[Tagging] How to tag un-named roundabout?
I have run into several un-named roundabouts which contain 3-6 feeder roads. Keepright, etc consider an unnamed road as an error. I could use highway=road, but this is described as an implied FIXME=yes. I could possibly assign the name of the most important feeder road. How should this be tagged? Never tag for the renderer... or the checker. If it doesn't have a name, it does not; we should fix the checker. If you want to make it clear that there really is no name for that road (or roundabout, in your case), you can use one of the solutions suggested on http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Proposed_features/Noname , for example the rather popular noname=yes: http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:noname It should be noted, however, that this is optional - a road without a name tag isn't an error, and it is perfectly appropriate to simply not set a name tag for the roundabout. Keepright's assumption that every way with a highway tag needs to have a name is simply not adequate. Just because Keepright, or any other lint tool, flags an error doesn't mean there really is an error. Tag what you find. You can mark the error as a false positive in Keepright to shut it up. If the former, not all have a name, which is fine in OSM, but if the latter, then every way needs a highway tag. I would tag it as the most major road that you have.
