS} -o $@ ${AOE_PING_OBJ}

Although I cant find in the merge log why we do this? Best I could find where
it was added...

 * Makefile: Added AOE_CFG_OBJ to the clean target.

Any idea why we don't do this? If there is a good reason, we need to add
it to our changelog for carried changes. Else lets drop that change...

[Bug 412757] Re: imx51 squashfs as built on the armel livefs builder is broken and produces noisy kernel messages

2009-08-15 Thread Oliver Grawert
the build server side is being taken care of, i adjusted the description
to point out the relevance for the asignee.

while it is nice to have a warning from squashfs in dmesg, it would be
nice if it would not look like an oops with stacktrace, can the warning
message that is show be quietened down and not contain the backtrace by
default ?

[Bug 345975] Re: Unmute not working after reboot

2009-08-15 Thread Nyarlathotep
I can duplicate this bug on Jaunty installed on a Acer M1610 which has a
embedded SiS966 audio card with a Realtek ALC1200 chip.
I don't have this bug on my laptop IBM X41 with Jaunty installed on it.

happened.

The bugs are related, but I think the relationship may well be that
fixing bug 294523 is blocked on this bug, rather than that it's a
duplicate as such.

[Bug 412890] Re: Please merge pybliographer 1.2.12-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2009-08-15 Thread Stefan Lesicnik
Thanks for this work Nicolas. Would it be possible to send relevant
changes to Debian. I see there is a Debian bug open for the manpages
(http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=125637) - Looks like
the same manpages, but a diff would be easier to apply.

Also not necessary to mention Standards version change in the changelog
anymore, but else it looks great. Will upload.

Thanks for your contribution.
