Of course, you're quite right as usual! In crude terms, a speaker array with a small number of speakers only has a few degrees of freedom with which to reconstruct spherical harmonics. (Rapture3D will manage this for you.) However, the higher order harmonics also have a range of other uses in frequency bands where soundfield reconstruction is not being used, so it's good to have them! [Sursound] Brendan Hearne
Folks, I have just heard the sad news that Brendan Hearne, who owned and ran Music From York (which, starting in 1980, released many UHJ albums) passed away at the start of November. I'm so sorry to hear that. In my younger days, I always thought of him as the handsome dashing young Prince of Ambisonia, a foil for Grand Vizier Malham. Ken Farrar was Chief of the Dwarves with Clem Beaumont his resident Sorceror.
