Status in Ubuntu UX:

Status in unity8 package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:

  This problem is with the M10 Ubuntu tablet. When I have it in the so
  called desktop mode and try to answer an email, the on screen keyboard
  covers nearly the half of the screen high (which IMHO is to much, others do
not
  agree), but more problematic is, that I can't scroll the buffer of Dekko
  more up to see the cursor and the text while writing, when I put it
  below the last line of the message I'm replying to. See the two attached
  screens.

  And I do not like top posting, i.e. do not come up with this hint :-)

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1451728] Re: [master] kde-config-telepathy-accounts package install error

2016-05-02 Thread Alberto Mardegan
Hi Scarlett, the packages failed to build because the
"upstream_enforce_accounts-glib_version.patch" patch won't work without
this other commit (which upstream added later):
http://quickgit.kde.org/?p=kaccounts-
integration.git&a=commitdiff&h=abb50d9263941770212cab8f57b8c2a23e58d351

My advice, however, is to drop the "upstream_enforce_accounts-
glib_version.patch" altogether, and instead bump the libaccounts-glb-dev
version in the debian/control file to ">= 1.21". This has the same
effect, but is less risky.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1573470] Re: BQ M10 tablet. Libreoffice Impress display wrong colors

2016-05-02 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Minor success. I've made a test available that you can use to replicate the bug
using a desktop:
https://git.launchpad.net/~xmir-team/xorg-server/+git/xmir/commit/?id=637f0971b191c9fbdc459f3fdb7ba5bc479b84be

So this shows the problem is triggered by the priority order of
supported pixel formats the Android platform returns. Mir's Android
platform is returning the correct values in the correct order, but it's
different to desktops, and that's enough to trigger this bug in Xorg.

It remains to be seen if the problem is an issue in Xorg that's always
been there, or just something that Xmir is failing to initialize
correctly.

Mir's Android graphics platform unfortunately does not support the same
pixel formats as desktop that would avoid this bug. However adding
ShmBuffer support to the Android platform would allow it to support all
such pixel formats (and solve other bugs like the corruption issues).

Daniel, i have an Asus S10-3t netbook lying around, that according to
wikipedia has a Intel Atom N470 processor which would be a pineview?

If you want me to try some stuff I can do. If you would rather have some
form of ssh access i guess we could also arrange it.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1528109] Re: [regression] Cursor mostly does not move at all in response to slow mouse movement, but then sometimes jumps

2016-05-02 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Seems the Mir fix is all we needed. Feels much better with Mir 0.22 on
krillin rc-proposed.

  Xorg and Mir 0.17 do not have this problem.

  I was wondering : Why it isn't possible to disable data from the
  network indicator ? Probably with a switch button that offer the
  choice between no data or data activated (with the last data activated
  state (2g only or 2G,3G,4G).

  Why this ? Because it's the first setting to change to save battery,
  and probably one of the most used (I asked around me, everyone agreed
  they would prefer that over Wi-Fi if only one was possible).

  I think it's stupid to go to the settings app for the most common
  action (and very frustrating). Of course, this also apply for the
  battery setting page (that already contain Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth and
  brightness settings).

  I asked that on the phone ML, I've been invited to file a wishlist bug
  there to "help" designers with next iteration of network indicator. So
  here it is !

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1556795] Re: Mouse wheel scrolling keeps going inertially (past the location I want to scroll to)

2016-05-02 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Nope, Mir 0.22 on the phone didn't change this bug.

In other news, it appears the excessive inertial scrolling is app-
specific. In the dash it scrolls to the top/bottom instantly on the
slightest wheel movement. In System Settings however (main panel), wheel
scrolling is better behaved and doesn't scroll anywhere near as far.
Possibly still a bit too fast though.

  This doesn't seem like a major issue, but it feels like the same kind
  of usability problem I have seen in Pocket Desktop where the web
  browser scrolls too far using two fingers on the phone (which I
  suspect is another simulated mouse wheel scroll :P). And in the web
  browser, not being able to scroll to the location you want is very
  frustrating.

  it with strace and lsof and saw the app was searching through all the
  100.000 files (OSM tiles) on my SD card. While the SD card managment app
  supports placing a file there with the name '.nomedia' so the SD Card
  app ignores all files and dirs below:

  $ ls -la /media/phablet/4BDC-71D9/Maps

  $ find /media/phablet/4BDC-71D9/Maps/osm | wc -l

  it seems that the gallery-app does not honor this file '.nomedia'.

  Any idea for a workaround in the gallery-app?

  I see several similar bugs posted here, but none of them match this exactly.

  The Today scope is unable to scroll back to the top where the day is
  shown. I can reproduce this by doing the following.

  1. Start the phone
  2. Drag and release to update Today scope
  3. Quickly scroll down to bottom of Today scope and swipe to the next scope
(App scope) before the update is finished.
  4. Swipe back to Today scope.

  Now the Today scope will be unable to scroll to the top. I have to
  reboot the phone to get the Today scope working again.

  Also, when Today scope is stuck, open an app and long swipe right to
  go back to Today scope, this will make it look messed up until I click
  it once and it will snap back to being stuck in the lower half again.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1553475] Re: Preview::test_ComboEnsureVisible unstable

Title:
  Preview::test_ComboEnsureVisible unstable

Status in unity8 package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  The test ensuring that expanded combo in the preview is fully visible
  is unstable still.

  I was able to reproduce locally with:

  $ while parallel -i -j10 make -C builddir testPreview -- 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
  8 9 0; do :; done

  See attached a screenshot of the window when it fails, you can see
  that indeed the view didn't scroll as far down as it should have.

  This seems like a Qt problem since we're simply calling
  ListView::positionViewAtIndex(index, ListView.Contain) on it.

  Or, maybe it's the fact that the combo is still growing when the list
  tries to position it?

  Collapsed/Expandable scopes show a label "See more" and expanded

  "Show more" and "Show less". The user is instructing the phone to show
  more entries, it's not that the phone sees them.

  I only really noticed with the german translation "Mehr sehen" which
  seems really uncommon in user interfaces, but after consulting with a
  native english speaker we seem to agree that the issue is the actual
  string, not the translation.

  -- UX Comment ---

  Desired solution: please change the current label from 'See all/See

  Currently you can open another app, and copy text from it if it
  supports copying, then paste it into the text field. But we have a
  nice ContentHub service that supports sharing chunks of text, and it
  would streamline the user experience if we could enable this by
  default for text inputs.

  Bonus points if we could send some context along with the import

  the ContentHub API supports that.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1446212] Re: Support installing localization data from click packages

Title:
  Support installing localization data from click packages

Status in apparmor-easyprof-ubuntu package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed
Status in ubuntu-ui-toolkit package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  It would be nice if it were possible to add support to a new language/locale
by just installing a click package.
  This would have several benefits:
  1) People could easily add support for non officially supported languages
  2) Languages would be updated independently from the system image
  3) Some space could be freed from the image, if some languages get moved to
click packages

  I'm entering this bug against ubuntu-ui-toolkit, because I guess it
  would need some change to get the correct path where translations are
  installed (it now calls bindtextdomain with /usr/share/locale, while
  it should fallback to ~/.local/share/locale/ if the language does not
  exist in the system path), but there surely are other projects that
  would need to be changed.

  For sure, we would need a click hook to move the translations in
  ~/.local/share/locale/, as well as changes to the apparmor policy to
  read from that directory.

Status in ubuntu-ui-toolkit package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  Very recently kalikiana added support for breadcrumb navigation to the
  UI Toolkit API docs:

  http://developer.ubuntu.com/api/devel/ubuntu-13.10/qml/ui-toolkit
  /overview-ubuntu-sdk.html

  Some of this involved adding fixes and workarounds to the generated
  qdocs to:

  - Add the top level navigation breadcrumb to the breadcrumbs list
  - Reverse the order in which breadcrumbs are shown (qdoc outputs them in the
wrong order)

  The layouting documentation needs these fixes added too:

  http://developer.ubuntu.com/api/devel/ubuntu-13.10/qml/ui-toolkit
  /ubuntu-layouts.html

  - Notice the missing breadcrumb to go back to the main "Ubuntu User Interface
Toolkit" page.
- Current: "Layouts - Terminology > Layouts - Introduction"
- Expected: "Ubuntu User Interface Toolkit > Layouts - Introduction"
  - Notice the next section appearing as the first breadcrumb ("Layouts -
Terminology") instead of the parent (top) page ""Ubuntu User Interface Toolkit"

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1573215] Re: Disable ListItem divider for horizontal ListViews.

Current work-around:

divider.visible: false

ListItem is already aware of a ListView around it, so maybe it should
pick up the orientation and hide the divider or place it on the trailing
side. This should be double-checked with design.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1577351] [NEW] OptionSelector: selectedIndex should be updated before onTriggered and onDelegateClicked

2016-05-02 Thread Antti Kaijanmäki
Public bug reported:

OptionSelector {
onSelectedIndexChanged: {
console.log("SelectedIndex Changed")
}
onTriggered:  {
console.log("On Triggered")
}
onDelegateClicked: {
console.log("Delegate Clicked: " + index)
}

With this example we see that onTriggered and onDelegateClicked are being fired
before selectedIndex has been updated. This makes the onTriggered quite
useless, as the important info of which is the selectedIndex is not there yet.
onDelegateClicked suffers from the same problem, although it's index argument
allows to workaround this bug.

IMHO having the selectedIndex updated before triggering these signals is
a justifiable and sane behavior.

Title:
  Dialog freezes entire app if its caller is killed before the dialog is
  killed

Status in ubuntu-ui-toolkit package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  I have noticed that the SDK Dialog has the potential to freeze the app
  i.e prevent any further user input when the Page which houses the
  Dialog is killed before the dialog or for some other reason that I am
  unable to understand.

  I have created a sample app that you can find at
  https://code.launchpad.net/~nik90/+junk/freezebug. The sample app is
  quite explanatory on how to reproduce the bug.

  Please do note, that the app does not crash. It just doesn't accept
  any further input.

  When this happens, I see the following console error, QQmlExpression:
  Attempted to evaluate an expression in an invalid context

  The "units" context property has no idea about which screen it is on,

  We're landing a workaround for this for use in unity8 (the only case
  supported today where a single app has multiple windows on different
  screens).

  Long-term we might need UITK 2.0 to fix this proper.

  The reason I think is because the vibration mechanism runs for
  hundreds of milliseconds. Whereas visual and aural feedback is in the
  order of tens of milliseconds. So vibration feedback makes the phone
  feel much more laggy. Please turn it off by default.

Bug description:

  void ListViewProxy::setKeyNavigationForListView(bool value)

  if (listItem) {
  UCListItemPrivate::get(listItem)->setListViewKeyNavigation(value);
  listItem->update();

  We can at least add code to StyledItem (and update ListViewProxy) to
  make it work for that as well. I don't know if there can be a generic
  solution for Items as well.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1556602] Re: LVM in 16.04 cannot mount LVM Cached Volumes created in 15.10

2016-05-02 Thread knz
The suggested workaround in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lvm2/+bug/1556602/comments/8
did not work for me. What did work however was to build a modified lvm2
package using the aforementioned patch, then boot from external media,
install the modified lvm2 on the externally booted ubuntu, then mount
the system's main fs using the modified lvm, then install the modified
lvm2 again this time on the system's fs using chroot.

This process is cumbersome and I wish ubuntu would include this patch by
default.

  I did a bit of googling and found a similar report for upgrades from
  Fedora 21 to Fedora 23. See
  https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1282188.

  I'll annotate this bug with the LVM version from my existing Debian
  based configuration in a few minutes.

  This is a show-stopper for me because I use LVM caching on both of my
  PCs. It's a great way to marry a 256 GB SSD with a 2 TB hard drive. I
  keep the OS and some key partitions on the SSD and then use the rest
  of the SSD to cache the hard drive.

  --
  SRU INFORMATION
  ===
  Fix: https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/apt/apt.git/commit/?id=c75e60eb (applied
in Xenial last week)

  Test case:
   - Install clean wily amd64 desktop + install libgcrypt20:i386
   - change apt sources to xenial, apt-get dist-upgrade
   - with current apt, upgrade will often fail because systemd expects a
configure libgcrypt20, or util-linux expects a configured libudev1 or similar,
but these packages aren't configured.
   - with the fixed apt, the upgrade should run smoothly.

  Regression potential: Any bug here might potentially break package
  installation or upgrades completely. That said, the fix is quite
  obvious and has been in production in xenial for a week. Testing this
  SRU should include several dist-upgrades as well as some normal
  package installs in trusty/wily.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1565236] Re: AltGr not working on external keyboards

2016-05-02 Thread Oliver Grawert
i created http://paste.ubuntu.com/16187883/ that at least gives you the
AltGr keys in the terminal app (on a german kbd, other langs might have
different needs indeed).

save it as
/home/phablet/.config/com.ubuntu.terminal/Layouts/AltGrKeys.json on your
device and you will have the keys in terminals "extra keys" selection.

I agree. Thanks, Alexey. We need to expose the UI for this in System
Settings as it is described in the spec [1], but the feature you're
talking about needs to be implemented in Mir.

  Ubuntu Touch OTA 10.1 on BQ Aquaris M10 FHD

  Currently, there is no way (or I could not find one) to switch
  keyboard layout, when external keyboard is connected to the device.
  Tried possible "default" combinations like: Alt+Shift, Ctrl+Shift,
  Ctrl+Space, without luck.

  With the help of PaulfraaOSAA on #ubuntu-touch figured out how it is possible
too switch (workaround):
  One keeps settings with external keyboard layouts open.
  When one needs to switch layout of external keyboard, [s]he "just"
  - switches to layout settings window
  - moves needed layout to top of the list
  - switches back to application window and continues typing...

  This is... Well... Very very far from usable, especially for non-latin
  alphabet based languages, like Russian. Please introduce possibility
  to configure layout switcher and use keyboard to switch layouts.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1513020] Re: [Wishlist] DLNA/Miracast/other WiFi support

2016-05-02 Thread Simon Fels
The feature itself is there now. What will follow is support for new
devices, performance improvements and additional features like audio
support.

That FlymeOS 5 will be available for the MX 4 doesn't mean anything for
the version running Ubuntu which will be still based on an BSP with
Android 4.x and that will not changed.

Also its not necessary to change to Android 5.x as pointed out with

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1577001] Re: Installing lxd leaves /var/lib/lxd/unix.socket with wrong group ownership

2016-05-02 Thread Martin Pitt
I created https://github.com/systemd/systemd/issues/3171 for changing
the socket group on reload with an absent unit. This will not be an
issue any more when lxd's prerm stops `lxd.socket` on removal, but (1)
this sounds worth fixing anyway, and (2) I have some feeling that the
above reproducer is not the complete story here yet. Waiting on Dan's
answer for that.

Bug description:
  On ubuntu 16.04, doing
sudo apt-get install lxd
  sometimes leaves the file
/var/lib/lxd/unix.socket
  with group root, but it should have group lxd. Doing
sudo systemctl restart lxd.socket
  rescues the file and gives it the right group ownership.

  Adding logging to the package's postinst shows that, if
/var/lib/lxd/unix.socket did not already exist, it is created by the line
   deb-systemd-helper enable lxd.service
  and with the wrong group permissions.
  If the socket already existed with the correct group ownership that command
breaks the permissions and sets it to be group root.

  It's about 90% repeatable on one machine here (with an SSD main disk).

Bug description:
  In a horizontal ListView, the divider at the bottom of a ListItem is not
needed. Perhaps a vertical divider instead?
  Also, it looks weird when all ListItems in the horizontal list have a divider
at the bottom, except the last one.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 715141] Re: Default NTP servers do not have AAAA records

2016-05-02 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
Hi James,
thanks for the info, you are right the whois to the IP's I get are not owned by
Canonical.

But I wonder who set this up then - I'd have expected that we followed this
somewhen back in time to add the four Ubuntu servers to the pool:
http://www.pool.ntp.org/en/join.html
And I thought for that we might have got that "branded" subdomain for DNS
resolution by the pool in exchange.
And also I and hoped that this way we would have some control about it.

The same observation as before (only 2.xxx.pool.ntp.org has ipv6) is also true
for example for 2.debian.pool.ntp.org.
So it appears that this seems to be a general thing =>
 https://news.ntppool.org/2013/06/ipv6-monitoring-problems-for-german-servers/
 http://stefanchrist.eu/blog/2015_01_12/www.pool.ntp.org%20and%20IPv6.xhtml
 https://news.ntppool.org/2011/06/continuing-ipv6-deployment/

I wonder if that means we are "good" now these days regarding the default
config that we package.
So if any of the reporters with a real ipv6 only system and a native ipv6 only
external connection could give that a verification that would be great.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1081976] Re: When prompted to create a Google account after visiting GMail, login form is empty

This is no longer valid: the account capture feature is no longer
present.

Title:
  When prompted to create a Google account after visiting GMail, login
  form is empty

Status in libsignon-glib package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  When the capture of browser credentials is enabled (this feature is
  provided by the xul-ext-webaccounts package) and the user visits for
  the first time gmail.com and accepts the WebApps integration, the
  Online Accounts panel pops up and prompts the user to enter his Google
  credentials.

  However, both the username and password fields are empty. While for
  the password field it's a design decision (due to possible
  legal/political issues), not provising even the username leads to a
  bad user experience. By providing the username prefilled in the form,
  it's more clear what we are expecting from the user, and we avoid
  having the user attempting to login with a different account.

  The root of this bug is:
  http://code.google.com/p/accounts-sso/issues/detail?id=132

  which could also have some other serious implications besides this
  one.

  For all the above, I suggest this fix to be integrated into Ubuntu 12.10 as
an SRU. The risk of regressions is minimal, because the package is well covered
with unit tests and the proposed code change only inverts the order in which a
couple of actions are performed -- no code is added or removed.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1574365] Re: Ubuntu Touch needs way to switch external keyboard layout

Switching keymaps is possible with the following shortcuts:

Super+Space -> Next keyboard layout
Super+Shift+Space -> Previous keyboard layout
