[Bug 248839] Re: List of network servers is not updated
I answered by mail but I realize that for added transparency I should perhaps reply here too: Not sure what exactly what type of smbclient output you wish. I haven't used this utility before. I don't have any problems listing the shares on all the computers in the HOME workgroup with the -L flag. See below. There are currently five computers on-line on the home network, two Ubuntu machines, two XP machines and one machine running Vista. Not sure what the "Domain" parameter in the smbclient output means. No Windows domain is set on any computer. All machines have workgroup set to "HOME" but that doesn't show for the Windows machines. If I try smbclient -L=* then I only get one of the computers (Solbacka) listed as below. Not sure if "*" is a valid value. I also did smbfind (see below). It would only list the two Ubuntu computers currently on the network. Not sure if the Windows machines are supposed to be listed. It certainly looks so in some of the examples on Internet. After several tries to open the Windows Network in Nautilus, all five servers are listed in the smb://home/ view. The network:/// view only shows three computers. After computer restart the correct list appears in the network:/// view. In Windows, the My Network Places window shows all servers and shares currently on the network (and a few that aren't currently on-line). Overall, the different ways to look at the network (through Windows, smbclient, smbfind, Nautilus) give an inconsistent view with respect to available servers and workgroup assignment. And again, this is after coming back from hibernation. Please let me know what smbclient commands you'd like to have the output from so that I can assist you better. Thanks! [Bug 211632] Re: vlc does not play files from a "bookmarked" smb share
It might also be worthy to note that this issue can be caused with the way VLC handles the SMB access. If you are trying to connect to an SMB share through VLC it will apparently use its own "SMB Access Module" which looks to default to using the current username and no password. This can be changed in the VLC settings to use a different username/pass/workgroup. This can cause a problem if you're accessing a windows share that requires a password, or if the username you're using requires a password on the windows share. For me, I have the user "jrennell" on the windows machine where my media is and I log into Ubuntu with "jrennell". Since "jrennell" is a user on the windows machine, trying to log in as "jrennell" with a blank password was not allowed. Changing the access module to "anonymous" allowed me to open files from nautilus without a problem. I had the exact problem described in this bug report, and could open then from the "file > open file" method through VLC. -- vlc does not play files from a "bookmarked" smb share https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/211632 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 263049] Re: CUPS test page does not display correct print job data. pstopdf filter needs improvements, test page needs some changes
I have checked it now and it works as advertized on real printers. The "bc" dependency is really needed as page sizes and margins can be given as floating point numbers, whereas the shell's "$[...]" construct is only capable of calculating with integers. "bc" is usually already installed, so there will be no new package blowing up the desktop CDs. I have committed the package to the SVN. Current state now is that for all PPDs with a "Resolution" option or at least with a "*DefaultResolution: ..." entry the left hand side info box on the CUPS test page is absolutely correct. The right hand side info box will always show Ghostscript, also if the printer is a native PostScript printer used with a Ghostscript-less PPD file. Suggestion for further improvement: Let cpdftocps also take paper size, margins, and resolution into conversion process, simply to assure that the conversion is done the best way possible. -- CUPS test page does not display correct print job data. pstopdf filter needs improvements, test page needs some changes https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/263049 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
