i am new to this email listand newish to linux
i have been using it for about a year but pretty much only as a user
i have recently begun to have a bit more freetime on my hands (i have
two wee little babes) and i wanna get into the admin side of all of this
stuff
so here i am :)

[techtalk] strange unknown...

hiyis...
i have this sound that my machine makes...
kinda goes dadadadaadaaa
we can not figure out what is doing it
no specific time of day completely random
have changed sound cards
nothing ever appears in the logs
i am running red hat 6.2 .. but this has accured through several
upgrades
it also happens even when the sound card is in use (as in real audio)
anyone ever have this happen or have any ideas to why it is happening?

[techtalk] Qvocab...

wondering if anyone uses it or has used it (it being qvocab) and may
have or know where to locate  premade databases...unfortunately this
little program saves the language info as a .qvo (some binary database
file stuff) and i cant just slap a huge list of words into it..gottta
sit and use the input function :(
if anyone helps i will be suprised but much thankful

[techtalk] phpwiki...

i have unsuccessfully attempted to get this up and running..
advertised itself as being straight out of the box will amaze u kind of
thing..
i do not host my own domain..am being hosted on a friends server
so i am not installing this straight off the root..is that why it is so
unhappy???
edit'd the config to point it to the right db/user/passwd
checked and the php on the server is the right version along with  mysql

anyone else gotten this to go id appreciate info on what exactly it
wants from me (how many pints of blood i must bleed) or alternatively a
better program to try

unfortunately i have found that when i went to the library to seee what
tech/computer books they had...all the good ones were stolen :(
