please check your localstore.rdf permissions if you still see this. We
should look into using something else as a base timeline for startup i
think. This is definitly on my jaunty radar.

Is there an estimate when the fix (using 2.20.8) will appear in the repository?

[Bug 317195] Re: Styles & formatting menu vanished

2009-02-11 Thread Tom
Hi again

As you posted this as a Question and as a bug-report people are now
automatically given your answer in a list with other questions and/or
bug-reports whenever they post a new bug-report or question about
OpenOffice. It's why it is better to post a bug-report rather than to
possibly miss out on something that may turn out to be widespread and
serious. Thanks for reporting this and for getting the answer back to
us too :)

Many regards from
Tom :)

[Bug 327175] Re: Sometimes loses input devices on suspend/resume: Device has changed - disabling.

2009-02-11 Thread Matt Zimmerman
** Summary changed:

- sometimes loses input devices on suspend/resume
+ Sometimes loses input devices on suspend/resume: Device has changed -
disabling.

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-evdev

On the way back from Berlin on Friday, I resumed my laptop on the plane
to find that X was no longer accepting keyboard events. I tracked this
down as far as EvdevCacheCompare having decided that the keyboard wasn't
in the same state as it was on suspend and therefore disabling it. It's
possible that this is related to bug 322946, but I don't know whether
the position fields are defined for keyboard devices; unfortunately, my
laptop ran out of battery before I could get it connected to a network,
download debugging symbols, and attach gdb to the X server, which had
  been my plan.

I've attached all the information I gathered before running out of
battery, in the hope that it will be helpful. I was running kernel
  version 2.6.28-6.17.
+
+ The error message was: (EE) AT Translated Set 2 keyboard: Device has
+ changed - disabling.

[Bug 313218] Re: IPV6 causes slow internet access

2009-02-11 Thread Daniel Stoyanov
I'm also experiencing this issue. I just upgraded to Jaunty and tested
the following applications :

- apt, Failed to fetch
http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/jaunty/Release.gpg Could not resolve
'archive.ubuntu.com'
- pidgin, connects to GTalk (gmail.com), but refuses to connect to ICQ
(login.messaging.aol.com)
- firefox very slow, almost unusable until I set network.dns.disableIPv6 to true
- rhythmbox listening radio works without any problem
(http://mp3.live.tv-radio.com/franceinter/all/franceinterhautdebit.mp3)

I think this bug is very annoying because some network services (like
messenger for example) are very important for most users. I have
attached ifconfig, if you need further info, don't hesitate.

They are and they do. Whatever caused the user to get messed up is likely
at the root of the error. This aspect of the clamav-base postinstall
script is unchanged for a long time and works well for virtually everyone.

Something else is wrong with your system. I don't know what.

Question to developers to correctly do the merge (just to learn how to do it).
Are these steps correct?

- apt-get source pidgin
- download pidgin 2.5.4 from pidgin site
- untarbz2
- targz it to pidgin-2.5.4-orig.tar.gz
- cp -r pidgin-2.5.3/debian pidgin-2.5.4/
- cd pidgin-2.5.4
- dch -i
- correct the version in the changelog and add a description
- debuild -S -sa -us -uc
- debdiff pidgin_2.5.3-0ubuntu3.dsc pidgin_2.5.4-0ubuntu1.dsc > big_debdiff
- attach here the debdiff

[Bug 196277] Re: A GNOME login without keypress dosn't set GNOME keyboard settings

2009-02-11 Thread Haggai Eran
Bryce: I don't understand why you are closing this bug. True it is fixed in
8.10, but it is not fixed in 8.04, which is still supposed to be supported.
Some workarounds have been offered above. Why not use them to fix it in 8.04,
or backport the fix from 8.10?
What more information is needed to send upstream?

[Bug 327931] Re: Please backport GIMP 2.6.4 to Intrepid.

2009-02-11 Thread feranick
This bug is specific to Intrepid for which gimp is already in version
2.6.x. This backport to intrepid is simply a bug fix release.

On the other hand, backporting 2.6.4 to hardy requires backporting
several libraries, with added complexity, see:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/hardy-backports/+bug/279115

Thus I would recommend redirecting the work and discussion towards
backporting 2.6.x to hardy to that to bug #279115.

Unfortunately I can not reproduce your bug. Maybe it would help if you

[Bug 305531] Re: Context menu and drop down list are slow to appear

2009-02-11 Thread Alkis Georgopoulos
An easier way to reproduce the bug is with
ssh -Y localhost (or -X)
firefox

There's a big delay there as well, no need for network or different computers
to reproduce it...
And about:config is a xul app, the delay also happens there.

[Bug 294925] Re: nvidia 3D/compiz performance is greatly reduced in Intrepid

2009-02-11 Thread Rocko
I get the similar openarena-benchmark results with nvidia 180.27 on
Jaunty alpha 4 as I did in Intrepid, ie 230-280 fps compared to Hardy's
much faster 435 fps average.

Call of Duty 4 runs the same as in Intrepid, ie compiz sometimes slows
it down and sometimes doesn't (but when not slowed down it gets the same
fps as in Hardy).

[Bug 327978] Re: Continual I/O errors when installing

2009-02-11 Thread Mark Greenwood
Update - I've just installed the 64-bit version twice in a row, so my

** Description changed:

- When trying to install Kubuntu Jaunty Alpha 4, the installer fails part
- way through saying it thinks the CD drive is faulty or the CD is worn
- out. On the console there are hundreds of I/O errors. The machine is a
- Sony VAIO NGN-FZ31M. I have also seen exactly the same behaviour on
- another VAIO with the Ubuntu 8.10 install.
+ When trying to install Kubuntu Jaunty Alpha 4, (32 bit) the installer

+ is worn out. On the console there are hundreds of I/O errors. The
+ machine is a Sony VAIO NGN-FZ31M. I have also seen exactly the same

This is not a faulty CDROM drive. It reads every CD I put in it, and I have
successfully installed Mandriva, Windows Vista,
Debian, Ubuntu 8.10, and Fedora *this week* using this drive. Only with the
9.04 CD do I see these errors, and I have reburned the CD 4 times at low speed
on a very reliable CD writer.

I don't know how to investigate but as this is the second time I've
encountered this problem, on 2 different machines, and it only happens
with (k)ubuntu I am certain it is not a hardware fault. Let me know what
information you require and I will do my best to help track it down.

[Bug 305280] Re: [need-update] Gparted to latest stable 0.4.2 (added ext4 support) in Ubuntu Jaunty

2009-02-11 Thread Colin Watson
Hi Anibal, Alan, Otavio,

We have an Ubuntu bug open at the moment
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gparted/+bug/305280) asking
for gparted 0.4.2 in Ubuntu. This is more urgent than it is in Debian,
since we're aiming for full ext4 support in our next release, and our
feature freeze is only a week away. As such, I'm minded to sponsor this
despite the fact that Debian experimental only has 0.4.1 at the moment.

However, upstream only ships .tar.bz2 files, which means that we would
have to repack it to get an .orig.tar.gz. I'm cautious about doing this
independently since it could get in the way of later being able to sync
the package from Debian if we ended up with different files.

Unless you're already in the process of packaging this, in which case
I'll gladly yield to your .orig.tar.gz, perhaps we could agree on this
file, with SHA256sum
6b6a927b9f46c1d5b7841214f0298c45a7b91ada1cd6abe040cf0866748613ef?

I get a very similar problem, but a -list format gives me everything

[Bug 326002] Re: Please merge irssi-0.8.12-6 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

2009-02-11 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package irssi - 0.8.12-6ubuntu1

---
irssi (0.8.12-6ubuntu1) jaunty; urgency=low

  * Merge from Debian unstable (LP: #326002), Ubuntu remaining changes:
- Added debian/patches/90irc-ubuntu-com.dpatch
- debian/patches/03firsttimer_text:
+ Adapt it so it tells you about connecting to irc.ubuntu.com and
joining #ubuntu instead of irc.debian.org and #debian.
New with this merge: We now also apply this patch.

irssi (0.8.12-6) unstable; urgency=low

  * New patch:
- mode-display-fix: Fix mode display in whois with unreal (379 numeric).
  (upstream svn r4637, bug #479)
  * Updated patch:
- perlembed-fix: The initial approach wasn't completely clean, it got
  revised by upstream.

[Bug 158190] Re: Totem-xine subtitle lag

[Bug 180636] Re: dvd video is slow and jerky

2009-02-11 Thread Andreas Zitzelsberger
@Lars: Was working for me on vanilla 8.04/i386 + proprietary drivers,
albeit with a much smaller screen size.

@all: I've reported the subtitle-related issue at the nvnews forum:
http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=1929108 and closed bug
158190 and http://bugs.xine-project.org/show_bug.cgi?id=206, as this is
definitely caused by the proprietary nvidia drivers.

If your video performance is low regardless of subtitles with the
proprietary nvidia drivers you might want to upgrade them to 180.29 (if
possible) and/or rifle through
http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=14 for ways to
improve performance.
