Re: [Me-tv-development] [Bug 398948] Re: "Timeout while reading" while starting me-tv

2009-07-14 Thread Scott Evans

Hi... firstly you have provided the right information! its that Me TV
Development doesn't use the bug tracking feature openly, so the bug
report that you have filed, was against the version of Me TV in Ubuntu
(ver 0.7.16-1) but your are reporting against version 0.9.6-0 this is
current development (stable) and not yet included into any official
Ubuntu release. So that's the reasoning for the bug changes... ;)

[Bug 399155] [NEW] Non-Konqueror browser in KDE results in bouncing icons for both browsers

2009-07-14 Thread Mackenzie Morgan

kfmclient uses the Konqueror icon, so if you set Firefox as
default...or, well, Arora is Kubuntu's default now, when you click a

seconds it'll switch to a Konqueror icon leaving users like me wondering
which browser will open after all.

[Bug 399156] [NEW] [needs-packaging] Open-dent Open Source Practice Management

2009-07-14 Thread DajomU
Public bug reported:

Open-dent is a Open Source Practice Management program for dentists and is
licensed under the GNU General Public License (GPL) -
(http://open-dent.com/manual/openlicense.html).
"Why is it open source?
Because we want this software to become the world standard dental software. We
want to make it easy to access and share data. We are tired of the restrictive
policies of the current dental software companies. We want the user to always
have total control, not the software company. And most of all, we want software
that just works well."

Source Code can be found here: http://www.open-
dent.com/manual/downloads.html

Open-dent is written in C# and should work under mono and Linux.

[Bug 222180] Re: Rather useless Java menu entries

2009-07-14 Thread mac_v
Thank you for bringing this bug to our attention. Unfortunately a paper
cut should be a small usability issue that affects many people and is
quick and easy to fix. I'm afraid this bug can't be addressed as part of
this project.

OpenJDK is not part of the default install, And also, an average user
tends to use Sun-Java rather than OpenJdK. Hence not a papercut.

A paper cut is a minor usability annoyance that an average user would
encounter on his/her first day of using a new installation of Ubuntu
9.10.

For further info about papercuts criteria , pls read >
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PaperCut

Don't worry though, This bug has been marked as "invalid" ONLY in the
papercuts project.

[Bug 388932] Re: TSClient: Cap Lock does not work

2009-07-14 Thread mac_v
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 396831 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/396831

Thank you for bringing this bug to our attention. Unfortunately a paper
cut should be a small usability issue that affects many people and is
quick and easy to fix. I'm afraid this bug can't be addressed as part of
this project.

Replacing a package is not a papercut.

A paper cut is a minor usability annoyance that an average user would
encounter on his/her first day of using a new installation of Ubuntu
9.10.

For further info about papercuts criteria , pls read >
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PaperCut

Further, This is discussed in

[Bug 398302] Re: icedtea-gcjwebplugin doesn't work with some java applets

2009-07-14 Thread marco.pallotta
Matthias I sent the messages that appear in console when I launch firefox (and
the applet) with the command you sayd. In the "launching applet.txt" file I
posted the messages that appear when I launch the applet. After the applet was
launched I see and error (unable to update device list) and then, on the status
bar on the bottom of browser, the message "Applet not started".
When I close firefox other messages appear ("closing firefox.txt" file).

2009-07-14 Thread Micah Gersten
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important
for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn
more about finding the right package at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. I have classified this bug as a
bug in firefox-3.0.
For future reference you might be interested to know that a lot of applications
have bug reporting functionality built in to them. This can be accessed via
the Report a Problem option in the Help menu for the application with which you
are having an issue. You can learn more about this feature at

[Bug 150177] Re: Deskbar applet freezes any time whatever I ask

2009-07-14 Thread hnrkg
It seems like I might have the same problem. Whenever I type something,
let's say 'Documnts'. And because it's misspelled I hit backspace to
correct it, but then Deskbar freezes.

Similarly, I have to kill deskbar-applet to make it reload. One other
thing is that when I move the cursor over the input field it
'disappears' -- very strange.

I have tried to run it from CLI to get any errors messages, but no luck.
It doesn't tell me anything.

[Bug 397636] Re: libgnutls13 rejects ldap server's self-signed certificate

2009-07-14 Thread Scott Briggs
So the latest update (2.5 from 2.3) completely breaks our ldap
infrastructure which relies on a self created CA to sign all of our
internal certs. I'm still trying to figure out what the specific cause
is, but this is definitely the source of the problem - as soon as I
upgrade to 2.5, I can no longer use ldap authentication and just as
quickly, I can use ldap as soon as I downgrade to 2.3.

>From the ldap server logs:
Jul 14 00:17:17 ldapserver slapd[29785]: conn=14112697 fd=214 ACCEPT from
IP=X.X.X.X:37919 (IP=0.0.0.0:636)
Jul 14 00:17:17 ldapserver slapd[29785]: conn=14112697 fd=214 TLS established
tls_ssf=256 ssf=256
Jul 14 00:17:17 ldapserver slapd[29785]: conn=14112697 fd=214 closed
(connection lost)

On the client side with a simple "ldapsearch -x -v" (the ldap.conf file has the
URI and specific cipher suite) I get this:
ldap_initialize( )
ldap_sasl_bind(SIMPLE): Can't contact LDAP server (-1)

My guess is that this has something to do with how I originally set up
our ldap infrastructure - because of the extremely poorly documented
switch from openssl to gnutls in debian/ubuntu's implementation of
openldap, I set a specific TLSCipherSuite with strong encryption.
Setting the cipher suite to a generic "high encryption" which
incorporated a number of specific cipher suites no longer worked.

Also, why was this only now pushed to hardy-updates when it was built in
feb? I have servers I built only last week that don't even have this
update.

I do not agree that the problem is "due to to the previleges". The problem is
that the error is misleading: if it read "you do not have privileges to access

"Interface does not exist" gives you a feeling of irreality :)

[Bug 369149] Re: mouse freezes

2009-07-14 Thread Kasper Peeters
I have the same problem (on Jaunty 9.04), and originally thought it was
like bug #228746. However, that one seems to lead to more general USB
failures, while I only encounter a random hang with USB mice (the USB
keyboard still works, but re-inserting the mouse, or another one, does
not help to resolve the problem.

My machine is a 64-bit ext3 system, so those two parameters seem to be
irrelevant (I cannot test with PS/2 mice because there is no PS/2 port).

I changed the colours a bit and make the outline bigger, although it's
not an exact replica, it's pretty close to the 16x16 icons

[Bug 394467] Re: Firefox 3.5 does not detect flash player

2009-07-14 Thread Michael R. Crusoe
I am experiencing the same error. I think this is related to
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox-3.5/+bug/397211 as it
varies from site to site.

Example: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ detects flash A-OK
but Vanguard's website doesn't until I change my user-agent to a
"Firefox/3.5" variant from the "Shiretoko/3.5" default.

Example public Vanguard link:
https://personal.vanguard.com/us/accounttypes/advice/ATSAdviceOnAssetMgmtContent.jsp

FYI:

[Bug 397211] Re: Shiretoko user agent string breaks compatibilty with major websites

2009-07-14 Thread Michael R. Crusoe
Vanguard is another high profile site that parses the user agent when it
shouldn't. Example:
https://personal.vanguard.com/us/accounttypes/advice/ATSAdviceOnAssetMgmtContent.jsp
fails to load flash content for "Shiretoko/3.5" variants but works for
"Firefox/3.5" variants.

Possible related:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox-3.5/+bug/394467 ?
