Problem with CDROM drives
There's a problem with CDROM reading mechanism in RH 8.0. I tried to copy a 90MB file from CDROM to my harddisk running RH 8.0 but it didn't work No mounting problem... the drives can read the files using ls command I'm using 2 drives (hdc and hdd) with scsi hd. 1 drive is cdrom only and the other is cd-rw.. Anyone has solution ?? Rgds, -- Psyche-list mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/psyche-list
Re: Problem with CDROM drives
I use cp I've tried with other version (Valhalla) just works fine but not with Psyche ... Same result under Xwindow. (GNOME, KDE) got the message, says: hdc: command error: status=0x51 {DriveReady SeekComplete Error } hdc: command error: error=0x54 end_request: I/O error, dev 16:00 (hdc), sector 550692 hdc is my cdrom drive I try to scan the disc, but there's no error Rgds, Arthur > u4ia wrote: > > There's a problem with CDROM reading mechanism in RH 8.0. > > I tried to copy a 90MB file from CDROM to my harddisk running RH 8.0 but > > it didn't work > > > > No mounting problem... the drives can read the files using ls command > > > > I'm using 2 drives (hdc and hdd) with scsi hd. 1 drive is cdrom only and > > the other is cd-rw.. > > > > How did you try to do the copy? Re: Problem with CDROM drives
Yeah .. I guess you're right I've just tried with 250 MB single file from cdrom .. and no probs at all... Maybe I burn it in a wrong way... but still annoy me ... Re: Problem with CDROM drives
I think I know the problem after I see the CD Info (using xcdroast), it's a multi-session CD. I see 2 tracks of data : 1st track contain 1 MB 2nd track contain 657 MB data where the 90 MB file exist. I don't know if this a problem but I think ...Psyche can't copy a file which lie on 2nd track of multisession CD I might be wrong . any comment ? Re: NVidia's Newest Drivers (build 4191)
I don;t know about the "vesa" driver I think it will run for Geforce 3 & 4 as the default driver in Psyche. While I still use Geforce 2 and the default use "nv". I test it with game such tux racer and chromium, using the "nv" driver is drop... but not with the "nvidia" driver works better . Rgds, Arthur "Christopher A. Re: Grub and SCSI
What kind of SCSI controller do you have ?? and How does Grub recognized all of your harddisk (hd0,hd1...)? What system do U have in your IDE drive ? Can U see / access the SCSI drive from the IDE drive using the system U have on the IDE ? "A.J. Werkman" wrote: > Hello, > > I have a system with an IDE and a SCSI disk. Re: Grub and SCSI
As far as I know, AVA series is not a bootable SCSI card. Often it's being used to attach SCSI peripheral such as scanner, ZIP or other non-bootable device. So, if U try it, it won;t work. Not just Linux but other O/S will not boot if U use this SCSI controller. (Correct me if I'm wrong) Try getting AHA-series . Rgds, Arthur "A.J. Werkman" wrote: > I have an AVA 2904. Re: Adding an 80G Seagate IDE drive....
Your mobo doesn't have on-board SCSI controller, so what controller do you use ? You can set the BIOS boot sequence in your "BOOT" menu in "1st to 8th Boot Device" and make sure you choose SCSI over IDE-HDD. And try to set Plug & Play O/S to "Disable" rgds Bruce Douglas wrote: > the problem with this is that there doesn't seem to be any way to indicate > to the bios that the box has scsi. although if i load liunx on the scsi > without the ide drive, it works as it's supposed to. the bios allows me to > manipulate ide master/slave, primary/secondary controllers. > > i'm running an intel isp1100 motherboard. > > regards > > -bruce > > -Original Message- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of jdow > Sent: Saturday, December 28, 2002 5:49 PM > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: Re: Adding an 80G Seagate IDE drive > > Tell the BIOS to boot from the first SCSI drive.
