[Bug 185280] Re: NetworkManager fouls up /etc/hosts
I messed around with network-admin until the problem stopped happening, so I took some time today to try and reproduce the problem again. I kept notes about what I was doing, which I've attached. The short version is: - In roaming mode, NetworkManager (well, network-admin, but I suspect they're closely related) likes to forget the settings I've told it, like "domain name" and "DNS servers". The easiest way to make this happen is to reboot; I suspect renewing the DHCP lease might cause the same effect, although unplugging and re-plugging the network cable doesn't. - The fact that the "Location" field doesn't stay set between invocations of network-admin is confusing, especially given the larger-scale forgetting in the previous point. - It seems that the crucial factor is not the contents of the "Hosts" tab, but the "General" tab - the long delays appear when "Domain" is empty on the General tab, but go away when "Domain" is filled in. I'm not sure if this is actually a NetworkManager bug - it might be a documentation bug (The network-admin online help is rather simplistic and doesn't mention roaming mode at all, let alone tell me how I should expect it to work). If this bug is in the wrong place, I'd appreciate any help you could give me about moving it to wherever the right place might be. ** Attachment added: "network-manager-log.txt" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/12771288/network-manager-log.txt -- NetworkManager fouls up /etc/hosts https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/185280 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 56251] Re: Orinoco pcmcia card - Insertion causes hard lockup
I'm sorry I wasn't clear about that. You have it correct. When I boot the system with the card in, the system recognizes the card and it locks up. The system boots fine without the card in, and once booted, the card isn't recognized (I don't think - I can't use the card, anyhow). Thanks so much for your help. [Bug 203824] Re: bad default aliasing for 'arial'
It looks like it's this file: /etc/fonts/conf.d/30-metric-aliases.conf That's causing the problems. If that file is removed, then everything goes back to the happy defaults from before (arial -> Deja Vu Sans, etc.) I'm not sure what 30-metric-aliases.conf is trying to do, but it's definitely messing up the aliases and leading to a degraded out of the box experience. -- bad default aliasing for 'arial' https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/203824 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Confirmed on Hardy with electricsheep-2.6.8-9ubuntu1 and gnome- screensaver-2.21.6-0ubuntu3, running XMonad, not Compiz. In Bug #2379 (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/electricsheep/+bug/2379), it was mentioned that the fix was to add "--zoom 1" to the exec line in /usr/share/applications/screensavers/electricsheep.desktop, and that this fix was released in 2.6.8-5ubuntu1, and the exec line is still fine in this version. [Bug 204533] [NEW] onda h600 don't work with elan u132
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.24 I'm trying to use the onda h600 (a pcmcia express card for UMTS-HSDPA) on an assembled desktop under kubuntu 8.04 alpha 6, but the problem is present even in 7.04 and 7.10. The card apparentely have a ZTE MF330 chipset, and is OHCI compliant. I want to use with elan u132, an usb external adapter for umts-hsdpa express cards. This device must load 2 modules: the ftdi-u132 when it is plugged in the usb port, and the u132-hcd, when it recognize an express card inside it. What happen is that, when I insert the card in the u132 device, the green light (it flashes, is not fix) of the u132 becomes red. On what I understand, the module ftdi-u132 is loaded but not the u132-hcd. With an dmesg command I received these data, when I plug the u132 in the usb port: [.xx] usb 2-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 2 [.xx] usb 2-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice [.xx] driver ftdi-elan built at 21:00:33 on Feb 14 2008 [.xx] usb 2-1: interface 0 has I=81 O=02 [.xx] usb 2-1: USB FTDI=efaea000 JTAG interface 0 now attached to ftdi192 [.xx] usb 2-1: interface 1 has I=83 O=04 [.xx] usb 2-1: USB FTDI=ef3d1000 ELAN interface 1 now activated [.xx] usbcore: registered new interface drive ftdi-elan If I insert the express card, I receive this message: [.xx] usb 2-1: initialized failed - trying again in 10 seconds and it is continuos: infact, if I press the return button on the keyboard, I obtain the same error, with only xxx.xx that is changed. I thought that the problem was related to the bug 129433: infact, for work, the user of the onda h600 must place in the blacklist the driver ehci_hcd, but even if I do that I obtain no good results. It seems that the second module driver, u132-hcd, have problem when it try to load itself and u132 so don't recognize the onda h600. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- onda h600 don't work with elan u132 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/204533 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 204541] [NEW] Transmission causes hiccups in network latency sensitive applications
Public bug reported: When an upload and download limit is set (well below the connection's limits), transmission saturates the connection about once per second. For general browsing, this is fine, but for latency sensitive applications, it causes very disruptive hiccups. Online gaming is probably the most noticeable case of this (quake is unplayable, for instance), but even applications such as voip are affected, as it requires a larger buffer, in turn causing a higher latency than the connection would otherwise require. ** Affects: transmission (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Transmission causes hiccups in network latency sensitive applications https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/204541 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 125075] Re: nm-applet: requests keyring password, doesn't use it
Alex: Found it. In my version the tab is called "GNOME Keyring" that allows you to change the master password. So also changed my user password to be the same. So after re-booting only requires my user password. Thanks. -- nm-applet: requests keyring password, doesn't use it https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/125075 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 204450] Re: Daylight saving in evolution / opensync
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this bug as a bug in evolution. ** Changed in: evolution (Ubuntu) Sourcepackagename: None => evolution -- Daylight saving in evolution / opensync https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/204450 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 204536] [NEW] sound volume always resets to 100% after reboot
Public bug reported: Every time I reboot I get the sound volume back to 100%, but the sound works fine apart from this. It's just *very* annoying to have to reset the volume every time I boot the PC. I set the volume from the volume icon in the system tray. I have two sound cards installed on my system (one on the motherboard and a SB Audigy), but I'm using only the Audigy. I'm using the hardy beta (hardy-desktop-amd64) from march 19th 2008. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- sound volume always resets to 100% after reboot https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/204536 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
