Re: [PHP-WIN] Re: Apache 1.3.x PHP module and php.ini precedence

2002-10-09 Thread Franco Pozzer

If Apache work as Apache module php.ini *MUST BE* in system root env like
C:\winnt\php.ini

If Apache work as CGI php.ini *MUST BE* in the path where php it is
installed.

Like this Apache directives:

#PHP 4.2.1 come CGI
ScriptAlias /php/ "D:/Php/php-4.2.1-Win32/"
AddType application/x-httpd-php .phtml .php
AddType application/x-httpd-php-source .phps
Action application/x-httpd-php /php/php.exe

my php.ini it is on the D::/Php/php-4.2.1-Win32/

#PHP 4.2.1 come Apache Module
#LoadModule php4_module "D:/Php/php-4.2.1-Win32/sapi/php4apache.dll"
#AddType application/x-httpd-php .php

my php.ini it is in the D:\winnt\system32\

Re: [PHP-WIN] Re: expat extension

2002-11-07 Thread Franco Pozzer
Expat it is build in in apache since Apache 1.3.14. You do not have to do
anythinhg after instlla Apache and PHP.

In the Win32 system, If you want use DOM extension (libxml2.dll) instead SAX
(expat) you must uncomment php_domxml.dll in the php.ini and move the dlls in
the PHP install into the system root.

If you use XSLT trasformer like Sablotron you must move the module/object
xmlparse.lib, xmltok.lib in the system root Win32 ENC such as
C:\WinNT\system32

I have try same these question before to decide to realize an application
web_based that use XML.

After many test and many consideration I decide to use SAX instead DOM or XSLT
because XPath it is must stable. But the performance it is not equal like DOM.

XSLT it is a good but the mantenace of the code it is very very dificult and
the porpose of the my application it is not well to use it.

If you like to have my applkication to study what I have to make write to me
and I send same prototype.

Ciao Franco.

Re: [PHP-WIN] data entry form - php or something more robust?

2002-11-18 Thread Franco Pozzer
Marlene, I hope to write clear things in order to help you.

I and my team have made one applicatione of date entry with Apache and PHP
using rows XML
in order to record the infomazioni or for having the coordinates in order
to construct the form dynamically.

The thing that has complicated us the life in developing the application has
been the controls on the fields.

PHP works on the serve (server site) and therefore the controls on the
single fields before the post cannot be made on the client.

Moreover could not be made of the post of form because the thing would be
with little entusiasmanti performances and also from a little
useful ergonomic point of view for the final utilizzatore.

Moral of the history we have been unfortunately forced to integrate much
code PHP with Javascript in order to execute controls side client
before the post of the form.

This not it is a PHP limit. Perhaps our application did not have to be made
with Apache and PHP but with other technologies where lagestione
of the events turns out better.

They are not sure that these centers with what you have in mind to make; I
want to only suggest that if before making a post and you must
make of the controls and to manage events with PHP this could be little
complicated.

Ciao Franco.

Re: [PHP-WIN] C++ dll files

2002-11-25 Thread Franco Pozzer
I try to help to you but I do not sure if it is a correct because I have
study the problems but I do not have try it.

  For my porpose instead to use COM object I like to use C or C++ external
pgm.

  First of all, the DLL must be registred in Windows system. Mine was
because it was provided by a "setup" software...
  or with regedit32.exe pgm.

  So, you have to get the name under witch the DLL is registed.

   This name is not necessary the same than DLL's. To get this name, I used
to search into
  de registry database. I was looking for the DLL name and I managed to get
the registred name.

  Once you get this registred name, in php you can write:

  $obj = new COM("registred name");

  I send a .zip with bmp to expalin the correct registred Dll/COM/ActiveX
object.

  Another question DLL or COM or Object must be 32bit!

  I hope this help you

  Ciao Franco.

[PHP-WIN] Installation question about : PHP4TS.DLL & PHP4TS.LIB

2002-11-26 Thread Franco Pozzer
Thanks for all.

A question about installation under Win32 system.

In the document at this link :
http://www.thickbook.com/extra/php_apachephp4_win.phtml explain very well
how to configure PHP in CGI mode with Apache.

In the document I read this:

  3.Move the php4ts.dll file to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\ or wherever you
usually put your *.dll files.

In my env (WinNT 5.0) I have moved this object php4ts.dll in my system root
like D:\WINNT\system32\.

Question:

It is possibile to link this object php4ts.dll without move it to system
root? and php interpreter work fine in any case?

It is possible to call it in the path or directory where php it is installed
as like C:\php\?

Thanks for all.

ciao Franco.

Re: [PHP-WIN] C++ dll files

2002-11-27 Thread Franco Pozzer
I am not sure because I do not try these situation. I have validate in the paper
these situation, but I can write that I have find in my investigation:

Your dll.s are not activex components, so you can't register them. They are
libraries (dynamic link libraries: they can be loaded/unloaded dinamically on
runtime) wich contain some functions. To use the libraries (from C or C++). you
have to call the Win32 API function LoadLibrary. They also can be used from
Visual Basic.
IIS can use only ActiveX components which are a special kind of COM components
especially designed to be used from scripting languages like VBA or
VBScript, JScript. You can easily recognise an ActiveX component because they
use only Variant as datatype for passing and returning parameters (scripting
languages don't support data types declarations). So, I don't know if your
Apache implementation for Win32 can load dll's or ActiveX components.
Furthermore, you can't use your dll's from IIS because they aren't ActiveX
components! You have to ask someone to write for you an ActiveX wrapper for the
libraries in order to use them from IIS. To register an COM/ActiveX component
use regsvr32.exe

I did some exploration, you're in deep trouble: the process of mixing 16 bit
code with 32bit code is called "thunking" (search MSDN for "thunk"). Is very
complicated, you need a 16 bit C/C++ compiler and a 32 bit C/C++ compiler. I've
explored the idea to use an 16 bit automation component directly, but it
seems also it can't be called like 32 bit components. It would be much easier to
recompile/port your dll's to 32 bit code. From here is very simple to build an
automation object using an modern tool.

COM was working also on 16 bit (for Win3.1). I tried to instantiate an 16 bit
automation object from an 32 bit client and it doesn't work. Maybe there is a
solution, but if it is complicated is like doing the so called "thunking".

You must build an ActiveX wrapper around your dll's in order to use them from
scripting languages (on Win platform). All COM components must be
registered (including ActiveX components) - the dll which was the problem for
Merlot intallation was an COM component. Remember, ActiveX is a technology
built using COM technology, so every ActiveX component IS an COM component, but
NOT every COM component is an ActiveX component!

After these, I have try to compile source code dll (C language) in exe object
and I link these external pgm from my php script. I try these solution and it
work fine.

Ciao a tutti. Franco.

The problem it is this. Instead using Postgresql a BD Oracle is wanted

I would want to know which are the participations that I must make on the

[PHP-WIN] How to modify auto_prepend_file dynamically

2002-12-04 Thread Franco Pozzer
Thanks for all for the response.

My application work in the Win32 system with Apache web_server and have
php.ini directives configurated like
auto_prepend_file=C:\OPENFEDRA\apache\htdocs\systemvariables.php

My PHP script do not have any include_once() function because the directives of
the PHP include the script systemVariables automatically in the code.

The question it is:

Instead to have auto_prepend_file configurated and to use include_once() in
any script PHP, It is possible to have any ather solutions

Can anyone have same code sample for me to resolve my problems?

Thanks for all. ciao Franco.

[PHP-WIN] ini function like ini_set and ini_alter

2002-12-04 Thread Franco Pozzer
Thanks for all.

My end it is Apache 1.3.27 and PHP 4.3.2 in Win32 system NT 4.0.

I have the php.ini auto_prepend_file  like this:
auto_prepend_file="C:\OPENFEDRA\Apache\htdocs\fedra\sv\cfg\"

All work fine with this configuration of the php.ini.

For same reason I must to do not configure php.ini and the directives
auto_prepend_file must be null like auto_prepend_file =.

I have discovered ini_alter function but I do not be able to work in my
application.

My script it is like:
$path";

if(ini_alter('auto_prepend_file', $path.'systemVariables.php'))
 echo "ini_alter success";
else
 echo "ini_alter failed";

but do not work.

If I change the ini_alter with include() it work all fine but I do not
want to use include or require function.

have sameone an idea about this code do not work??

Thanks for all and if it is possible reply to me also to e-mail follow.

Re: [PHP-WIN] Re: ini function like ini_set and ini_alter

2002-12-05 Thread Franco Pozzer
Thanks Christoph, for the response.

I try to d interpreting what you write to me and hope to make it in the correct
way.

My file that I like auto_prepend it is under Document_Root of the web_server
Apache in the path like this:
C:\OPENFEDRA\apache\htdocs\sv\cfg\systemVariables.php.

Well. The PHP worh in the Apache as CGI and php.ini are load with any execution
of the script PHP.

Before using the function ini_alter() in script PHP I would have to read the
files systemVariables?

I have made a test in order to see if other directives of php.ini can
dynamically be modified from script always with the function ini_alter() or
ini_set().

I have tried to change the session_path_file directive and are successful to
make this thing.

Of this they are not sure but I have one what little clear one that regards
that some directives of PHP cannot be modified from system the Win32.

The reason of this I have not clearly and I do not know it.

I hope to have written in clear way and I ask you the courtesy for dirmi if you
there it is a way in order to resolve the thing.

I have tried to use also the directives of Apache creating a file .htaccess
that he contains the directive of php.ini like this:
php_value auto_prepend_file
"C:/OPENFEDRA/Apache/htdocs/fedra/sv/cfg/systemVariables.php"  and without
modify my script PHP.

But I have not understood where to put these rows and then putting the
directive of Apache AllowOverride to the All value I have a InternalServer
error.

Also on this you can help me?

Ciao e grazie Franco.
