Funny, I always thought the idea was when the screensaver was active, you'd press a key on the keyboard to deactivate it... That's how they always worked.until now...in a VM. Weird I know but apparently when the screensaver kicks in it must do something different in a VM. The mouse continued to work without a problem. Anyway, problem solved.
