If you have the old BP 585 watt modules I would strongly suggest that you scrap
the whole system. Take advantages of better performance modules & inverters
and IF the client may have tax liabilities then they can discuss the additional
tax benefits of a new system with their accountant. those old BP 585 were
around in the late 90s.

For sure Tump! BP had huge recalls of many different models for
intermittent operation in a settlement after they got out of solar. There
are alot of bad things in life. Intermittent electricals in solar, is a
PITA. Still try to never buy anything from BP after the time I put in on
that junk!

Re: [RE-wrenches] Need some help

2021-06-07 Thread Sindelar Solar
For the record, though, the recalls came later, mostly with
polycrystalline 72-cell modules, 160s and such. The 75s, 85s and 90s
proved to have few failures. I'm still running my home off of 18 BP90s
(one's an 85) and that 1,595 watt (original rating) from 1997, and it
still runs around 1,300-1,400 watts IRL. I'm not defending BP - they
went down in flames and for good reason - just making a distinction
between early and mid-2000s.

[RE-wrenches] Sonnen Eco 10 battery system

2021-06-07 Thread Jamie Rennie
We installed a Sonnen Eco 10 unit with whole house consumption kit
(required for whole house backup). System is functional but the monitoring
is all over the place. Will show consumption then show nothing and same
with production from the PV. Been back and forth with Sonnen tech support
trying to get this resolved to no avail. Weird thing is when we switch the
system over to off-grid mode we get solid numbers on the monitoring.
Wondering if anyone else has experienced these issues installing Sonnen
systems?

Re: [RE-wrenches] Sonnen Eco 10 battery system

2021-06-07 Thread Chris Sparadeo
Hi Jamie,

Sounds like it could potentially be a wiring issue with the consumption
meter inside the unit. I have run into this before with a factory mis-wired
meter that was throwing off values.

Best,

Chris
