Yes, we will take modules in pretty much any condition so long as the mods are
still producing power. We can try to replace the glass; sometimes it works,
sometimes it doesn't. Our process is quite straight-forward:
1. You assemble the equipment decide on a fair-market value. This will be the
amount you will be taking for your tax-deduction.
2. We arrange a method to obtain the materials. Local donations can be
delivered but for donations from outside of Northern California we will have to
arrange freight. In cases involving freight, we may ask you to help us
determine the total weight of the shipment.
3. We take possession of materials and furnish a "Charitable Contribution
Verification" receipt for your donation.
Optional
4. We list you as a donor and supporter of our organization and the specific
project to which your donation was applied.
5. We reference and link your company as a partner and sponsor of Good Sun on
our website and marketing materials.
Notes: Please consult your tax adviser when making donations to public
charities.

IRS Info: “An individual who itemizes deductions may deduct contributions to
most charitable organizations up to 50% of his or her adjusted gross income
computed without regard to net operating loss carrybacks.” Documents Required
for IRS. Property worth $500 or less: You must justify the deduction with the
receipt provided by Good Sun. Property worth more than $500, but not more than
$5,000: In addition to the receipt provided by Good Sun, you are required to
complete IRS Form 8283, "Non-Cash Charitable Contribution", which contains
written records of how the property was acquired and your cost basis if the
property was held less than 12 months. You must also have the item appraised
and save the certificate of appraisal with the receipt. Appraisals should be
done before items are donated and payment of the appraisal is the
responsibility of the donor. A single item valued at $5,000 or more, or several
similar items donated in a single year whose value totals $5,000 or more: This
donation must be appraised before the donation is made, and the appraisal must
be obtained by the donor. Good Sun does not perform appraisals on any donations.
Garrison, let me know if you would like more info or if you would like to make
a donation. If you're looking for a home for the old 2kW Sharps, we have a
project ready to go. Thanks!

Hi Eric,
I saw your post on the wrenches forum. To clarify, you take modules with
broken glass? We have a handful of those and some other orphans as well. We
also recently took down a fully functional 9 year old 2.16kW array of Sharp
180s and an SMA 1800U inverter. Please help me better understand your process,
as we would like for this equipment to get into service if possible!
Sounds like you guys do great work.
Best regards,
Garrison Riegel
