[RBW] Homer arrived!
Many thanks to everyone on the list who helped me pick out some of the bits. This is the 71cm double top tube A. Homer Hilson for a 6'7" rider (me). It arrived safe and sound earlier this week packed just like the rivbike YouTube video shows. My first impression after (re) assembly was OMG, this is the biggest frickin bike I've ever seen! I was seriously worried that I wouldn't be able to get on the thing. Of course I needn't have worried - with big tires and bare footed wearing jeans, my, umm, soft tissues just graze the top tube. It is very weird not to need a special long seat post or a special long stem. It is weird not to need to push the seat really far back. It is weird not to need to do funky things to put the bars in a comfortable spot. It is really weird to have a bike that fits. And fit it does, at least based on my quick test rides. I won't be able (or at least willing) to really put it through it's paces for a while - it is ten degrees F as I write this. Here is how the build ended up: Velocity Dyad rims with Phill Wood hubs, 40 spokes in the back and 36 in the front. Phil Wood bottom bracket Shimano 9-sp cassette, 12-36 180mm Carmina cranks with a 50-36-28 triple ring and Grip King pedals B-67 saddle in brown Albatross bars with cork grips and thumbie shifters SKS fenders, a Mark's rack, basket, xs Saddlesack, and a brass bell. My camera battery is dead, so a few iPhone snaps will have to do for "proof". http://picasaweb.google.com/103334920335992755260/BrandNewHilsen?feat=directlink David -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. [RBW] Re: Building up a new Roadeo
Very nice. The British racing green with the Rivendell cream and lugs look super nice together. [RBW] Frame pump?
OK, this is probably a really dumb question. You can all feel free to make fun of my ignorance - I won't mind. My new Hilsen has one of those spiky braze-ons for a frame pump. A very long time ago I had an English three speed with a frame pump, but it had two of those spiky braze-ons and the pump fit between them. So how does it work with just one? What do I need to know to shop for a frame pump that will fit? Any suggestions for a nice rivish pump? [RBW] Re: Frame pump?
Ahh, thanks guys. I feel enlightened. Ya know Eddie, you would think that with the thousands of hours (only slight exaggeration) that I have spent on the riv site lately that I would have known that was there. But I didn't. [RBW] Re: AHH Gets A New Old Crank Set, Old Rear Derailleur - Feels Fantastic !
Whoa, really? I am the same height or I might be a touch taller (6'7" everyday), with a pbh of 100, but my fingertip to fingertip is over 200cm. Did you mean 202? You must have. [RBW] Re: Informal Tall Riders Group
I think it is brilliant. Those people who can shop at the mall for clothing have no idea the weird issues the very tall face. Rivendel is such a tall friendly company that I think there are probably a freakishly disproportionate number of us here. Has anyone tall tried the bike poncho? I'm worried my knees will get wet. [RBW] Re: Reading Readers in e-readers?
For the iPad (or other iDevice), GoodReader is a great choice. It will open PDFs of arbitrary size (even password protected ones) and can function as a shared drive on your network, so you can basically drag and drop your Readers. It can also download PDFs from URLs. David On Jan 9, 7:24 pm, AmiSingh wrote: > It's a little complicated ... But it works perfectly -- > > Copy the content of the CDs onto your preferred cloud, ie.
