pls or m3u, but if the streaming protocall don't allow for aac plus
formats and alike, then it won't work.

I'm glad you've found what you need.

I use Easy CD Converter when I'm ripping under Windows these days but
that's not all that often at all as I''m mainly on the Mac and Easy CD

to be clear, the BPP portable unit times out on streams that do not
play. It seems the unit described was the desktop version. While the
BPP has no list of stations like the new generation Stream, one can go
to Shoutcast and TuneIn and download M3u or PLS files of the streams
and copy them to the unit.

Many say the recorder on the BPP is clearly superior to the one on the
new generation Stream. Dane is insistent though that he must have
support for FLAC files.

It works for most every kind of stream except flash. I was surprised to
learn the player supports AAC streams, which the Plextalk and APH units
don't and probably never will.

If the stream doesn't play, it will say something like, stream failed to
start, by the same token however, The Plextalk and Aph players get
locked
up when the stream won't play, so you have to fiddle with it or get
disgusted with it enough that you remove the battery and Wait a few

so you can start the players again. It is not always feasible to carry a
little screwdriver with you to take the battery out of the Bookport

Works well with most networks, providing they don't use a web
interface, and support the most commin radio streams. You can read the
manual from the humanware site or press and hold key one to read as
you would with the older model.

Re: I Tunes

2014-11-03 Thread Mary Otten
You have run in to the iTunes 12 problem where you can't get that album
list any more. Some folks say they can get the column browser in the
"view" menu, which can also be toggled with command b. But that item
does not show up in my "view" menu, and command b gives me a ding sound
and no column browser. I have no idea why I can't get that when others
can, and if somebody knows how to achieve the album list view, rather
than this grid, that will be great.

Note: I'm not talking about the disappearance of the sidebar, which
showed music, movies, apps etc. I'm talking about the list rather than
a grid, of albums, which could be sorted by artist and navigated with
first letter navigation.

Hi!
I never could get the headset to work with phone calls on the mac.
I then heard that you have to use your built-in mic or if you have a wired
headset with microphone you can use that.
BUt i don’t see the meaning in having to use a wired headset on the mac while
taking calls on it.

Re: I Tunes

2014-11-03 Thread Mary Otten
The solution to the iTunes problem for display of music, as explained
by somebody on another list is as follows.

If you vo space on the "albums" "pop up" which is just to the right of
the itunes store radio button, you will then get access to some
controls, including a table. Interact with that, and you will see
different choices like songs artist etc. Vo space on artist, and that
album grid will be replaced by a artists table, which you can navigate
using first letter navigation. You can also select what columns you
want in that table and how they are to be ordered, I believe, but I
haven't tried all that yet.

Hello everybody

For the last couple of weeks I have been working with the developers of a
software package called “RadioBOSS” to make their software accessible. I
wrote them a long report outlining the accessibility requirements and,
within 48 hours of my doing so, they have produced a beta which removes
the accessibility issues almost completely. Their formerly graphically
drawn boxes are now standard group box controls, and it is possible to
navigate between them via the keyboard. The software has excellent audio
processing, oodles of keyboard hot keys, built-in streaming/DSP encoders,
(including Icecast 2.0 and Shoutcast 2.0), full support for uploading
playlists to a remote server, full song requester facilities, accurate
top-of-the-hour rotation timing, multiple file formats supported,
on-the-fly recording of broadcasts, multiple simultaneous input/output
sound devices, dynamically updated music libraries, Copy & Paste queuing,
automatic playlist generation suitable for full 24/7 automation, and much
much more.

The software comes in three different flavours, depending upon your needs.
But even the most expensive “Advanced” license is priced at just $199.00
US which, in comparison even to things like Station Playlist Creator and
Sam Broadcaster, is a very affordable price. Indeed, to license SPL and
Studio Pro you’re looking at $450 for the two apps together. This comes
as an all-in-one application and is, as I say, cheaper than Station
Playlist Creator Pro on its own.

I shall continue to work with the developers to further accessibility.
But it shows what can be achieved if one approaches a developer in the
right way. I went to them politely and demonstrated my willingness to
play the game, so to speak, by purchasing 4 licenses for the Advanced
edition which can be used on my four machines here to broadcast. I am
excited as to the prospects of using this software, and once we iron out a
few more of the issues, I am confident that we will end up with a very
accessible and highly effective means of putting one’s programming to air.

If you immediately rush off to download it, I should warn you against
downloading the main release setup version on their website. It is not
fully accessible at all. Many of the tabs and panels are not available in
that version. If you want to download and try the beta, you’ll need to
access their Forum and download as a guest from there. Alternatively, get
back to me off list and I’l send you a copy of the beta.

Gordon

Re: Follow-up: Free CD Ripping Software

2014-11-03 Thread Donald L. Roberts
Dan, I got in on this thread very late. Frankly, as I see it, the best
and most accessible free burning program is called burnaware free. The
current version 7.x is not accessible; however, prior versions are very
accessible. If interested, I'll be glad to send it to you for
evaluation. I would be glad to send you the link if you wish. Just let
me know.

Hi!

Someone on list asked about free CD Ripping Software a little while ago, I
answered with iTunes though of course I didn’t realise at the time that there’s
probably an even better answer built right into Windows itself which I assume
the questioner was using.

The answer of course is Windows Media Player which - when I last tried it - was
very accessible indeed.

I didn’t follow the conversation at the time so perhaps someone else on list
suggested Windows Media Player anyway.

I am having the same problems everyone else is having with I Tunes. In the
previous copy of I Tunes, once you hilighted artist, pressed the spacebar to
check or uncheck the selection, tab over to sync your music to your device, it
worked just fine. If anyone has a solution, let me know.Sent from my iPhone

but you’re forgive of course, its Melbourne Cup day after all.
