[ubuntu-art] [Breathe] Packaging branch frozen & development focus

2009-05-31 Thread Cory K.
In order to do some re-organization the packaging branch
(https://code.launchpad.net/~breathe-dev/breathe-icon-set/debian-packaging)
will not receive any updates until further notice.

However, "trunk" is open for updates.

Going forward this is what I want us to focus on.

* Mimetypes - I want to revisit the base mime before we get into
specific icons. After that, I want to explore design ideas. ie:
Whether we use a simple image on top if the base or we get more
  creative.
* media-* - We need to finish these up. (mentioned in past emails)
* Emotes, emblems & symlink - I feel these are easy ones we can
  knock out.
* Computer/video display & folder - These are linchpins (defining
icons) of the set and the debates must be wrapped up ASAP.

This is where I want our energy to go.

As always, you're free to add whatever to the "Submissions" page but
they will be put on the back burner in favor of the icons listed above.

thankx for the feedback,

Cory felt the same way too , but he said that he wants *kwwii* (since
he's done like icon) or *Sebastien* to chime in on the mailing list. so
that they could approve/modify/improve the icons before thinking about
using them in breathe...

once the basic design has been looked into , i'll start to complete the
whole set for the animation... :)

Btw why do you use the older version of the folder-fix icon I have
provided? It is blurrier and not as good as the last revision folder-fix2.

It was on the wiki but got cleaned up and I don't have it as my Ubuntu had
to be reinstalled. (I've lost the latest works on FF 3.5 theme for New Wave
too.)

Maybe Cory has a copy or can restore data on the wiki?

I do not have a copy nor can I restore it if it's off the "Attachments"
page on the wiki.

Is this it?
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Artwork/BreatheIconSet/Submissions?action=AttachFile&do=get&target=folder_fix2.svg

Root page:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Artwork/BreatheIconSet/Submissions?action=AttachFile

As for using the fix or not, I don't know why it wasn't used. Maybe it
had other changes I didn't agree with? I've had alot going on and can't
quite remember.

I like it but I have a couple of concerns.
You made the large size and I don't know how this looks on the smaller
sizes. Take notice that the 24px version of this icon it's used on the
panel.
Secondly, I wonder if we should take the icon set from NotifyOSD as a base
for this icons since the set will inherits from Human and I think that it's
important that we maintain certain consistency (if you are in Jaunty you can
see this icons at "/usr/share/icons/Human/scalable/status").
If not, we should make a "NotifyOSD set" for Breathe as well.
I think that before you go any further with this, we should decide this for
the icons that are present in the NotifyOSD set.

Re: [ubuntu-art] [Breathe] Network Manager-icons

2009-05-31 Thread Steve Dodier
Hello,

I think the notify-osd icons have a completely different style, which is
looking great within the notification bubbles, but i doubt it'd look great
to have the notify-osd wifi icons in the panel. I think the drawing of the
notification- wifi icons should be done afterwards, and if they should be
based on those of the icon set, they could be made smoother, and possibly
desaturated for some of them, to avoid drawing too much attention from the
user when popping up.

Exactly this (the 16x16 icon's shadow is only one line and the gradient is
vertical not tilted)

Along with the aesthetic aspect of this, someone needs to see where the
panel and OSD icons cross each other. If at all.

If it's not done before I get to it, I'll go after it this week.

I saw now the 24px and they look pretty good.

When I mentioned the NotifyOSD icons I was referring to the shape of the
icons and not the style. If we go with this icon, we should also make the
notifications icons or use this one for the bubbles.
If we gonna stick with the Human NotifyOSD set, we should make this icons
taking notice of those.

i would prefer changing the shape to these curved ones... :)

since the notify-osd icons for wireless and gsm are exactly the same,
the other gsm edge, gsm 3G ,gsm H are just minor variations... so
changing the wireless icon shape would make more sense...

also , i'v spent some time on these icons and i would hate to see them
be replaced or redo with a new shape. :P

Re: [ubuntu-art] [Breathe] Folder Icon

2009-05-31 Thread Andrew
Hi Guys,

I thought it might be a good idea to start afresh and decide what we want form
the folder icon.
Therefore on the wiki, I have placed an entry showing the current human and
oxygen icons for the
folder.

Below it we need a list of what is good and bad about each so that then we can
go forward to create
a better icon.

Please places comments here:
