Re: [regext] WG LAST CALL: draft-ietf-regext-epp-registry-maintenance-03

2020-11-09 Thread James Galvin

The WGLC for this document is now closed.

The Chairs do not believe this document is ready for publication.
Unfortunately, a number of items were brought up during the last call
that have not received enough discussion to resolve.

This document will remain a working group document.

The authors may wish to consider bringing the open issues to the floor
during the upcoming IETF109 meeting; there is some time on the agenda.

Regard,

Antoin and Jim

Although there have been 2 indications of support, James Gould
provided some extensive comments, most of which have been addressed in
version -04 of the document. However, Jody Kolker indicated in his
response that he’d appreciate some additional comments on a few
items.

The Chairs would like to see some discussion of the remaining items.
Would others please indicate their point of view in the active thread
between Jody and James.

Thank you,

Antoin and Jim

Re: [regext] WG LAST CALL: draft-ietf-regext-unhandled-namespaces-03

2020-11-09 Thread James Galvin

The WGLC for this document is now closed.

Thanks to the working group for the additional discussion on the concern
raised by Patrick Mevzek. Two additional people - Thomas Corte and
Martin Casanova - have indicated their support for the document.

The Chairs believe this document is now ready for submission to the
IESG. The document shepherd, David Smith, is requested to prepare the
shepherd writeup. Please be sure to note the last concern raised and
its resolution in the technical writeup.

Thanks,

Although there have been 3 indications of support, Patrick Mevzek and
James Gould have been having an extended discussion on the mailing
list about one issue. The chairs believe it is important to get
additional points of view, ideally from other EPP client developers
but all opinions are welcome.

Current consensus is to seek publication. However, we are a
relatively small group and we would like all comments considered by
multiple people. Would others please indicate their point of view in
the active thread between James and Patrick?

Thank you,

Antoin and Jim

Re: [regext] WG LAST CALL: draft-ietf-regext-unhandled-namespaces-03

2020-11-09 Thread Gould, James
Jim,

There is an update planned for draft-ietf-regext-unhandled-namespaces-05 that
addresses the concerns that Thomas Corte raised during the WGLC, with the
following changes:

  1. Based on feedback from Thomas Corte, added a description of the
element in RFC 5730 and it being extended to support returning
unhandled namespace information.
  2. Based on feedback from Thomas Corte, added a Implementation
Considerations section to cover client and server implementation
recommendations such as monitoring unhandled namespaces in the server to report
to the clients out-of-band and monitoring for responses containing unhanded
namespace information in the client to proactively add support for the
unhandled namespaces.

draft-ietf-regext-unhandled-namespaces-05 will be posted once the draft
submission window opens up.

Thanks,

Thanks for calling this out Jim. Antoin and I were talking about this
this morning and still I managed to miss it when sending the note out.

The document shepherd - David Smith - should wait for the latest version
of the document to do his writeup.
