[Bug 349386] [NEW] Intel i845 Jaunty: X failed to start, but installing from xorg-edgers fixed it

2009-03-27 Thread Piraja
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

Just wanted to briefly report a positive test case. I upgraded form
Intrepid to Jauntu two days ago on an old Compaq Evo D510 SFF desktop
machine with the notoriously buggy Intel i845. X would not start except
in low graphics mode. The I added the xorg-edgers into my sources.list,
updated and everything was fine after that. Thanks to the "xorg crack
pushers" for that and sorry for being so laconic — a bit busy now. If in
need of more info, please ask.

[Bug 337759] Re: openerp-server depends on python-xml and is therefore uninstallable ATM

2009-03-27 Thread Z
That's a shame, since Jaunty contains the first ubuntu package of
openerp-server ever. Seems like this is a non-issue on debian, they're still on
python 2.5.
I was happy about the package because I don't like to install things outside
the package management - saves a lot of trouble later on (I tend to forget
manually installed packages ;) ).
I guess I'll try a VM running debian instead of ubuntu.

[Bug 111173] Re: gparted does not partition previous partition

2009-03-27 Thread YoBoY
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it. We were wondering if this is still an issue for you.
Can you try with the latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately, we can't fix it because your description didn't include
enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs
effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd
be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the
problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at

Thanks!

I filed bug 349391 which looks exactly like this bug but I believe is

The bug here, I joined while testing jaunty on my laptop (nvidia

The new bug presents the same problem, but on my desktop, after i
upgraded it from 810 to 904 beta and installed fglrx (it works on 904
beta with radeon)

the key difference from the log files: here is the crash record on my

[Bug 110930] Re: Format DVD+RW doesn't use dvd+rw-format correctly

2009-03-27 Thread YoBoY
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue
for you. Can you try with the latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem
like the command line you used.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

[Bug 348827] Re: mad64+nvidia (free driver): suspend/resume failure

2009-03-27 Thread michaelhhh
Hi Leann,

Thank you very much for your reply to this report. I gathered some more
information:
- on resume there are three beebs in a distance of about 2secs
- the system actually does resume, just not display anything - at least I can
ping and login with ssh 2secs after the beebs
- I was able to reproduce this several times
- The extra PCIe MSI graphics adapter with NVIDIA GeForce 8400GS is set in BIOS
as primary and used for X
- the onboard NVIDIA 6200 is not used (connector has a lose contact)
- it did fine work with Ubuntu 8.10 and the onboard graphics, both kinds of
suspend
- unfortunately I never had a setup with Ubuntu 8.10 and the 8400GS (did not
try)

The hints in
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelSuspendHibernateResume do not
seem to apply to my problem, as it is clear that the X window system
cannot be resumed. Any hints for this? I am attaching the Xlogs from
the failed resume, but as far as i can see there is no further hint to
the problem.

Michael

Seems to be solved on Jaunty Beta.
The DVD is not ejected, it is read and checksummed immediately after burning.

[Bug 115970] Re: qt4 apps doesn't start with symbol lookup error

2009-03-27 Thread Terence Simpson
No Ubuntu packages will install anything to /usr/local, it must be something
you installed manually or a .deb you installed from a 3rd party repository.
If it's the latter you can find the package with: dpkg -S
usr/local/lib/libQtCore.so.4

[Bug 327775] Re: Evolution won't parse messages, stuck on "Formating message ..." in the status bar

2009-03-27 Thread Dan Kortschak
This has just started happening for me - only with html messages, but
100% reproducible.

Though I should add that the non-response has been going on for a long
time (don't recall how many versions): when evolution has decided it is
doing something it's non-response to a window closure circumvents the
window manager's monitoring of that, so a killall is the oply thing that
will close the window. This I think is a significant failing in the UI.

[Bug 349400] [NEW] policy kit prevents restarting when only a user is logged in

2009-03-27 Thread David Erosa
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: fast-user-switch-applet

Today I found that trying to restart using f-u-s-a showed the policy kit
dialog reporting that I was not allowed to restart when other users
where logged in. After closing gnome-terminal the behavior was correct,
so I think the policy indentifies the terminal session as another user
in spite of being the same username/uid . Using Jaunty snapshot
20090324, will try again with today's beta.
