[Touch-packages] [Bug 733349] Re: Minimize Application's Windows upon clicking its Launcher Icon

it part of Unity control panel

What I do miss in Unity is the possibility to click on the app. icon on the

launch/restore it.
  mlaverdiere's futher addition:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/733349/comments/2

My suggestion would be to modify the interaction-design/process like
  this (*=my modification proposal/2 cents!):

  1) start it, if it hasn't been started yet;
  *2) restore it, if it is minimized;
  *3) focus the app, if it's started, not minimized and has not the focus yet;
  4) spread windows (of app), if app is focused and has multiple windows open;
*5) minimize it if it is in spread-mode (see 4).

Note that this bug has over 300 comments and several working but
rejected patches. This means that this feature probably will never
land in official Unity! So if you want it, you have to use a patched
  version of Unity.

There is a working patch for 13.04 ( from comment #322,
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-
  design/+bug/733349/+attachment/3573380/+files/minimize.patch ).
Somebody should set up a PPA (and note it here) to make it easy to
  install the patched version.

Bug description:
  [Impact]

   * There are many Bluetooth devices with battery information inside.
When they are treated as system battery, it will make the system
poweroff/suspend/hibernate when some Bluetooth device has critical low
battery. It is a very annoying behavior for the users. Originally,
there is no such Bluetooth battery information until Ubuntu 12.04
brings linux-quantal-lts and linux-raring-lts, so those linux kernels
  also bring this issue.

  [Test Case]

   * Pair some Bluetooth devices, such as Apple Wireless Mouse or Apple
Wireless Keyboard.
   * Click the power indicator and you can find Apple Wireless Mouse is listed
as system battery, and there is no Apple Wireless Keyboard. If you open
gnome-power-statistics, you can find the 'Supply' field of Apple Wireless Mouse
is 'Yes' but it should not be.

  [Regression Potential]

   * There is no obvious regression as I know.

  [Other Info]

   * Most patches are from upstream, modified to fix the conflicts, and made by
the same developer (i.e. fourdollars).
   * We need another patch from
https://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=d0a934b764c67b4bf626f5b7cf725a6e3066afd2
to make Apple Wireless Keyboard showing.

  [Original Bug Description]

This is a weird one... the system is an HP Pavilion 23 All In One and
is powered by a large power supply brick.

I currently have an Apple Magic Mouse connected via Bluetooth. As
soon as the mouse is connected, the Battery indicator shows up and
clicking on that shows that the system is reading my mouse as a
  battery!

See the attached screen shot for what I see in the Power status.

  Looking at hcitool:
  ubuntu@201206-11396:~$ hcitool dev
  Devices:
   hci0 9C:B7:0D:80:71:DB

To make matters even more weird, I actually observed the battery
indicator go from full to "Critically Low" and the system suspended
itself. Keep in mind, again, that this system has NO battery, it's
reading my bluetooth mouse as a battery device.

I disconnected the magic mouse and the battery indicator went to Empty
Red outline and status showed Battery Disconnected.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1314871] Re: Graphics freeze, with applications continuing working properly

2015-11-19 Thread Adnan Yumer
Same problem with 10 different laptops. This is serious! (Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS)
In my case the HTML5 player (triggered from Chromium/Opera/Firefox etc.) does
this terrible freeze. (only the pointer is alive)
After the freeze switching to another TTYx takes about a MINUTE (Ctrl+Alt+Fx).

Title:
Evince cannot open HTTP link in Google Chrome or chromium-browser

Status in apparmor package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released
Status in apparmor source package in Precise:
  Triaged
Status in apparmor source package in Quantal:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  SRU Justification:

Impact: when chromium-browser or Google Chrome are set as the default
browser, the user is unable to open links via PDF files

Development fix: the fix will be applied to Quantal via pocket copy of
  this SRU.

Stable fix: this was fixed in r2039 by adding the following to
/etc/apparmor.d/abstractions/ubuntu-helpers:
# While the chromium and chrome sandboxes are setuid root, they only link
# in limited libraries so glibc's secure execution should be enough to not
# require the santized_helper (ie, LD_PRELOAD will only use standard system
# paths (man ld.so)).
/usr/lib/chromium-browser/chromium-browser-sandbox PUxr,
/opt/google/chrome/chrome-sandbox PUxr,
/opt/google/chrome/google-chrome Pixr,
/opt/google/chrome/chrome Pixr,
/opt/google/chrome/lib*.so{,.*} m,

  TEST CASE:
  1. Install chromium-browser and/or Google Chrome

  2. Launch chromium-browser (or Chrome) and set it as the default web
  browser

  3. Open a PDF with a link in it (attached) in evince and click on the
  link.

At this point, chromium-browser (or Chrome) should open to the link
specified. Without the patch, it does not open and there are AppArmor
  denials in /var/log/kern.log.

Regression potential: the regression potential is considered low.
Launching chromium-browser and Chrome via evince is currently broken,
so there is no regression potential there, however ubuntu-helpers is
included by the (disable by default) firefox profile so a mistake in
the added policy could prevent firefox policy from loading.

Title:
Evince cannot open HTTP link in Google Chrome or chromium-browser

Status in apparmor package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
This is similar to bug #964510 but found on Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy which
already has the patch for that bug, and with a different message:

  Feb 19 23:50:14 sammy kernel: [413602.643399] type=1400
  audit(1392853814.794:89): apparmor="DENIED" operation="file_mmap"
  parent=28174 profile="/usr/bin/evince//sanitized_helper"
  name="/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libstdc++.so.6.0.18" pid=28181 comm
  ="chrome-sandbox" requested_mask="m" denied_mask="m" fsuid=0 ouid=0

Symptoms are the same, evince fails to launch chromium when it's
  selected as the default.

Evince run from the command line outputs the following when you click
  a link:

  /usr/lib/chromium-browser/chrome-sandbox: error while loading
shared libraries: libstdc++.so.6: failed to map segment from shared
  object: Permission denied

Another user reported the same issue
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apparmor/+bug/964510/comments/15
but received no response to date.
