Hi All. I am having problems installing RedHat 8.0 on Compaq Proliant 3000 servers dual CPU servers. Everytime I try to install the RedHat 8.0, the 2nd CPU dies. I have tried this on 3 different server (all Proliant 3000) with the same results. Now I have 3 Proliants with 2nd CPUs non-functional. The only way to revive the CPU is to reset the BIOS, which also cause the array info to be lost, and have to re-install the OS. So it seems to me that RedHat 8.0 is modifying something in the BIOS that it is not suppose to. Has anyone else ran into this problem with the similar architecture or dual CPU configurations? Recompiling the Kernel
Hello, I just installed my Red Hat 8.0 system last night and wanted to upgrade the kernel to my own custom kernel and when I tried to do a "make menuconfig", it said that gcc wasn't found and that I needed ncurses to be installed in order for the menu program to function. However, upon doing an rpm -q ncurses, I found out that it was installed, however GCC was not installed. Can I just safely grab the gcc rpm from rpmfind.net for 8.0, install it and be good to go, or is there another step(s) that I have to do in order to get it to work. Any help would be appreciated. Try rebuilding that perl module from source? -- Jonathan -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] On Behalf Of Aaron E Cunningham Sent: Sunday, November 24, 2002 7:56 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: perldesk: rh8 upgrade this may be an oversight on my part, but anyway... i am running perldesk which requires MD5 support. all was well with 7.2, but after the upgrade, upon running it spits out: "can't locate MD5.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.0/i386-linux-thread-multi" and so on. Dynamic E-Mail Signatures
Hello, I noticed that Rick and a few other people are using dynamic e-mail signatures for this list, I was wondering how I can do the same using Evolution. Please let me know, thanks. P.S. I've already e-mailed Rick off-list about this. Best Regards, Jonathan M. RE: USB Hard Disks
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 John, USB support under Red Hat Linux 8.0 is better than in previous versions, but still not totally up to par with Winblows. So, you may want to check around on the net on sites such as www.linuxjournal.com, etc. and see if you can get some recommendations for USB hard drives there. I presume that a hard disk advertised as "external USB" would plug into a USB port and work like any other hard disk. And I also presume that RH8.0 would have no trouble using such a critter. Are those presumptions correct? And, if so, can anyone pass on any experiences with different kinds (the good, the bad, and the ugly).
