Bug description:
  With the machines I help administer, we have been finding situations
  where the /boot directory is filling-up beyond 3 kernels on LUKS
  encrypted systems. apt autoremove is not removing old kernels as
  expected.

  This may also be an issue with unattended-upgrades since I found the
  following line commented-out by default:

  // Remove unused automatically installed kernel-related packages
  // (kernel images, kernel headers and kernel version locked tools).
  // Unattended-Upgrade::Remove-Unused-Kernel-Packages "true";

  We have had a system with as many as 15 kernel packages installed as a
  result of this not working as expected.

  The majority of these machines are using Discover to do their package
  upgrading, which uses PackageKit as its backend.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1970068] Re: L2TP+IPSec not working after upgrade to 22.04 LTS

2022-04-24 Thread Douglas Kosovic
I think this is a duplicate of the following, although the xl2tpd errors
manifest slightly differently :
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xl2tpd/+bug/1951832
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xl2tpd/+bug/1968336

But as others have confirmed, Ubuntu 22.05's xl2tpd-1.3.16-1 is broken,
so the most likely culprit.

network-manager-l2tp uses kl2tpd as its default L2TP daemon and falls back to
xl2tpd if it can't find kl2tpd. To confirm it is only xl2tpd that is broken for
you, try installing kl2tpd with the following :

sudo apt install golang-go

go install "github.com/katalix/go-l2tp/...@latest"
sudo mkdir /usr/local/sbin
sudo cp go/bin/kl2tpd /usr/local/sbin

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1969959] Re: Weird colors after startup (Ubuntu 22.04)

2022-04-24 Thread FM33
In my case the screen stayed black with a few color spots and it happens only
with X.org
By clicking directly on "install ubuntu", I could install and it booted fine. I
noticed performance issues and tried X.org session and got the display bug
again. While I had selected "Auto logon", I had to use recovery mode to get
back on wayland with :
sudo nano /etc/gdm3/custom.conf
and edit WaylandEnable=
There is also a line for auto logon by the way.
Unfortunately, with wayland I'm experiencing frequent freezes and I am falling
back to Focal on this machine.
Edit : This is an intel machine (Celeron N3150)

Bug description:
  I started Ubuntu 22.04 from a live pen drive. Everything seems fine,

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1970110] Re: downloaded packages are removed just after installation

2022-04-24 Thread David Kalnischkies
apt 1.2~exp1 came with the follow NEWS entry:
  [ Automatic removal of debs after install ]
  After packages are successfully installed by apt(8),
  the corresponding .deb package files will be
  removed from the /var/cache/apt/archives cache directory.

  This can be changed by setting the apt configuration option
"Binary::apt::APT::Keep-Downloaded-Packages" to "true". E.g:

  # echo 'Binary::apt::APT::Keep-Downloaded-Packages "true";' \
  > /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/01keep-debs

  Please note that the behavior of apt-get is unchanged. The
  downloaded debs will be kept in the cache directory after they
  are installed. To enable the behavior for other tools, you can set
  "APT::Keep-Downloaded-Packages" to false.

If you have disabled this feature you can do manual maintenance with the
`autoclean` and `clean` commands. More automatic maintenance can be
achieved with our cronjob, see `/usr/lib/apt/apt.systemd.daily`for
details, which can e.g. be configured to remove files after a few days
as you seem to prefer here.

As this default behavior is a deliberate choice and there are various
options to change this I am closing this report as not a bug.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1970107] [NEW] Xorg crash / Graphics Issue

2022-04-24 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I am using a wayland display manager, an internal graphics / Dedicated
Graphics laptop where the HDMI is controlled by the dedicated graphics.
Currently, with proprietary drivers on ubuntu 22.04

When I connect a display to the hdmi it only shows a white screen, when
I try to change the projection to mirror, or external only, it crashes
and goes back onto the logon screen. I currently cannot cast at all to a
monitor. The monitor I am trying to connect is a 4k and my laptop screen
is 1080p if that makes a difference. I am sure I am not the only one who
uses this feature, but because I have a mixture of internal and
dedicated control, it may have more an issue.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1969305] Re: Export XDG_CONFIG_HOME and XDG_DATA_HOME as well

2022-04-24 Thread Akbarkhon Variskhanov
It's one of the shell scripts in
https://git.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/tree/debian/local/Xsession.d,
which is then installed to /etc/X11/Xsession.d

The most appropriate would be 60x11-common_xdg_path, where CONFIG and
DATA dirs are exported from.

I'm on Xubuntu 20.04 but I checked the devel branch.

  Export XDG_CONFIG_HOME and XDG_DATA_HOME as well

Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  These base directories should also be included to make scripting
  easier.

  Their default values should be set as per XDG base-dir spec, i.e.:

  XDG_CONFIG_HOME="$HOME/.config"
  XDG_DATA_HOME="$HOME/.local/share"

Title:
  alsamixer: volume controls are assigned to wrong channels

Status in alsa-utils package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  I have tested the alsamixer with 2 different 8ch usb sound cards (UAC2
  compatible) and the assignment of the volume controls to the
  respective channel is partly wrong on both cards. The volume control
  for rear changes the volume of the center and subwoofer/LFE and the
  volume control for "Center" and "Woofer" changes the volume of the
  rear speakers.

  According to the usb audio class 2 specification, chapter "4.1 Audio Channel
Cluster Descriptor", the volume controls index must be (for a 8ch sound card):
  1 = FL
  2 = FR
  3 = C
  4 = LFE
  5 = RL
  6 = RR
  7 = SL
  8 = SR

  The current implementation as following assignment:
  1 = FL
  2 = FR
  3 = RL
  4 = RR
  5 = C
  6 = LFE
  7 = SL
  8 = SR

  Unfortunately, I can not judge whether this is a problem in the
  program or driver (audio usb).

  If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.

Bug description:
  It's only confusing labeling: The master or main volume of a 8ch usb
