Title:
  No signal after upgrading on 18.04

Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Basically, yesterday I upgraded from 17.10 to 18.04 Bionic Beaver. At
  the reboot, when I boot onto Ubuntu, after the GRUB has been shown, it
  just boots to nothing, my screen display "No signal detected",
  although I can hear the drum sound. Using nomodeset works but my
  computer is set at a wrong frequency (stuck to 77Hz, even forcing via
  xrandr doesn't work). So using nomodeset I got into i3, downloaded
  mesa drivers and tried radeon too, and rebooted. Now still shows no
  signal, but I can get into a fluent 60Hz i3, if I go to recovery mode,
  then press normal boot. The problem also with that is that GNOME
  doesn't work, when I leave i3, log onto GNOME, it shows a blackscreen
  and just sends me back to the login menu. I've noticed this error
  appeared at boot: [drm:amdgpu_init [amdgpu]] *ERROR* VGACON disables
  amdgpu kernel modesetting.

  Here's xrandr output: xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default
  Screen 0: minimum 640 x 480, current 1920 x 1080, maximum 1920 x 1080
  default connected 1920x1080+0+0 0mm x 0mm
 1920x1080  0.00*
 1280x1024  0.00
 1024x768   0.00
 800x6000.00
 640x4800.00

  Thanks for any future help!

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1752938] Re: Upgrading Ubuntu 18.04 disables GPU hardware acceleration

2018-03-07 Thread Jhonny Oliveira
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1751414 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1751414

I'm facing huge difficulties after this upgrade. All games I'm running
with wine stopped working. I did not test others. They start, but I
either get a black or purple window, no image. Can somebody point me the
right way to debug and solve this?

I have an AMD Radeon HD 7850 installed.

Making a basic test, it seems to perform better with software
rendering... ?!?

$ glxgears -info
GL_RENDERER   = AMD PITCAIRN (DRM 2.50.0 / 4.15.0-11-generic, LLVM 5.0.1)
GL_VERSION= 3.0 Mesa 18.0.0-rc4
GL_VENDOR = X.Org
(...)
VisualID 1064, 0x428
355 frames in 5.0 seconds = 70.940 FPS
300 frames in 5.0 seconds = 59.997 FPS

$ LIBGL_ALWAYS_SOFTWARE=1 glxgears -info
GL_RENDERER   = llvmpipe (LLVM 5.0, 128 bits)
GL_VERSION= 3.0 Mesa 18.0.0-rc4
GL_VENDOR = VMware, Inc.

VisualID 1064, 0x428
6604 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1320.753 FPS
6758 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1351.475 FPS

  Upgrading Ubuntu 18.04 disables GPU hardware acceleration

Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  I don't know which package causes this problem. The thing is ugrading
  Ubuntu 18.04 disables my GPU hardware acceleration.

  glxinfo_before_upgrade
  OpenGL vendor string: X.Org
  OpenGL renderer string: Radeon RX 560 Series (POLARIS11 / DRM 3.23.0 /
4.15.0-10-generic, LLVM 5.0.1)
  OpenGL core profile version string: 4.5 (Core Profile) Mesa 17.3.3

  glxinfo_after_upgrade
  OpenGL vendor string: VMware, Inc.
  OpenGL renderer string: llvmpipe (LLVM 5.0, 256 bits)
  OpenGL core profile version string: 3.3 (Core Profile) Mesa 17.3.3

  This problem is reproducible.

  Steps to reproduce:
  1. Install Ubuntu 18.04 daily live. I've tried Kubuntu 18.04 Feb 26's daily
live(the installer in Mar 1 crashes which prevents me from installing it) and
Xubuntu 18.04 Mar 2's daily live. Ubuntu is utilizing my GPU in live cd session
and after the fresh install Ubuntu is also utilizing my GPU.
  2. Reboot into the newly installed system, do a dist-upgrade and reboot
again. Opengl renderer falls back to llvmpipe.

I'm not entirely sure if this is related, but I'm also having the same
error and games that rely on opengl stoped working since (~02/03/2018 -
dd-mm-):

I have an AMD Radeon HD 7850 installed.

It seems to be related to the xorg update or the other ones around (please see

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1594814] Re: NetworkManager looking for signal strength in 'wlan0' instead of the apropriate 'wlxc46e1f1abe34"

2016-06-28 Thread Jhonny Oliveira
Can you clarify to whom/where exactly the bug should be reported?
I'm experiencing the exact same issue.

Title:
  NetworkManager looking for signal strength in 'wlan0' instead of the
  apropriate 'wlxc46e1f1abe34"

Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  I get this error in my log a lot:
  "Jun 21 15:04:00 basspistol NetworkManager[834]:   [1466514240.9769]
(wlan0): error getting signal strength: No such device"

  My wireless device (TP-Link 150Mbps Wireless N Nano USB Adapter) is
  getting a very funky name: "wlxc46e1f1abe34". It's not too much of a
  problem since the connection is established and working, but it
  renders the wifi-strength icon as if it was receiving maximum signal
  strength.

  Restarting the network-manager with: "sudo systemctl restart network-
  manager.service" solves the problem.

  Not sure if it is related, but i am also affected by this bug:
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/1589401
  Even after upgrading to: network-manager-gnome:amd64 (1.2.0-0ubuntu0.16.04.1,
1.2.0-0ubuntu0.16.04.3) on 2016-06-19

  Let me know if there is any complementary information i can provide.
