[Torios] Icon and background default

2014-07-06 Thread Israel
(I posted this to G+ group as well)
It is getting close to time to decide some defaults.
I am nearing the completion of the JWM Settings Manager.
However to ensure a working install on all systems, we need to decide
what we will need.
That, said...
The two pressing issues are ICONS
and BACKGROUND.
I don't care what icons or background we use particularly.
But, I need to set a default background for JWM/ROX.

I have 'icons on the desktop' now fully implemented, though there are a
few tweaks I need to make to get it ready for testers before I package
it. And one of the most PRESSING issues is Icon theme and background.

Should we start a poll?

(extra info)

IF we want to use SVG icons, we will need to update the JWM in the
Ubuntu repositories, or contact the maintainer in Debian.
JWM supports SVG icons IF it is compiled with support for that. The
current package is not compiled with it.

Does anyone feel like contacting the maintainer?

I can get the colors from the screen shot, just fine.

If we're talking about the 'default' colors that the system will have by

distributions I'm aware of are using 'red' :)

Above all, don't even think about blue :D

No green. It is not Mint.

No black because we are not #!

Let's NOT forget that ToriOS is NOT as any other system we know.
Meaning, it is only 'base' system. User needs to build the system the

[Torios] Checking ... IN/OUT ?

2014-07-06 Thread Ali Linx

Hi all,

Before I go for my next meeting with another project (Ubuntu GNOME), I'd
like to check on everyone :)

WHO IS IN?
WHO IS NOT INTERESTED?

Sorry, not shouting here :P

Please reply with:

I'm IN if you still read this and you're interested to carry on.

I'm NOT
If you're around but no longer interested for whatever reason.

Starting after tomorrow hopefully, I shall dedicate '1 hour' daily for
ToriOS so that I no longer be away from my project nor you :)

I have some new plans for the system + the team. Mainly for the team.
And, I need to know who is IN and who is OUT.

Many thanks!

P.S.
This project will never walk slowly starting today ;)

[Torios] Moka Icons... :(

2014-07-06 Thread Israel
I chatted with snwh on #moka...
He was not interested in us using his Icons as a default icon theme
so we shall have to look elsewhere.
Any ideas? I'd rather not use one specific to another flavour of
Ubuntu, but I am open to options.
I'd prefer them to be in PNG format, for our own easy use, unless
someone is willing to re-upload jwm to a PPA with SVG support compiled
in. I have enough going on right now, and cannot take on another task
yet. There is too much else I have to attend to :)

But... imagemagick is quite nice for batch processing images. We could
possibly even add a script to the menu updater that converts images to
png and throws them into a certain directory. I have a script like that
that I made during Lubuntu alpha before the gdk-pixbufs bug was fixed.

Hi Israel,

The default theme and icons are not important for me. And it helps if
there are a couple of alternative themes (as you have already
suggested), and I prefer a light theme.

Best regards
