Thanks!

I'm really excited to be joining Puppet Labs as the new Community Manager.
My first day at Puppet Labs was at PuppetConf, which was both awesome
and a bit surreal at the same time. I'm now in day 5, and I think I'm
already behind.

Here is a little background to help you understand why I'm crazy enough to
want
to be an open source community manager. I've been working with open source
communities mostly full-time for the past 12 years, and I've been using open
source software since the early 90's. I've been a UNIX sys admin, a
programmer,
a program manager, a market researcher and more.

I've managed quite a few open source communities over the past few years,
including
Tizen and MeeGo while working in Intel's Open Source Technology Center,
Openfire
at Jive Software, etc. I also have a BS in Computer Science and an MBA,
which just
proves that I'm one of those weird people who likes to take classes and
hang out at
Universities.

On a personal note, I ...
* drink too much green tea
* am a data / metrics geek
* actually enjoy running and lifting weights
* wrote 2 books: one on community and a vegan cookbook
* read a lot of science fiction / fantasy (see my website for a list)

To avoid doing anything too stupid in my first month, I will spend most of
my time lurking, learning and working on published community metrics.

As I mentioned during PuppetConf, feel free to let me me know
* what you love about the Puppet Community (I'll try not to screw it up)
* what you don't like (I'll try to fix it)
* when someone isn't responding (I can glare at the right person until
we reply to pull requests, bugs or other neglected bits)

You can find me here on the mailing lists or via:
* email: d...@puppetlabs.com
* Twitter and other sites: @geekygirldawn
* IRC: DawnFoster
* Website: http://fastwonderblog.com

Oh, and I can also be a little long-winded (fair warning).

Thanks for sharing your module!

You might get some additional feedback if you also upload your module
to the Forge: http://forge.puppetlabs.com/

[Puppet Users] Puppet Meetup at LinuxCon Europe: Nov 5 in Barcelona

2012-10-25 Thread Dawn Foster
We are having an informal Puppet Meetup at LinuxCon Europe in
Barcelona on Monday, November 5 at 7:15pm. You don't need to be
attending LinuxCon to join us at the meetup. I will be attending
LinuxCon and hosting the meetup.

The format is very informal. We won't have any presentations or
speakers, just a few of us at a bar to have a couple of drinks and
chat about Puppet.

We're still working on finding a place to hold the meetup, but it will
be in or near Hotel Fira Palace (LinuxCon venue) right after the
scheduled evening LinuxCon event on Monday night. Please RSVP now if
you want to attend to help us plan for the number of attendees and a
venue: http://puppetmeetupbarcelona.eventbrite.com/

We'll send an update to RSVP'ed attendees with the meetup location
when we have selected a place to have it.

Note: I will also be presenting about open source metrics (using some
examples from the Puppet Community) on Nov 5 at 1:20pm as part of
LinuxCon Europe for anyone who wants to attend my session as well.

[Puppet Users] Puppet Community Metrics

2012-11-13 Thread Dawn Foster
Last month, we started publicly posting monthly community metrics
reports with all kinds of interesting information about the Puppet
Community. I also realized that I did a couple of blog posts about
this, but I had not posted it here on the mailing list for your
reading pleasure. The latest version of the metrics can be found here:
http://puppetlabs.com/community/metrics/

Here is a quick summary of the October edition of the metrics for your
reading pleasure, but you can also download the full October metrics
report: http://puppetlabs.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/Metrics-Oct-2012.pdf

October Metrics Summary:
4864 members and 1249 messages in Puppet-Users
899 members and 157 messages in Puppet-Dev
916 nicks on #puppet IRC channel
1731 Puppet Forge users and 577 modules
3526 Redmine accounts
399 forks / 1014 watchers of Puppet

Top 5 participants (by number of lines posted) in the #Puppet IRC channel:
* Volcane
* lavaman
* FriedBob
* fubada
* bubu\a

You can see the list of the top 20 people in the full report for October.

New this month, I’ve started gathering the top participants in each of
our community mailing lists. I am including the top 5 contributors in
the Puppet-Users mailing list, but you can see the full report for the
top users in Puppet-Dev and Puppet-Razor.

Top 5 participants (by number of messages / replies posted) in the
Puppet-Users list:
* jcbollinger
* Jeff McCune
* Josh Cooper
* Jakov Sosic
* Worker Bee

We’re also continuing to do a better job of merging code and keeping
the number of pull requests low in Puppet, at least compared to some
past months. We can always do a better job of more quickly merging
pull requests, but we’re continuing to work on improving this by
focusing some time on this activity. See October report for graph.

We also know that we have way too many outstanding issues in Redmine.
Many of these issues are in various limbo states, and they just need
people to go through and triage them. We’re working on a way to better
manage this process and make it easy for community contributors to
help with the triage process. We hope to have this ready in the next
couple of weeks. See October report for graph.

The full metrics report for October has several other charts that I
didn’t talk about here along with other details if you want to see
more: http://puppetlabs.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/Metrics-Oct-2012.pdf

This month, I added some new data for contributions to our mailing
lists, and I also hope to be adding additional details over the coming
months. If there is additional data you’d like to see, let me know,
and I’ll do what I can to get it included.

Thanks,
Dawn Foster

[Puppet Users] Fwd: Call for talks: Configuration/Systems Management DevRoom at FOSDEM 2013

2012-11-16 Thread Dawn Foster

it here to encourage all of you to submit config/systems mgmt or
DevOps talks for FOSDEM.

Or you might just want to save the date on your calendar to attend the
Configuration/Systems Management DevRoom on Saturday, February 2, 2013
in Brussels, Belgium.

Configuration/Systems Management DevRoom -
https://lists.fosdem.org/listinfo/config-mgmt-devroom

Saturday, the 2nd of February 2013, 09:00 to 17:00, Brussels, Belgium

Contact: config-mgmt-devr...@lists.fosdem.org

We will be holding a Configuration/Systems Management DevRoom at
FOSDEM 2013 and are requesting abstracts for structured presentations
now.

Important information, dates:
* Submission deadline for abstracts: 2012-12-15
* Notification of accepted speakers: 2012-12-25
* Final schedule: 2013-01-11

** About this DevRoom **

DevOps has created a renaissance for managing technology. There is
huge interest in automation, monitoring, performance management,
configuration management, DevOps and the cloud. We're seeking people
who are working in the field, interested in the field, or just
interested in learning more about how to manage infrastructure better,
cheaper and faster.

We invite you to submit talks on these topics:

* Configuration and Systems Management theory & principles
* Configuration and Systems Management tools - with an emphasis on
real world use cases
* Techniques and case studies
* Audit, Compliance and Security
* Various DevOps topics, including collaboration and training tips.

We're looking for talks on the cutting edge of systems tools and
configuration management. This is your opportunity to show off and
tell us what makes your environment shine! Some examples of things you
might want to cover in your proposed talk:
* how did you collaborate with your developers to integrate configuration mgmt
* how did you make the case for config mgmt
* how do you train people on config mgmt (pitfalls etc..)
* what do developers think about config mgmt
* where do you draw the line between system configs and application configs
* a cost analysis for using configuration management - is it worth it :)
* if you could wave a magic wand, what would you change in the current
mgmt systems

We have a selection committee made up of the following people who will
review the CFPs and decide which sessions will be part of the
Configuration/Systems Management DevRoom:
* Eric Sorenson
* Kris Buytaert
* Brice Figureau
* Patrick Debois
* Alessandro Franceschi
* We may add an additional person or 2

** Your submission must include:**

* Your name

* The title of your talk

* A short abstract of one to two paragraphs (150 words, max.)

* A short biography

* Links to related websites/blogs etc.

Send the abstracts to:

config-mgmt-devr...@lists.fosdem.org

Presentations are to be formal and not longer than 30 minutes, plus 15
extra for questions (45 in total). Panels with more than one speaker
are something we're also seeking, a "My configuration management tools
are the awesomest and I'll debate that!" is possible, as are shorter
presentations of 20 minutes. We're also exploring some un-conference
style presentations too.

The deadline for submissions is December 15, 2012. If your proposal
has been accepted, you will be informed by email by December 25, 2013.

Please feel free to forward this call for abstracts and papers to
relevant lists, people and sites. We're looking forward to seeing lots
of interested folks, have lots of spirited presentations, debates,
discussion and ... quite possibly drinking.

A PuppetCamp in Berlin would be great! We are currently planning
several other PuppetCamps in Europe in February, so November might be
a little better as long as it doesn't fall too close to the US
Thanksgiving holiday (Nov 28 and 29), which might prevent you from
getting speakers from Puppet Labs. Most PuppetCamps have us do some
kind of opening session (State of Puppet) and possibly one other
technical session. We can work together on these kinds of details.

[Puppet Users] Puppet Camp Ghent Jan 31 & Feb 1 (before FOSDEM)

2012-12-06 Thread Dawn Foster
I wanted to let everyone know that we're holding Puppet Camp Ghent on
January 31 and February 1. For those of you attending FOSDEM, don't
worry, you will have plenty of time to catch the train (it's a 30
minute trip) from Ghent to Brussels for the FOSDEM Friday Beer Event
after we wrap up Puppet Camp :)

I've posted all of the details here:
http://puppetlabs.com/blog/puppet-camp-ghent-register-or-submit-a-talk/

But here's the quick summary:
* Registration is open now: http://puppetcampghent2013.eventbrite.com/
* We're looking for sponsors: please email j...@puppetlabs.com for details.
* We need you to submit a talk:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dDVtQUJYbDVEOTQ3UnVHZWVsdC1oeEE6MQ

For those of you also attending FOSDEM, you should consider submitting
a talk for the Configuration/Systems Management DevRoom:
https://lists.fosdem.org/pipermail/config-mgmt-devroom/2012-November/00.html

Note: I've cross posted this (BCC) to puppet-announce and puppet-dev,
but please post any replies to puppet-users to keep the thread in one
place.

Let me know if you have any questions, and I hope to see many of you there!

[Puppet Users] New Q&A Site to Ask Puppet Questions

2012-12-17 Thread Dawn Foster
Today, we are launching the beta version of a new question and answer
site where you can ask any Puppet questions or provide answers for
questions from other Puppet users and developers.

The idea is to give you another way to ask questions if you aren’t a
fan of mailing lists or IRC. It’s similar to a forum, but is more like
Stack Overflow. You can get a good feel for the type of questions
people are asking by visiting the Ask site now:
https://ask.puppetlabs.com.

With the focus on asking questions, it is a little harder for people
to digress into endless debates. However, the main benefit is that
great answers and knowledge live on, and it gives us a better place to
point people for good answers than mailing list archives. Because this
Q&A site lives on puppetlabs.com, you can easily do a google search
with site:puppetlabs.com along with your query to find answers to
questions along with relevant documentation and other information all
in the same location.

We are still working through a few last bugs, and I expect that you
will find a few bugs, too. We have a project in the bug tracker where
you can see existing bugs, file new bugs or suggest improvements:
https://projects.puppetlabs.com/projects/ask/issues

Visit ask.puppetlabs.com to get started.

Please ask your questions, answer some existing questions, file bugs
to let us know what isn’t working, and be patient while we fix your
bugs :)

If you have any questions or concerns about the new Q&A site for
Puppet, please let me know.

Thanks,
Dawn

Unfortunately, not yet. I'm planning to get the user accounts integrated between
Forge, Ask, bug tracker and other puppet stuff sometime next year along with
better profiles for community members so that you can find each other's posts,

No problem at all. Many of us who have been using mailing lists
forever are perfectly comfortable with them. I like mailing lists,
since I can filter things coming in and quickly scan through them to
find the important things that I want to respond to.

There are others who really don't like email, are intimidated by it,
or who just want something different. Many of those people would
prefer to use something else. Unfortunately, the Google Groups web
interface isn't a great choice, either. It's more forum like, but can
be painful to use.

The idea is that the people who like the mailing lists will continue
to ask and answer questions here. The mailing lists will never go away
- in my opinion, they are the basis for most technical communities,
especially open source communities.

The Ask Q&A site just gives those people who prefer something more
like stack overflow (with voting and other interactivity) also have a
place where they can feel more comfortable asking questions.

On the one hand, I hate fragmenting the community by introducing yet
another site, but I also want everyone to feel comfortable asking and
answering questions. Hopefully, the Ask Q&A site will be a place where
people can also get great answers to questions.

submit your talks to Puppet Camp Ghent, so proposals are now due on
January 10:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dDVtQUJYbDVEOTQ3UnVHZWVsdC1oeEE6MQ

Just a quick reminder that this is being held on January 31 and Feb 1,
which are the 2 days before FOSDEM, and Ghent is just a short, 30
minute train ride from Brussels. We'll be wrapping up on Friday with
plenty of time for people to get to FOSDEM for the Friday Beer Event.

Don't forget to register here:

Thanks,

[Puppet Users] New Trivial Patch Exemption Policy for open source contributions

2013-01-08 Thread Dawn Foster
I wanted to make sure that everyone was aware of a slight change we've
made to the process for open source contributions. For *trivial*
contributions, we are no longer requiring a Contributor License
Agreement (CLA). Note that for most contributions a CLA signature is
still required. I'm also working on making the overall CLA process
easier, but that will take a little more time to overhaul.

You can see more about our definition of trivial and how to use the
process here:
http://docs.puppetlabs.com/community/trivial_patch_exemption.html

Hopefully, this will make it easier for people to make small
contributions to our projects. Again, remember that this is only for
trivial contributions. Most contributions will still require a CLA.
See the link above for exactly what can / cannot be considered
trivial.

We will be updating our contributing.md files soon to include this
information. If you are unfamiliar with our contribution process, you
can get more information and links to our CLA from the Puppet
contributing.md file:
https://github.com/puppetlabs/puppet/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md

For any questions about the process, ping me, and I'm happy to answer them.

Dawn Foster

It's a bit more complicated ...

We originally said that we were no longer investing in Dashboard:
https://groups.google.com/group/puppet-users/browse_thread/thread/8f8e046d3258ec72/

But, that we were hoping someone else would pick it up and run with
it, which Aaron Stone has:
https://groups.google.com/group/puppet-dev/browse_thread/thread/50c8a0e297029de6/7ddef9c90b5b3732

Based on the work Aaron has been doing, I wouldn't think of it as deprecated.

I was assuming this is for FOSDEM (Feb 2 and 3) and not Puppet Camp
Ghent? You should probably clarify that on the signup sheet with the
exact dates and times that the community stands are open. Are they
open during the entire day (Sat: 10:30am - 19:00 and Sunday: 9am -
18:00)?

Hi Miguel,

We recently removed this page, since most of those badges are very old

I'm hoping to get some new ones designed, but we just haven't had a

We're working on that now, too. We're coming up with some new logos for
things like Puppet Camps, for example, but we haven't rolled it out yet, and
we know we need better usage guidelines at the same time. Let me ping the
design team and see if I can find out when we'll have this published.

[Puppet Users] Interested in Presenting at or Attending Upcoming Puppet Camps?

2013-03-11 Thread Dawn Foster
We've already had quite a few Puppet Camps this year, but we have a
few more on the schedule before we take a break for the summer and get
ready for PuppetConf on August 22 and 23 (http://puppetconf.com/)!

First of all, we have a few Puppet Camps coming up where we are
actively looking for speakers. We're looking for talks on technologies
and talks about how you use Puppet in your organization (what you've
learned). We don't always get a lot of presentation submissions, so
your chances of getting accepted are good. Since most Puppet Camps are
100-200 people, it's also a great way to test out a presentation that
you are thinking of doing about Puppet at a larger conference.

We need talks for ...

San Francisco - April 9:
Register: http://puppetcampsanfrancisco2013.eventbrite.com
Submit a talk before March 17:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dEx3bGpjSnk0WEVuR2JFZEU5UzM5RXc6MA

Nuremberg, Germany - April 19:
Register or submit a talk before March 15: http://www.netways.de/puppetcamp/

New York City (Manhattan) - Tentatively scheduled for April 24:
Submit a talk before March 24:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dGJFVk5DSV9lZDFseU5sOEpSOTI5bXc6MA

Austin, TX - Tentatively scheduled for April 29 (before DevOpsDays):
Submit a talk before March 29:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dDBja2poeE5KN20zTDVxQldTVEFyWVE6MA

Raleigh, NC (Research Triangle) - Tentatively scheduled for May 16:
Submit a talk before April 15:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dE9vTWJvbjh2ZnRpUHpTMGY4Y0RXa2c6MA

We also have a few other upcoming camps where the presentations have
been selected and agendas published, but it isn't too late to attend!

Barcelona March 14: http://puppetcampbarcelona2013.eventbrite.com
Baltimore March 15: http://puppetcampbaltimore2013.eventbrite.com
Atlanta March 19: http://puppetcampatlanta2013.eventbrite.com
Amsterdam April 5: http://puppetcampamsterdam2013.eventbrite.com

Chicago (March 13) and London (March 27) both rock - those Puppet
Camps are sold out, but you can still get on the waitlist:
http://puppetcampchicago2013.eventbrite.com
http://puppetcamplondon2013.eventbrite.com

If you missed some of our recent Puppet Camps, you can catch up by
reading the presentation materials (and video where available) at
https://puppetlabs.com/community/puppet-camp/#previous

As always, let me know if you have any questions, and I hope to see
some of you at these upcoming Puppet Camps!

Just to clarify a bit ... Puppet Dashboard hasn't really been
deprecated. Puppet Labs is less focused on it, but Aaron Stone (aka
sodabrew) has picked up a big chunk of the maintenance, and we're
still regularly releasing updates. Longer term, we're working on some
replacement technologies, but if Dashboard meets your needs now, it's
fine to keep using it.

You can see the recent work done on it here - quite a few people are
still committing changes on a regular basis:

[Puppet Users] Submit talks for FOSDEM & CfgMgmtCamp.eu

2013-10-11 Thread Dawn Foster
We would like to encourage people to submit talks for the
Configuration Management devroom, which is being held at FOSDEM on
Saturday, February 1 in Brussels, Belguim and the CfgMgmtCamp.eu right
after FOSDEM on February 3 - 4 in Gent (a 30 min train ride from
Brussels)

=== FOSDEM Feb 1 & 2 ===

We are looking for talks from real world case studies, brainstorming
and hacking around configuration and systems management from complex
virtual environments and cloud computing to desktops and laptops.
There is huge interest in automation, monitoring, performance
management, configuration management, and DevOps. We are looking for
presentations from people who are working in the field on these
topics:
* Configuration and Systems Management theory & principles
* Configuration and Systems Management tools - with an emphasis on
real world use cases
* Techniques and case studies

[Puppet Users] Submit Talks to the Puppet Contributor Summit and Related FOSDEM Events

2013-11-07 Thread Dawn Foster
We will be holding a Puppet Contributor Summit on February 3 and 4 in
Ghent, starting the day after FOSDEM, and we are actively looking for
you to submit talks!

The plan is to hold two contributor summits per year with the first
one at CfgMgmtCamp.eu and the second at PuppetConf. We want this event
to attract both existing and new contributors to Puppet, related
projects and modules. We hope to get existing contributors more
engaged, encourage new contributions, and improve our processes for
working with community contributors.

We would like the following people attend the Contributor Summit:
* People who have submitted pull requests and contribute code to our projects
* Community members working on related projects
* Module developers and publishers
* Key community members who answer a lot of questions about using Puppet
* Long-time Puppet users who are interested in doing more

If you are planning to attend the Contributor Summit, you should also
attend FOSDEM, which is February 1 and 2 in Brussels, and it has 2
devrooms that are interesting to people using Puppet. Talk submissions
for the Configuration Management devroom are due December 1 and the
deadline for the Testing and Automation devroom is Nov 20.

Even if you don't want to speak, we encourage you to attend!
Registration for FOSDEM is not required, and registration for
CfgMgmtCamp.eu and the Contributor Summit will be opening soon at
CfgMgmtCamp.eu.

[Puppet Users] Don't forget to register for PuppetConf

2014-07-21 Thread Dawn Foster
I want to remind everyone that the EarlyBird discount for PuppetConf
ends on July 31: https://2014.puppetconf.com/register

The session schedule is looking amazing this year with talks from Luke
Kanies, Kate Matsudaira, Jordan Sissel, Sarah Novotny, R. Tyler Croy,
Gareth Rushgrove and many more! We're covering a huge range of topics
that include getting started with Puppet, what's new in Puppet and
Puppet Enterprise, using Puppet with Windows, scaling, security,
writing modules, testing ... the list goes on and on:
http://2014.puppetconf.com/schedule-detail

We also have training classes, certification, and demos! You won't to
miss out on the many social events: a couple of great parties, the 5K
run, and a women's breakfast. I'll also be leading werewolf games late
into the evening in the hacker lounge.

For those of you who currently contributing to Puppet, modules and
related projects (or are interested in contributing), I want to
encourage you to attend the Puppet Contributor Summit on Monday,
September 22. We will have separate tracks for Modules and Puppet Core
projects and plenty of time available for hacking on code. It's free
to anyone attending PuppetConf:

You should be all set now. I updated the ticket with more details

Your pull request against puppetlabs-corosync should be updated with a
new auto-generated message that the CLA has been signed. If the

Agreed!

As a reminder for everyone, we have some community guidelines designed
to keep the Puppet Community awesome:
https://docs.puppetlabs.com/community/community_guidelines.html

Sharing dumps of our certification exam answers would be against these
guidelines, since the answers are considered private / proprietary.
This goes against the "keep it legal" section.

More fundamentally, we think that sharing certification exam answers
isn't good for the community. For our certification to be meaningful
and well-respected, we have to make sure that only the people with a
solid working knowledge of Puppet best practices can pass the exam.
Sharing exam answers to help people pass the exam wouldn't be fair to
the other people who have become certified based solely on their hard
work learning Puppet.

If we all work together in the community to make sure that only the
people who are knowledgeable about Puppet become certified, then the
certification will be more meaningful to hiring managers and others
who want to use our certifications as an indicator of Puppet skills.

Dawn Foster

[Puppet Users] Talk proposals, Puppet Contributor Summit and more

2014-11-19 Thread Dawn Foster
I wanted to let everyone know about some upcoming events where we need
contributions from the Puppet community.

Do you contribute to Puppet core projects, Forge modules or other
Puppet community projects? If so, you should join us in Ghent, Belgium
on February 4 for the 3rd Puppet Contributor Summit:
http://contributorsummitfeb2015.eventbrite.com/

The Puppet Contributor Summit is being held the day after
ConfigManagmentCamp, which is right after FOSDEM. ConfigManagementCamp
has a Puppet room, and FOSDEM has a bunch of devrooms, including one
for configuration management and another for testing / automation. I'm
one of the organizers for both of the config management events, and
we're looking for Puppet talks along with other topics.
http://cfgmgmtcamp.eu/#contributions

If you can't travel to Belgium, you should join us for our online
#puppethack contributor event over IRC on December 4 or at one of our
regular pull request triage hangouts.
https://puppetlabs.com/community/contributor-events

We have Call for Proposals (CFPs) open for Puppet Camps in Portland,
Amsterdam, LA (SCALE), Phoenix, Denver, Austin, and Berlin (OSDC). I
would love to see more talk proposals:
https://puppetlabs.com/community/puppet-camp#2465

Beginner, intermediate or advanced:
* FOSDEM, ConfigManagementCamp, Puppet Contributor summit and
#puppethack are more for intermediate / advanced Puppet users. If
you've been using Puppet for a while or want to propose talks about
advanced topics, these are the events for you.
* Puppet Camps tend to have a lot of beginners in the audience, so
talks about getting started with some aspect of Puppet or other
beginner topics for talk proposals are encouraged! If you are a
beginner, you should attend a camp, and if you are a more intermediate
/ advanced user, submit a talk proposal.

More details about all of these topics can be found in my blog post:

2015-01-12 Thread Dawn Foster
I wanted to remind everyone that we are holding our third Puppet
Contributor Summit on February 4. We are holding it right after FOSDEM
/ Config Management Camp in Gent, Belgium, and I hope to see many of
you there!

If you would like to attend, please register (attendance is free) to
help us plan food for the event:
http://www.eventbrite.com/e/contributor-summit-tickets-13231564967

This event is for both existing and new contributors to Puppet,
related projects, and modules, and we would love to see the following
people attend the Contributor Summit!
* People who submit pull requests and contribute code to our projects
* Community members working on related projects
* People who contribute to Puppet Labs modules or contribute their own
modules to the Puppet Forge
* Key community members who answer a lot of questions about using Puppet
* Long-time Puppet users who are interested in doing more

Here's the rough agenda
9:00: Coffee
9:30: Introduction - Luke Kanies, Puppet Labs CEO
9:45: Project Updates - Eric Sorenson, Deepak G., and Ryan Coleman
10:45: Lightning talks - we'll have a sign-up sheet at the event
11:30: Break out into hacker tables
12:00: Lunch
13:00: Return to hacker tables
16:00: More Lightning talks
16:45: Quick wrap-up
