Since approx. a day, notifications on the bug tracker for Octave are no longer
sent to the mailing list "octave-bug-trac...@gnu.org".
See, e.g., no new entries after June 13, 2024 at 12:01 in the email archive:
https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/octave-bug-tracker/2024-06/index.html

In the "Set notifications" configuration page, "Notify persons in the
category-related list in addition to the global list" is selected.
"octave-bug-trac...@gnu.org" is still in the "Global list" and "Send on all
updates" is ticked.

Is this a configuration issue in that tracker? Or did savannah stop sending
these emails for some reason?

Users that are explicitly in the CC-list of a bug report are still receiving
notification emails.

Thank you for looking into this.

Searching for differences in the notification emails that made it to the
mailing lists and those that didn't, I noticed that notifications started to
contain lines like the following at the same time that they stopped appearing
on the mailing list:

It looks like the notification from bug #65881 (your test report) made it
through to the mailing list.

Does that mean that it will be working again?

Is there an option that notifications that were missed will be sent now? (I
received a couple of notifications for bugs that I was subscribed to. But I
can't tell if there were any new comments in one of the other 1000s of
reports...)

Are only comments affected? But notifications for new reports are still
working?

It's more than 10 minutes since I added a comment on bug #65881. But it didn't
show up on the mailing list yet.

You can browse with the 'By Date' query form and sort by the 'Updated' field.

Unrelated: [https://lists.gnu.org/mailman/admindb/octave-bug-tracker
octave-bug-tracker moderation queue] holds quite a few messages, starting from
2020.  If there is no particular reason against, you could add
listhel...@gnu.org to the moderator address to make the volunteer moderator
team handle them.

Further observations:
* the feedback says that a notification is sent to octave-bug-tracker@ when
commenting;
* notifications from admin's support trackers arrive in archives of
sv-hackers@;
* sv-hackers@ have essentially empty 'content filtering' rules,
octave-bug-tracker configures some rules and sets 'Discard' in filter_action.

Yes, this is related to the new feature, sr #106712; at the same time, the set
of headers in notification emails changed (and is likely to change again to
make it work better).

Well, I _have_ found the notifications in octave-bug-tracker moderation queue,
16 messages from 2023-07-05 to 2024-07-14.  Subscribing myself to the mailing
list and letting them all go at once...

I couldn't figure out what setting made octave-bug-tracker behavior different
from sv-hackers, but the current revision doesn't send the Reply-To: header to
the mailing list, and it looks like the notifications pass octave-bug-tracker
moderation again.

Markus: 1) to follow up on Ineiev's replies, apparently no one was
actually tending to the octave-bug-tracker mailing list queue. The
current owner is list-ow...@octave.org and moderator is
list-modera...@octave.org.

If you want the "volunteer moderators" Ineiev spoke of to handle the
list, it's no problem, and I can set it up. Your addresses can stay in
the configuration (though apparently no one is actually reading them).
Please let us know here.

(Aside: the "volunteer moderators" are Ineiev, Bob Proulx, and myself.
We handle many (non)gnu lists in a semi-batch fashion. More volunteers
would be welcome.)

2) Timing: I've found that it often takes 20-30 minutes for a bug
message to get from submission to distribution on a bug-whate...@gnu.org
list. I don't know where the delay is. It's frustrating.
