Re: [RBW] Appaloosa Build Opinions

2023-06-30 Thread Drew Fitchette
Hey Ted!

I’ve got a 53cm Atlantis with 100mm stem and albatross bars, and a near 0
mm stem with mustache bars on my Holdsworth. Both super different vibes,
but I’m in Atlanta if you have a desire to check either of them out!

Love my Alba bars though!

Hello Justus,

Wanted to ask what model Riv you touring on, noticed the third bottle cage

wide? curious about what those fenders can accommodate. Amazing build!
Thanks

Re: [RBW] Northern Hemisphere Summer Riding Photos 2023

2023-06-30 Thread Takashi
Thank you John.
But, you know, summer in Japan is more severe than in Canada, and "Rinse"
isn't easy here since rivers in Japan (https://flic.kr/p/2oz6bYx) are
basically more treacherous than those in Canada, so mileage will be smaller
in summer.
I'll post pictures when I go ride.

Scott, handlebar is Albastache, and the stem is Nitto Dirt Drop 10cm.
Riv recommends that Moustache bar raised high
(https://www.rivbike.com/pages/nitto-stem-comparison), so I raised my
Albastache high.
Climbing is equally as easy as with drop bars, and feels very natural when
descending curvy roads, maybe most natural among the bars I've used so far.
(I've used Noodle, Albatross, Bosco, and Bullmoose.)
First I had the bar ends pointed slightly downward, and I suffered hand
numbness. I tilted it so the bar ends point very slightly UPward, and the
numbness is gone, though it seems counter intuitive.

Arkel makes something similar to what you're looking for
(https://arkel.ca/collections/bike-panniers/products/dry-lites-saddle-bags).
We use these on our tandem, and they've proved to be durable. They're
designed to attach to your rack top with velcro straps, but I think you
could simply leave the bags velcroed together and attached them at the
bottom.

I cal them "double panniers". I had a set back in the day that even had a
third zippered bag that covered the tops of the other two, it was huge. I
see Public Bikes has a set for under half price. The text says each side
can carry roughly a bag of groceries.

Then there's the Amazon mega mart that is full of double panniers, shop

Thanks Bill and Tom.

Garth: embarras des richesses; thanks. Much to review.

I got a kick out of this: Waterproof Feature: This Bicycle Panniers *make

Many organic canvases died to make these panniers.

Also struck by sellers' confusion about volume, often listing vastly
different CI and Litre capacities.
