[ubuntu-art] Hello All
Hello All, My name is Matteo and I'm an italian web designer. I've subscribed to lurk&learn first, then i hope i could help the community. I'll link my online portfolio once it's finished. [ubuntu-art] To Web Designers
Hi! Since there seems to be a number of web designers on this list (btw, hi Matteo!): As you should know, Ubuntu has a new visual identity. https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Artwork/VisualIdentity A new theme will be rolled out on ubuntu.com. There are many, many community websites that will need to see a refresh, too. To make this easier for all the teams out there that might not have their own skilled web/theme designers, there's an effort to build a collection of material and themes for the most used platforms. This should also increase consistency and hence brand recognition across the wider Ubuntu universe, but there's no intention to have an army of clones, there will be space for individual notes, as Ubuntu embraces diversity (damn, do I sound like a marketing drone? ;). Have a look at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Website/WebThemes Questions are best carried over to https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/Ubuntu-website and #ubuntu-website on IRC, freenode.net. newz2000 is the man, there. -- Thorsten Wilms thorwil's design for free software: http://thorwil.wordpress.com/ -- ubuntu-art mailing list ubuntu-art@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-art
Re: [ubuntu-art] To Web Designers
Thanks for the email Thorsten, if your thing is Web you should definitely check out the web presence team (details at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Website ). We go through periods of busyness and idleness, but right now we have a number of projects going and the one Thorsten mentioned is definitely going to need some design help. Our intention is to create consistently high quality themes for the CMS tools used by our community teams that incorporate the new brand elements. The project is community led and run but it does have support from both Canonical's design team and upper management.
