[Bug 358927] [NEW] Can't find how to print apt. and description for appointments for date range

2009-04-10 Thread James Blackwell
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Evolution: 2.24.3-0ubuntu1
Distro: Ubuntu 8.10

What I expected to happen:

I can't find the way to print a list of appointments and descriptions
over a long range of time in evolution. My goal is to track my health
notes in the calendar, right next to Dr. Appointments (which have their
own descriptions). With such a list printed out, I can make sure I cover
everything with the doctor.

However, I can't find any way to print a list of appointments with
associated descriptions for a range of dates. I'm hoping to print out
four to six month ranges along the lines of :

Health
 15 Jan, 2009 - 15 Jan, 2009
 Sick
Couldn't keep down food for more than an hour.

Health
 2 Feb, 2009 - 2 Feb, 2009
 SIck
Fever for three days

Health
 4 April, 2009 10:00 - 4 April, 2009 10:30
 Endo Clinic
Told to continue monthly shot. Cholesterol results were positive. Dr. Needs
IGF-1 and GH.

Health
 4 April, 2009 3:00 - 4 April, 2009
 Dr. , PCH
Prescribed Chantix. Agreed to schedule new MRI if Endo will describe the
type of scan that's needed.

Health
 6 April, 2009 - 6 April, 2009
 Endo walkin
   See shot appiontment 6 April

Health
 6 April, 2009 11:00 - 6 April, 2009 11:45
 Shot
Found out PCH canceled shot because Endo hadn't sent the paperwork in time.
Used backup prescription.

And so on, for several months of appointments and notes at a time.

What I found instead:

- Print preview on day, workweek, week and month only shows appointments for
one day, workweek, and month respectively, does not show descriptions.
- List view shows appointment name, start & end dates, but does not show
description and does not print more than a month at a time.
- Advanced search does not provide the option to specify a date range.
-

[Bug 354732] Re: Fan control broke in 2.6.27-11

2009-04-10 Thread Bryan Wu
Rob,

It looks like this issue was gone away since 2.6.27-11.31 kernel release
on intrepid. So I highly suggest that you try the Jaunty beta release on
you machine to verify this issue as Leann mentioned this bug tracker.

Or if you have time, please test other 2.6.27-11.xx kernel such as
2.6.27-11.21 to help us narrow down the target kernel version.

Thanks a lot

2009-04-10 Thread mavosaure
@ Étienne BERSAC :
Using your PPA, I've got a warning message about partial update :
"Certaines mises à jour ne peuvent pas être installées"

I suppose that it's due to the fact of a difference in the name of the packages
:
~$ apt-cache policy gnomescan

  Candidat : 0.4.1-0ubuntu4

[Bug 357231] Re: Installing a network printer (Dell 1320c) with cups in Xubuntu makes that it only prints 3 pages of each job. It works perfectly in Ubuntu (8.04 and 8.10)

2009-04-10 Thread ikkepjo
I apologise, I should have been more clear:

I installed from scratch (reformat and all) Ubuntu 8.10

I then checked the printer, it works as expected

I note that cups-driver-gutenprint is intalled

I then installed xubuntu-desktop with synaptic

I notice that 122 packages are installed, amongst which cupsys-driver-
gutenprint (the one labeled transitional)

I then checked the printer, it starts exhibiting the broken behavior:
max 3 pages of a document roll out and then it is in error

I do not know how to check whether cupsys-driver-gutenprint is actually
used, and whether it is the problem. If somebody can enlighten me, I am
quite prepared to test whatever, but at this stage I am somewhat at
loss.

Regards,

Peter

I haven't found anything that obviously triggers the problem.

[Bug 151867] Re: vpn pptp on Kubuntu is not available

2009-04-10 Thread William Hood
Vishal,

It doesn't look like the new plasmoid will supported PPTP for Jaunty,
but I wouldn't let it be a deal-breaker. If you install the package
"network-manager-gnome", remove the Network Manager Plasmoid from your
desktop, put a link in ~/.kde/Autostart to /usr/bin/nm-applet, then
restart KDE, you will be able to run KDE, but will instead have the
Gnome network manager applet (complete with PPTP VPN) running in your
System Tray. I'd rather use the new Plasmoid, but I may well have to
wait for October. Until then, no I'd rather not downgrade to Gnome over
one issue.

[Bug 358931] [NEW] GNOME (panel?) chooses monitor for panels randomly

2009-04-10 Thread Lars Wirzenius
Public bug reported:

I have two identical monitors attached to my desktop machine. There does
not seem to be a way for me to tell GNOME that I want the panels on the
right monitor and not the left one. Sometimes it puts them on one,
sometimes on the other.

I tried to fix this by swapping the monitors in gnome-desktop-
properties, but that resulted in the right monitor going completely
black, and undoing that made the left one go black, too.

both cups-driver-gutenprint and cupsys-driver-gutenprint are now

So how come cups calls a different driver depending on the window

[Bug 358941] [NEW] 100% CPU usage when using an LDAP directory addressbook and activating "Autocompletion"

2009-04-10 Thread David Planella
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

When using evolution with an addressbook configured to access an LDAP
directory, the evolution-data-server-2.24 process will use 100% CPU at
random times.

Once started using 100% of the CPU, it will stay this way, even when
quitting Evolution through the menus. The only way to stop the CPU usage
is to use the following command:

evolution --force-shutdown

However, when starting Evolution again, the problem occurs exactly in
the same way again.

A workaround is to disable Autocompletion for the particular LDAP
addressbook under Edit>Preferences>Autocompletion.

[Bug 358943] [NEW] Harddisk stops working after wakeup

2009-04-10 Thread Michele Mordenti
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: laptop-mode-tools

I don't know if this could be an invalid or incomplete bug or a duplicate of
bug 329154,
anyway I report my problem.

After the last update of laptop-mode-tools I have a problem with my laptop.
After a software suspend and a wakeup of my laptop I notice that every write to
disk
has a lag of some seconds.
The problem persist even if I plug again the power cable.
Sometimes the harddisk stops working at all, and I have the dmesg full of I/O
error.
In this case I must shut down the machine by pressing for 4 seconds the power
button.
It seems that the policy is too aggressive.
The smart tool doesn't report any failure, so I hope in a software bug :-(

What information could I post to investigate on my problem?

Some system information:
Hardware: Dell latitude D430.
Kubuntu jaunty daily updated.

[Bug 358946] [NEW] Warning that IDE devices can't be iterated

2009-04-10 Thread Loïc Minier
Public bug reported:

Hi

when shutting down an armel babbage imx51 board running Ubuntu I get:
halt: Unable to iterate IDE devices: No such fil[79328.88] Power down.
e or directory

This is worded like an error situation, but it seems normal in this
case; perhaps there's a way to detect that there's no IDE device and not
display a warning in this case?

Bye

Upstream has left a comment. Please respond in the linked upstream

"This crash report appears to be corrupt. It thinks that it crashed

Okay, we need to find a way to replicate this bug so we can investigate

Are you running Rawstudio on some exotic hardware or anything else that
may differs from many other?

I'd like to have a sample of some photos that causes this behaviour -
just in case. Can you put a tarball with a few (it it's enough) on

Thank you for your report!

However, processing it in order to get sufficient information for the

might be caused by some outdated packages which were installed on your system

Please upgrade your system to the latest package versions. If you still

[Bug 336329] Re: webcam not working

2009-04-10 Thread Jonathan
Your device ID is listed as "Being Tested" in GSPCA V4L2:
http://moinejf.free.fr/webcam.html

Your best bet to see if things are working are to install the latest
GSPCA from source: http://linuxtv.org/hg/~jfrancois/gspca/

Basic instructions: http://hansdegoede.livejournal.com/6630.html

Other things I had to do (in a fresh Jaunty install) before instructions
would work: install libncurses5-dev, libncurses5-dbg and mercurial.

I also blacklisted the module that was incorrectly loading when I
plugged in my webcam, but I don't think you do since for my camera it
was simply loading the wrong module.

You may want to give it a few weeks before you try this as it seems that
they're working on your camera now and things might be rough :)

[Bug 311336] Re: error loading tp_smapi module

2009-04-10 Thread swissz
hi guys,

I followed Heri's steps, but it still doesn't work after reboot. It was
working directly after doing all the steps writen on the thinkwiki page
Heri mentioned, but after reboot it just doesn't. I always have to
recompile the tp_smapi module and only in that case it works.

It is always complaining after "sudo modprobe -a tp_smapi hdaps"

WARNING: Error inserting hdaps (/lib/modules/2.6.28-11-server/extra/hdaps.ko):
Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)

dmesg returns this:

thinkpad_ec: Unknown parameter `force_io'

I have Jaunty with 2.6.28-11-server on my Thinkpad T400.

Now how could this problem be solved without having to recompile the
module each time after reboot?

[Bug 358951] [NEW] 3.8.x that comes with Ubuntu 8.10 LiveCD kills fat32 partitions on USB HDD

2009-04-10 Thread techtonik
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gparted

I can't be more disappointed in Ubuntu + GParted than I am now. I've
just ruined my backup USB HDD with GParted that was run under Ubuntu
8.10 Live. Of course, it warned to backup data, but only because it was
unreal to backup my HDD I decided to use GParted resize instead of
backup and format.

I had two FAT32 partitions on USB HDD and wanted to shrink the first one
to format and install Ubuntu on it. This required moving information
from this partition to the second. As I didn't have enough free space I
have to repeat resize and move operation several times. I made only one
operation at a time - never chained them. On the fourth resize some
strange sign appeared in front of my first partition. After a check run
the partition could not be mounted. When I attached HDD to another
system, I've found that all my files were lost. Disk label was garbaged
although partition types still were FAT32. I do not know how did it
happen, perhaps I've run chkdsk fix fix parameter explicitly from
Windows rescue CD, but it crunched first partition (bootex.log is
attached) and created FOUND.000 folder that now contains a salad from
file.chk chunks. =/

My second partition now contains "sictaged.ito" entry without any means
to access it contents. I do not know why the second partition was messed
too and more importantly - how to restore it back? I suspect that I run
"check" command which killed FAT32 tables.

That was strange (besides extremely long time to scan drives after each
operation) is that after USB HDD partition was unmounted from GParted,
Ubuntu still popped up that disk window. Even if so, it is unclear how
could unmounted partition result in FAT32 tables being overwritten in
both FAT32 partitions.

[Bug 358954] [NEW] Weak password prompt should only be displayed when the password has been changed

2009-04-10 Thread Loïc Minier

Hi,

(This is a minor bug.) When you enter a weak password, you get a popup
about that when hitting next; if you then go back to change the hostname
but don't touch the password, you get that popup again. I think there
should be a flag preventing that popup from running if the password

[Bug 358952] [NEW] NetworkManager Mobile Broadband first-time setup dialog keeps reappearing on login, even after the connection has been configured

2009-04-10 Thread Antonio Macchi III
Public bug reported:

The dialog for the first-time setup of a Mobile Broadband network card
(actually a USB "stick") keeps reappearing upon login, even after the
connection has already been configured. I have observer this on a
netbook with Ubuntu 9.04 "Jaunty" beta.

PS: I have also noticed that the location and provider database show errors!
This could be another sympthom of the same cause for the problem.
By the way, yes the reappearing dialogue is annoying and somewhat sinks an
otherwise fantastic release. These mobile broadband devices are very common
here in the Nordic countries.

[Bug 358257] Re: Progress bars should show one side coloured

Sorry, I probably didn't expain myself.

You know how, if you watched a movie in Totem and you were halfway

murrine was updated is that the part that used to be orange is now grey

[Bug 358956] [NEW] armel Babbage iMX51 line truncation and addition on VGA output

Hi

When using the VGA output on the armel imx51 babbage board under Xorg,
the first lines are cut (gnome-panel misses some lines of pixels at the
top, starting to cut the Ubuntu logo, perhaps ~ 10 pixels).

Also, at the bottom of the display, there are some blank lines with the
same color as the bottom panel. If I move my mouse pointer to the
bottom right corder, these lines suddenly turn black. The color seems
to follow the color of whatever is in the bottom right corner of the

[Bug 358958] [NEW] SIMPLE should understand phone calls

2009-04-10 Thread Daniel Esser
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pidgin

Hi,

I tested the SIMPLE protocol with Sipgate and it connects fine. Incoming
calls will trigger a message "Unsupported ...". I checked the features
to come and couldn't find any future task that will implement SIP for
phone calls. If Iam wrong close this bug.

SIP for phone calls would make pidgin more ready for business use.
