I tried killing the spamd and spamc processes, and restarting those,
but leaving spamass-milter alone. Again, this fixed it fine.
Hard to know where to look.

It's a pity that there isn't a way to integrate SpamAssassin into
sendmail without using milter since (for me) it's two new software
items and therefore two unknowns added to a reliable system.

I saw another poster mention MimeDefang, I had a quick look at this
but was put off by the notes about a tricky install. I really really
prefer to do everything from the FreeBSD ports system since I know
I can then build a new machine to replace a broken old one in fairly
short order.

[SAtalk] SpamAssassin dependencies on p5-Mail-Tools

2002-05-07 Thread spamassassin-local

I'm running SpamAssassin 2.01 on a FreeBSD box, build from
the FreeBSD ports collection. I recall that when I built it
it also pulled in p5-Net-DNS.

I recently updated the ports collection and see that SpamAssassin
is now at 2.20. However if I do a make in the ports dir it starts
pulling in stuff that the older one didn't need, ie p5-Mail-Tools,
and according to the Makefile it's going to need razor-agents too.

Are these really needed or can I build and install without them?
