[Tagging] refugee camp
Hello, in our operation to fix campsite errors, there are several cases of refugee camps. some have temporarily abused tourism=camp_site to get a rendering and be able to use standard applications (I can understand, lives are impacted), but after a few years after the first use, we should find something better. what would be a better tag/value ? here are some examples I found on the wiki or with taginfo 2 examples that I think are fine amenity=refugee_housing place=refugee_camp 3 others examples tourism=camp_site + refugee=yes but it's not a tourism feature idp:camp_site=* but no main tag, and confusion with tourism is easy earthquake:damage=spontaneous_camp but no main tag by analogy with other tags, we could also imagine something like *=refugee_site but don't exists right now if someone participates in HOT or equivalent, do not hesitate to forward the humanitarian preset does not contain any proposals and does not seem to have been updated for a long time https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Humanitarian_OSM_Tags/HDM_preset Regards, Marc ___ Tagging mailing list Tagging@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/tagging

There are 40 instances of social_facility=refugee_camp, and 18 of social_facility=refugee_housing. But IMO "refugee" really belongs under the social_facility:for tag (nb social_facility:for=refugees is about 4 times as popular as social_facility:for=refugee, but the singular version is more consistent with usual tagging practices.) For the primary tag you could go with social_facility=group_home or social_facility=shelter, but they don't seem quite right. I'd suggest something like social_facility=temporary_housing. Refugees strike me as people fleeing from war / massive natural disaster - social_facility comes across as small scale for homeless people / women's refuge sort of thing? [Tagging] Complicated traffic light combinations
Hello, I've just mapped the traffic lights for a river crossing in https://www.openstreetmap.org/changeset/71005300 (Elvington in Yorkshire, England). There are at least 6 different sets of lights, some to control car traffic only, some cycle traffic only, some a combination (including in some cases also horse traffic). Some lights are button controlled (buttons exist for cars, horse riders and cyclists). I've tried to follow the "tag all incoming ways" example at https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:highway%3Dtraffic_signals . All of the ways where signals are are shared between car, horse and cycle traffic. There's the remains of a paint line on the road over the bridge which is supposed to indicate a cycle lane (I think). Pedestrians just have to take their chances - there are a couple of stone refuges on the bridge for them to hide dip into out of the way of cars. All of the buttons and lights are geared to allow people in whatever mode of transport to get across the bridge; none of them are for non-car traffic to cross the road. There may be ASLs for cyclists at one set of lights either side of the bridge, but unfortunately I can't remember and don't have notes on it. Along with which direction the light points and what traffic it is designed to control I've added the button info only as note tags at this stage, but is there a better way of doing this? I don't think the 'note' key is used by renders, it is mean for communication between mappers. I would use the 'description' key as it may go on to maps so that may communicate to both mappers and map users. ___ Tagging mailing list Tagging@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/tagging
Re: [Tagging] Complicated traffic light combinations
Actually, OSMand will display notes if you enable that feature. It's a useful tool if you happen to be an OSM mapper.
