Re: [RE-wrenches] Ilsco Insulated Tap Connectors

2018-06-07 Thread cwarfel
Hello Wrenches, I am trying to redesign a couple hundred watt load
off-grid system by first focusing on the battery technology. The Li
based battery "packages" I am aware of are essentially for a residence,
which is too large for this application. Can you recommend a
manufacturer of Li batteries that can be used in an off grid application
that had safe battery charging capabilities as part of its product
line.  Currently, 2 Trojan L16s are being used, which, while is a fine
battery, is limited in its depth of discharge.  Thanks for any
info/help.  Chris

I'll x2 what Ray saysunless it specifies AC or DC then the voltage rating
applies to either.

Discover AES has some very nice Li-ion batteries that work directly with
Schneider Electric and soon Outback.

Almost all of the LFP batteries are selling for about $1,000 per usable
KWH. They are expensive but if you do the math, and pick a company that
will be there, they could outlive you.

[RE-wrenches] top of pole with no galvy

2018-06-07 Thread Bruce Erickson
Hi All,
I have a super particular customer who needs a small top-of-pole rack, but will
not accept anything but aluminum or stainless (or bronze or titanium or . . ).
No galvanized steel! Anyone have a lead on a rack manufacturer that has all
aluminum pole tops, like Unirac used to make?
Thanks.

That's funny, Unirac were some of the weakest TOP mounts I ever used.
Better be sure and get stainless pipe for in the ground, because the
pole right at the transition into the ground is the first thing that
will rust.

Another idea,  it might be easier to find all Aluminum racking in a
regular ground mount, and set it on concrete Sona tube risers.
