[Touch-packages] [Bug 1534191] Re: video replay should resume after user confirms high volume

2016-01-19 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
I don't understand what this has to do with indicator-sound. Wouldn't
exactly the same problem exist if we had no sound indicator at all? I
gave my opinion on what the media player should do in bug 1504065, but
I'm not involved with the design of that app.

  pauses the video, when you click on yes is there a way we can continue

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1478222] Re: Ubuntu Touch forgets WiFi settings after first connection. EDUROAM network WPA & WPA2 Enterprise

2016-01-19 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
Huh, I think this is actually my fault. When I designed the
authentication controls for the various wi-fi authentication types, I
included a "Remember password" checkbox for some of them (TTLS, FAST,
PEAP) but not others (WPA Personal, TLS, LEAP, WEP). I don't know why I
did that.

So unless anyone can figure out what I knew then that I don't know now,
:-) I'll remove all those "Remember password" checkboxes from the
design. Like muyiwa says, there seems to be little point in remembering
all the authentication details for the network *except* for the
password.

Status in indicator-network package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Using WPA & WPA2 Enterprise I connected to the EDUROAM WiFi network with
Ubuntu Touch. This works fine.
  However, when leaving the WiFi range and coming back, Ubuntu Touch will not
be able to connect again. It asks again for the password, but the correct
password does not work anymore.

  The only (annoying) workaround is to delete "EDUROAM" network from
  "previous networks" in the WiFi setting and then apply all setting
  again. The WiFi access will work then until one leaves the WiFi range
  again.

  Additional info:
  The EDUROAM WiFi network is a unified WiFi network to get access almost any
European University. Default set-up is described here:
http://www.urz.uni-heidelberg.de/zugang/eduroam/linux_ubuntu.html

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1440608] Re: /etc/kernel/postinst.d/apt-auto-removal wants to remove all kernels except the latest one

2016-01-19 Thread Jarno Suni
This seems to work for me. I changed some things based on feedback from
Robert Euhus (and a little bit more). I don't see a problem in updating
the kernel list in case a linux-image-extra package is being removed;
the list does not change then, but this updates also, when a linux-image
package is being removed, when it may be necessary to update the list.

  requests to be rebooted and at that time the /etc/apt/apt.conf.d
  /01autoremove-kernels file lists the 3.19.0-12-generic and

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1535635] [NEW] NetworkManager does not really ignore devices, disturbing udev

2016-01-19 Thread Hadmut Danisch
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I'm just trying to configure an ubuntu machine to work as a network
controller (dhcp, dns,...) for several virtual and physical machines,
using a linux bridge as a virtual network, and trying to automatically
add USB-Ethernet-Devices to the bridge through udev.

Unfortunately my udev rules fail since Network Manager does rename new
Ethernet devices *before* udev runs, e.g.

eth0 to enxe80006d8

for my USB ethernet device. Thus, many regular udev rules fail since
they use the device name the kernel passes (=eth0), but can't find that
device for commands (since it changed it's name).

Instructing NetworkManager to ignore ifup-configured devices does not
help, since NetworkManager renames the devices and thus does not apply
/etc/network/interfaces rules for eth0.

Even worse: Even when listing the particular mac address in
/etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf to be ignored, NM ignores it in
the way that it does not configure it, but still renames it.

Is there any other way to make NetworkManager completely keep its dirty
fingers away from Network Devices except for completely killing it?

  boot-time race between /etc/network/if-up.d/ntpdate and
  "/etc/init.d/ntp start"

Status in ntp package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released
Status in ntp source package in Precise:
  In Progress
Status in ntp source package in Trusty:
  In Progress

Bug description:
  [Impact]
  * Hardware clocks are not stepped at boot, which can prevent NTP from ever
syncing the clock.
Incorrect clocks can cause serious issues in distributed systems.

  * Upstream originally added a lock file to eliminate a race between the ntp
service (which keeps the clock synchronized during normal operation) and
ntpdate (which is used to step the clock by large intervals at boot time).
That change had a flaw which introduced a deadlock. An Ubuntu patch was
applied which broke the locking mechanism entirely, reintroducing the race
condition.

  * This change undoes the Ubuntu patch and fixes the deadlock by unlocking
before attempting to start the ntp service.

  [Test Case]

  * There are two bugs: The race, and the deadlock. To reproduce the race more
consistently:
- add 'sleep 30' to '/etc/network/if-up.d/ntpdate' on the line preceding
  '/usr/sbin/ntpdate-debian -s $OPTS 2>/dev/null || :', and comment out
  'invoke-rc.d --quiet $service stop >/dev/null 2>&1 || true'. This will
  reproduce the case where the ntp service starts between the stop command
  and the ntpdate command.
  The result will be that the ntpdate command fails. There will be a
  message in syslog like:
'ntpdate[17660]: the NTP socket is in use, exiting'
- Reintroducing the lock brings back the deadlock issue. Both the ntpdate
  if-up.d script and the ntp init script check the lock file, but the
  ntpdate script attempted to start the ntp init script before unlocking
  the lock. Moving the unlock before the init script invocation fixes
  the deadlock. The original deadlock behavior is described here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ntp/+bug/246203

  [Regression Potential]

  * Low. Out-of-sync clocks could be changed a large amount at boot time, but
only for machines with static IP's. The clock is only likely to be in this
state if the clock was very skewed at boot time, which is also unlikely
since NTP usually keeps the software clock in sync during operation and
the hardware clock is updated at shutdown.

  With a bit of manual work, it is possible to configure a system where

  I'm experimenting with Vivid Vervet on a virtual machine and tried a
  new LVM feature, lvmcache. I made a cache for the root file system,
  rebuilt the initrd and rebooted the VM.

  At boot time, the system failed to activate the root LV. After some
  investigation, I found out, it's because the initrd is missing some
  essential stuff needed for activating a cached LV.

  The initrd was missing the dm-cache module. I regenerated the initrd
  with explicitly listing dm-cache in /etc/initramfs-tools/modules, but
  the system still can't boot up, because now it is missing the
  /usr/sbin/cache_check utility.

  As SSDs are becoming more and more common, I think it will be common
  to use them as cache for root file systems, thus it is mandatory to
  make sure that an initrd can mount an lvmcached root device when
  necessary, preferably without /etc/initramfs-tools/modules and other
  manual initrd hacking.

  to be a temporary workaround and I'll get the new 4.2.0 kernel work
  with Wily in days.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1535648] [NEW] ifquery crashing

2016-01-19 Thread Hadmut Danisch
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I'm just doing some tests where to use an ubuntu machine as a router and
thus plugging in an USB Ethernet devices as it's second ethernet
interfaces.

Unfortunately I can't keep that damned Network manager from renaming the
device (i.e. from eth0 to enxe80006d8), even if I tell NM to ignore
the device. Since this happens before udev, it confuses several udev
scripts).

In context of this problem I found lots of messages in /var/log/syslog

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1535646] [NEW] BLUETOOTH MOUSE: with a mouse connected lock the device and leave for some time when you return the mouse is in sleep mode and the phone is in normal not windowed

2016-01-19 Thread Dave Morley
Public bug reported:

STEPS:
1. Flash a device
2. Connect a bluetooth mouse
3. Let the device sleep
4. Leave it for a couple of minutes
5. Wake the device do not move the mouse
6. Device is in phone mode
7. UNlock the device and move the mouse
8. Device after 30+ seconds flips back to windowed mode

EXPECTED:
When a mouse is connected I expect the device to always be in windows mode
regardless of if the mouse is in sleep mode

ACTUAL:
When the mouse is in sleep mode it is like it is disconnected and the windowed
mode is no longer active.

Public bug reported:

STEPS:

2. Connect a bluetooth mouse
3. Open the web browser (It should be in windowed mode)
4. Goto ubuntu.com and now leave the device and watch the window

Fullscreen and then back to windowed mode again

EXPECTED:
I expect the device to remain in windowed mode as long as the mouse is connected

Seems to be straightforward , and works correctly if I call ifup vlan0 from
the command line.

However, the bridge interface is not created within the boot process. I
have to call it manually every time.

Seems to be related to #1535648 ifquery/ifup crashing, which happens
even without the usb device mentioned there and might be the reason,
i.e. crash when trying to create this interface.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1535666] [NEW] Downloading files fails on non-English systems

2016-01-19 Thread Olivier Tilloy
Public bug reported:

On my desktop setup (French locale), the XDG download folder is named
"Téléchargements". The apparmor policy for webbrowser-app specifically
requests read/write access to $HOME/Downloads/, which works only on
systems where the downloads folder is named "Downloads".

When downloading a file in the browser, I’m seeing the following error
in the console:

Failed moving file from "/home/osomon/.local/share/ubuntu-download-
manager/webbrowser-app/Downloads/example.pdf" to
"/home/osomon/Téléchargements/example.pdf"

I wonder if apparmor exposes a way to specify XDG folders in policies.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1535297] Re: Unity8 crashes on session logout on desktop

using lsof I noticed that libprotobuf was being loaded by

After inspection with ldd, I found out that
- unity8 doesn't explicitly load libprotobuf
- /usr/bin/telephony-service* (-handler, -indicator, -approver) all link to
libprotobuf.so.9

Does that help?

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1535670] Re: Camera selection doesn't work: it always returns the front camera

2016-01-19 Thread David Barth
It seems there is a bug in that commit :
https://git.launchpad.net/~libhybris-maintainers/libhybris/+git/libhybris/commit/?id=9baee354fe513020aa2197b0b0769dd06a2585bc

+   if (ci.facing != camera_type)
+   continue;
+
+   return android_camera_connect_by_id(camera_id, listener);

The continue statement will branch to the end of the loop, on the return
line, as opposed to skipping to the next loop iteration.

Huh? The continue skips to the end of the loop body, causing it to start
the next iteration. The return line is not executed.

I've tested this on my device, and I can switch between both cameras in
the browser. There is a bug in the browser though - it doesn't
initialize the default camera in Oxide until you've changed the setting
in the settings page.

And that pretty GUI is from an entirely separate package than package

Please follow your own suggestion. I already explained how cron works:
via crontabs, ie plaintext files in a specific directory. If a client
program (be it from Gnome, KDE, or whatever) uses this interface
incorrectly, then it is up to the client program to fix this. Hence why
I said "you'll have to report it against Gnome".

If you had read crontab(5) as I suggested, then you would know that to
modify the $PATH of a job, one must specify a PATH variable in the
crontab file. You seem to expect Gnome Schedule to do this for you (when
it presumably generates a crontab), but evidently it isn't doing it.
That is clearly not a problem in cron, but in Gnome Schedule.

I agree that the mode in which cron operates is antiquated.
Nevertheless, it is mandated by POSIX:

http://pubs.opengroup.org/onlinepubs/9699919799/utilities/crontab.html

More powerful job schedulers exist, but the intention behind cron is to
provide a simple, consistent, and ever-present interface in
POSIX-compliant environments.

Regards,
Christian

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1440608] Re: /etc/kernel/postinst.d/apt-auto-removal wants to remove all kernels except the latest one

2016-01-19 Thread Jarno Suni
Oh, now I remember why I added "xargs apt-mark showauto" in the pipe in
the first script attached to comment #22: if you manually add some newer
kernels for e.g. testing something, you may not want system to
automatically remove the latest kernels available from the usual Ubuntu
repository, and consequently loose a meta package such as linux-image-
generic that enables kernel updates. In case user has installed an LTS
Enablement Stack, automatic removal should keep the meta kernel package
for that.

** Attachment added: "/etc/kernel/postinst.d/apt-auto-removal (version 4 from
Jarno Suni)"

  After installing a 3rd kernel currently 3.19.0-12-generic, the
  /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/01autoremove-kernels file looks normal listing the
  3.19.0-11-generic and 3.19.0-12-generic with 3.19.0-10-generic listed
  to be autoremoved. But once autoremove is completed the machine
  requests to be rebooted and at that time the /etc/apt/apt.conf.d
  /01autoremove-kernels file lists the 3.19.0-12-generic and
  3.19.0-10-generic kernels. So upon rebooting the 3.19.0-11-generic is
  requested to be autoremoved leaving only one kernel the latest one
  3.19.0-12-generic.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1535714] [NEW] Xorg freeze

2016-01-19 Thread Daniel Walton
Public bug reported:

randomly system will freeze. Freeze in that screen will be blank and
system will not accept keyboard commands to change to a terminal or to
chagne the caps lock light.

Can ssh into the laptop while its "frozen". The syslog/journal shows a
kenel stacktrace (below)

Seems more common after suspending.

don't recall it happening with 15.04. If it did start with 15.04 it
would of been with the latter kernels.

Seems similar to:

Bug description:
  We recently added a QtMultimedia video capture backend to Oxide so
  that we can make video capture for WebRTC work on the phone. However,
  whilst this works fine on desktop, no cameras are detected on the
  phone because QCamera::availableDevices() returns nothing.

  It seems that this functionality hasn't been implemented in qtubuntu-
  camera (http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~phablet-team/qtubuntu-
  camera/trunk/view/head:/src/aalcameraserviceplugin.cpp#L43).

  Chromium does depend on the ability to enumerate devices, and there's
  a public facing API for this as well (https://developer.mozilla.org
  /en-US/docs/Web/API/MediaDevices).

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1015819] Re: sb_sasl_generic_pkt_length: received illegal packet length when using ldapsearch and sasl with ssl or tls

2016-01-19 Thread Leif Thuresson
The workaround proposed by Johnny Westerlund on 2015-05-06
works in cyrus-sasl-2.1.23 but not in the latest version 2.1.26.

Looks like it is this commit that cause the workaround to stop working.

  Using sasl binding only works with ldapsearch when not using ssl or
  tls. If either ssl or tls is used I see this ouput from -d 1 from
  ldapsearch:

  sb_sasl_generic_pkt_length: received illegal packet length of 813957120 bytes
  sasl_generic_read: want=16, got=16

  [Impact]
   * Some -dev packages like ubuntu-sdk and libglew-dev cannot be installed
when the lts-utopic stack is used.

  [Test Case]
   * Install the lts-utopic stack.
   * apt-get install ubuntu-sdk
   * Good: you get a whole list of packages to install.
   * Bad: apt-get install fails like pasted in the original bug report.
   * Also test the same without the lts-utopic stack, to make sure there are no
regressions.

  [Regression Potential]
   * Low, this has been done for precise before, and mesa packaging has to be
updated for every LTS release. Unfortunately there are no alternatives. :(

  [Other Info]
   * There's probably an apt bug in here too. Nudging the resolver by
specifying libgl1-mesa-dev-lts-utopic and libgles2-mesa-dev-lts-utopic works,
but I didn't find a good way to express this in the depends, and that would
have to be done for every package.

  [Original bug report]
  Not the first, likely not the last devel to not be installable in 14.04.2 or
any mesa-lts-utopic install
  Another one is libglew-dev

[Touch-packages] [Bug 467300] Re: motd-legal files don't respect XDG_CACHE_HOME

2016-01-19 Thread John Drinkwater
Reasons to want this ‘configurable’ is to match the rest of the system, as this
is one of the few remaining binaries that writes into ~/.cache
john@joran ~ ❯ tree .cache
.cache
├── motd.legal-displayed
└── upstart

As everything else already behaves:
john@joran ~ ❯ set | grep XDG_.*_HOME
XDG_CACHE_HOME=/home/john/settings/cache
XDG_CONFIG_HOME=/home/john/settings/config
XDG_DATA_HOME=/home/john/settings/data
XDG_STATE_HOME=/home/john/settings/state
john@joran ~ ❯ tree $XDG_CONFIG_HOME | wc
   2525   11435  126830

Current solution is having this module not run instead.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1533681] Re: imported google calendar events sound when they shouldn't

Title:
  imported google calendar events sound when they shouldn't

Status in Canonical System Image:
  New
Status in Ubuntu Calendar App:
  New
Status in indicator-datetime package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  I use the calendar-app with my work google calendar. For that calendar
  I have alarms setup to automatically send an email 24 hours, 4 hours
  and 30 minutes before any event and I choose email as the reminder (as
  opposed to popup) so that I wouldn't be bombarded with reminders all
  day. Unfortunately the calendar app does not make a distinction
  between email and popup and every event with an email reminder gets
  imported as an event that gets an event notification on the phone with
  an alarm sound. I have a lot of events in my calendar and so my phone
  is constantly making noise at all times of the day. This is
  particularly annoying at night time since I might get a reminder as
  early as 3am or 4am, which wakes me up. Of course, I could use silent
  mode at night, but, like last night, I forgot and was awoken at 6am.
  Plus, I don't necessarily want the phone in silent mode-- I'd like to
  be able to hear if a phone call comes in since that is likely an
  emergency call I need to take.

  There are a lot of different bugs related to calendar event
  notifications and if some of them were fixed, it would ameliorate this
  bug. For example, I've been hoping for a setting to disable sounds for
  just the calendar (whether via the app or system settings) but
  otherwise get calendar notifications. Being able to change the alarm
  sound to 'None' would work too. TBH at this point I don't care which
  bug is fixed, I need to get this phone to stop sounding off
  constantly.

  WORKAROUND:
  1. download https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Silence.ogg to
/home/phablet
  2. use gsettings to adjust the sound:
  $ DISPLAY=:0.0 gsettings get com.canonical.indicator.datetime
calendar-default-sound
  '/usr/share/sounds/ubuntu/ringtones/Marimbach.ogg'
  $ DISPLAY=:0.0 gsettings set com.canonical.indicator.datetime
calendar-default-sound /home/phablet/Silence.ogg
  $ DISPLAY=:0.0 gsettings get com.canonical.indicator.datetime
calendar-default-sound
  '/home/phablet/Silence.ogg'

Status in indicator-datetime package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  Currently in ./src/wakeup-timer-mainloop.cpp
  the g_timeout_add_full function is used to call intervals:

  const auto now = m_clock->localtime();
  const auto difference_usec =
g_date_time_difference(m_wakeup_time.get(), now.get());
  const guint interval_msec = std::abs(difference_usec) / 1000u;
  g_debug("%s setting wakeup timer to kick at %s, which is in %zu
seconds",
  G_STRFUNC,
  m_wakeup_time.format("%F %T").c_str(),
  size_t{interval_msec/1000});

  m_timeout_tag = g_timeout_add_full(G_PRIORITY_HIGH,
 interval_msec,
 on_timeout,
 this,
 nullptr);
  More information:

https://developer.gnome.org/glib/stable/glib-The-Main-Event-Loop.html#g-timeout-add-full

  The grouping of timers to fire at the same time results in a more power and
CPU efficient behavior
  That's why I would recommend to use:
 g_timeout_add_seconds_full ()
  instead

  2. It's way easier to deal with situations like when the unity dash is
opened, and icons should turn white: you just need to set the white color and
it'll be recolored.

  This may depend on bug 599448.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1529499] Re: Allow fast switching between timezones

2016-01-19 Thread Charles Kerr
This is possible in the desktop form of indicator-datetime but is
currently not in the design for the phone form, likely due to lack of
space.

It's probably a Design question on how this might be improved, on the
phone, either via the indicator or in system settings, so reassigning to
mpt for feedback.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1535666] Re: Downloading files fails on non-English systems

2016-01-19 Thread Jamie Strandboge
For XDG translatable user dirs and apparmor policy, please see
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apparmor/+bug/1061693. This
only deals with traditional desktop policy though and not touch policy.
In terms of support on Touch, it was decided long ago (I can't seem to
find the thread, but I can keep looking if required) that we would not
support translatable XDG user dirs on the phone (note, they have been
problematic for other reasons). This decision was taken early on in the
Touch project (I believe seb128 was involved). AIUI, a future converged
experience would also not support the problematic translatable XDG user
dirs either.

Title:
  Downloading files fails on non-English systems

Status in webbrowser-app package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  On my desktop setup (French locale), the XDG download folder is named
  "Téléchargements". The apparmor policy for webbrowser-app specifically
  requests read/write access to $HOME/Downloads/, which works only on
  systems where the downloads folder is named "Downloads".

  When downloading a file in the browser, I’m seeing the following error
  in the console:

  Failed moving file from "/home/osomon/.local/share/ubuntu-download-
  manager/webbrowser-app/Downloads/example.pdf" to
  "/home/osomon/Téléchargements/example.pdf"

  I wonder if apparmor exposes a way to specify XDG folders in policies.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1535768] [NEW] pkexec tty hijacking via TIOCSTI ioctl

2016-01-19 Thread Federico Bento
Public bug reported:

When executing a program via "pkexec --user nonpriv program" the nonpriv
session can escape to the parent session by using the TIOCSTI ioctl to push
characters into the terminal's input buffer, allowing privilege escalation.
This issue has been fixed in "su" CVE-2005-4890 by calling setsid() and in
"sudo" by using the "use_pty" flag.

$ cat test.c
#include

int main()
{
char *cmd = "id\n";

ioctl(0, TIOCSTI, cmd++);
}

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1515821] Re: Recurring Evolution events not shown as coming events in clock's menu

2016-01-19 Thread Charles Kerr
A recurring event like this can clutter the calendar if there are no
other events in the calendar as well; however, I don't see any
discussion of this in the spec so I don't know if Design considered this
case. Reassigning to mpt.

  Emulator cursors stay in the top left preventing movement.

  As noted below F6 toggles the input mode.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1330960] Re: [REGRESSION 14.04] keyboard configuration systematically wrong after every boot

2016-01-19 Thread Teo
How many decades is it going to take to triage, let alone fix, this bug?

Still an issue in 15.10.

I'm confirming the bug despite it's my own because I have observed it on
at least two computers.

** Changed in: console-setup (Ubuntu)
   Status: New => Confirmed

** Description changed:

  I have a spanish keyboard correctly configured as a spanish keyboard.
  It's the only keyboard configuration I have.
  On the upper right corner of the screen there's an indicator that reads "Es",
and if I click it, "Spanish" is the only option and it is selected. All this is
as expected.

  This applies to both the laptop's built-in keyboard and an external usb
  keyboard that I always keep connected (together with an external screen)
  when my laptop is at home on my desktop.

- SINCE THE UPGRATE TO 14.04, every time I boot, both keyboards start
- behaving as if they were US english keyboards.
+ SINCE THE UPGRATE TO 14.04, every time I boot, both keyboards start behaving

+ [UPDATE: I think it's not systematically every time, more like randomly half
of the times]

  If I click on the Es indicator mentioned above, where "Spanish" already
  appears as selected, and I re-select it, it fixes the issue.

  Also, for the external keyboard, another workaround that works is to
  unplug and replug the keyboard. After that, the keyboard works as
  expected as a Spanish keyboard.

-

same machine until recently. It broke with some update, most probably with the
upgrade from 13.10 to 14.04.

  Issue: Phone appears to fail to receive OTA updates. Previously, I jumped
from (r15) to (r23) due to missing OTA updates. Currently, I see (r24) appears
to be released on 2015 Oct 16.
  Expected behavior: System Settings > System > Updates (or System Settings >
About this phone > Check for updates) reveals new image that I can release and
download.
  Actual behavior: Checking for updates... > Software is up to date

  See the comment regarding similar issues for large app installs.
  It seems if anything interrupts the transfer or if the connection is somewhat
slow the download performance degenerates then times out.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1535666] Re: Downloading files fails on non-English systems

2016-01-19 Thread Olivier Tilloy
I too remember that decision to not translate XDG folders for touch.
Not sure how well that will play with convergence though.

In any case, I had a look at the contents of /etc/apparmor.d/tunables
/xdg-user-dirs.d/site.local on my desktop, and it appears no XDG_*
variable is overridden there (all the lines in that file are commented
out). How is that supposed to work? Would referencing
"@{HOME}/@{XDG_DOWNLOAD_DIR}" work in an apparmor profile?

Title:
  Downloading files fails on non-English systems

Status in webbrowser-app package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  On my desktop setup (French locale), the XDG download folder is named
  "Téléchargements". The apparmor policy for webbrowser-app specifically
  requests read/write access to $HOME/Downloads/, which works only on
  systems where the downloads folder is named "Downloads".

  When downloading a file in the browser, I’m seeing the following error
  in the console:

  Failed moving file from "/home/osomon/.local/share/ubuntu-download-
  manager/webbrowser-app/Downloads/example.pdf" to
  "/home/osomon/Téléchargements/example.pdf"

  I wonder if apparmor exposes a way to specify XDG folders in policies.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1535447] [NEW] Intel Graphics 4K Screen Tearing

2016-01-19 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

On a fresh boot all works well, but after an indeterminate amount of
time the screen starts tearing badly, most noticeably as a permanent
vertical tear. Once this tearing starts, it affects everything (desktop,
etc) but is mostly visible in videos. The only way to get rid of the
tear is to reboot.

 I do not know where this tearing is occurring, compositor? graphics
driver?

Hardware, Intel NUC5i5RYK (integrated graphics), LG 31MU97 DCI 4K
monitor (4096x2160). Using a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI cable between the
NUC and monitor.

00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Broadwell-U
Integrated Graphics (rev 09)

Software, Kubuntu 15.04 I also see the same problem in 15.10, but the computer
I took the video of has 15.04 installed.
The screen resolution is set to 4096x2160.

In my syslog, I also see tons of these error messages (I dont know if they are
related to the tearing). The error message repeats multiple times, and then
stops.

[  668.879288] [drm:gen8_irq_handler [i915_bpo]] *ERROR* The master
control interrupt lied (SDE)!

I am hoping I can attach a video to this file which shows the tearing

  The gif I think causes thumbnailer to loop, Memory usage jump 4% each loop
until oom takes out the app but thumbnailer is still stuck in it's loop so
eventually the scopes are all taken out, At that point thumbnailer is stopped
and the system returns to normal with the exception that there is now a black
space where the scopes used to be.

remains in that condition even after the end of the call.
  When it keeps blinking I try to hold the button down and in few seconds the
screen turns black and the phone starts working again. Sometimes, instead, it
starts working again by itself.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1440608] Re: /etc/kernel/postinst.d/apt-auto-removal wants to remove all kernels except the latest one

2016-01-19 Thread Cavsfan
Thanks for the attention to this issue that effects every debian version
including Mint back to Trusty 14.04.
I copied your version 4 script into my /etc/kernel/postinst.d/apt-auto-removal.
I will post the entire output resulting from the next kernel that gets added.
I have a 64 bit version of Xubuntu Xenial Xerus (development branch) 16.04 at
present.
I like your notes in this version:
# In the common case, this results in exactly two kernels saved, but it can
#result in three kernels being saved. It's better to err on the
#side of saving too many kernels than saving too few.
That is exactly how I've always thought it should work.

  to be autoremoved. But once autoremove is completed the machine
  requests to be rebooted and at that time the /etc/apt/apt.conf.d
  /01autoremove-kernels file lists the 3.19.0-12-generic and
  3.19.0-10-generic kernels. So upon rebooting the 3.19.0-11-generic is

  We recently added a QtMultimedia video capture backend to Oxide so
  that we can make video capture for WebRTC work on the phone. However,
  whilst this works fine on desktop, no cameras are detected on the
  phone because QCamera::availableDevices() returns nothing.

  It seems that this functionality hasn't been implemented in qtubuntu-
  camera (http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~phablet-team/qtubuntu-
  camera/trunk/view/head:/src/aalcameraserviceplugin.cpp#L43).

  Chromium does depend on the ability to enumerate devices, and there's
  a public facing API for this as well (https://developer.mozilla.org
