Hi Alex and Barry, I get the same with my Mac OS X builds, on OS X 10.8.2: On first start the computer displays the contents of the video memory for a few seconds, a rapid flash (some centiseconds) of the splash screen, then Stellarium window. And, I noticed that sometimes, the CMD-Q shortcut doesn't work, and after having used the key combo, the Quit button in the bottom bar doesn't work either. In these cases, I've to force-quit Stellarium. However, this is not regular and I can't find a way to reproduce it everytime. Hi, I can confirm that on Mac OS X (10.8.2), after commenting out this line (around line #74): renderer->swapBuffers(); of StelLoadingBar.cpp, the splash screen is correctly displayed. I've commented the bug report accordingly.
